Help me find the unicorn of holidays please

I’m looking for a holiday for my family of 4 but we have quite a big wish list and I’ve searched for hours but can’t seem to find exactly what I’m looking for (I know compromise is the answer here really but I’m hopeful)

We’d like:

Flights from Bristol/cardiff/Birmingham
A room with a separate bedroom so we aren’t all sleeping together in one room
A couple of water slides
Short walk to beach/beachfront
A local town to walk into to (don’t want to have to get taxis ideally, would be happy with a small town and then taxi to a larger one for example though)
4 hours ish flight as young children with no patience!

I know we are fussy and I’ve been searching for weeks! Any help or recommendations for hotels would be much appreciated.

We’d like 10 nights anytime around the 20th of July and absolute max budget of £5k.

Thank you 🙏

Sal in Cape verde sounds just what you're looking for except the flight is slightly longer. The Riu funana hotel is excellent for families

brocollilover · 02/04/2024 17:04

board basis?

Nevermindtheteacaps · 02/04/2024 17:05

Dore hotel Crete has everything except waterslides, but there is a nearby water park. You could get 7 nights for your budget, maybe 10 if you took unpopular flights

brocollilover · 02/04/2024 17:05

school holidays or pre schoolers?

Town isn't walkable though, but taxis are cheap

They are 8&6 and in school - finish on the 20th July but happy to take them out a few days early if necessary

https://www.sangulisalou.com/en/ various accommodation options here and a few different themed slides/pool.

You might need to play around with dates slightly but it should be well within budget. You'll need to check "getting to town" options. Might be a bus or taxi rather than walk.

We've not been but we did look at this before when looking for a similar holiday: Protur Safari Park we have similar flight requirements and normally find we're limited to Alicante or Majorca flights for a similar budget. The Magic hotels in Benidorm are great for children but certainly not to everyone's tastes!

Thank you, happy to be flexible with things like flights and would go slightly over budget too I guess if it ticks all the other boxes too

Not sure on the budget but check out Stella Village (3 star) or Stella Palace (5 star) in Crete. Ticks all your boxes.

Thank you I’ll have a look. We’ve done Majorca a few times now for these reasons but I just fancy a change. I can see us back in Majorca though!

Yes flights are tricky down this way aren't they! You could also try Exeter for cheaper flights, they operate routes to Spain for a bit less than Bristol.

Have you looked at Turkey as an option? The Jet2 website is good for filtering by search criteria. Not been here but this one looks like it has a superior family room which would bring it in around the £5k mark for 10 nights all inclusive https://www.jet2holidays.com/beach/turkey/dalaman-area/icmeler/labranda-mares-marmaris?duration=10&airport=98&date=20-07-2024&occupancy=r2c10_7&board=5&oflight=1091946&iflight=1091651&rooms=92717&gtmsearchtype=Smart%20Search&smartsearchid=c6f0cc24-07c8-41b5-8e40-f55500613643

Royal Son Bou in Menorca would work

brocollilover · 02/04/2024 17:50

how long and… when?!

all drive budget

samarrange · 02/04/2024 18:14

I'm not sure why this is a unicorn. Your wish list doesn't seem very complicated. Which bit is giving you the most trouble?

Anything I’ve found that ticks all the boxes is much closer to £6k and over, than £5k. So I know the hotels do obviously exist however I haven’t managed to find one in budget, which is why I was hoping someone on here might have some hidden gems first before I decide where I need to compromise 😊
