Would you spend 10% of your monthly income to upgrade to Business Class?

Flying home from Mexico City in premium economy. Got an offer of £400 to upgrade to business class. 11 hour night flight.

£400 is roughly 10% of a month’s take home pay, so it’s a lot of money.

Would you do it?

If it's Aeromexico, then ABSOLUTELY NOT (sorry for shouting, but do not pay them anything to upgrade, they are the worst possible shite of all time, with the worst service ever, and no it's not worth it, and yes, I paid to upgrade with them and I regret it all). If it's another airline, maybe, yeah.

crew2022 · 12/03/2024 05:59

Yes it's so worth it

Depends - if someone came round hourly asking for another £40 do you think you'd feel good about it?

Speedweed · 12/03/2024 08:29

Depends - what time's the flight? An overnight is worthwhile if it's a good airline, less so if it's a day flight. Also useful for the lounges, if the flight times are very late/early. But as someone else said, consider whether using the money for spending instead might be a better use of it - the flat 'beds' aren't that comfortable, it's more like lying on a park bench.

I would. Yes.

I decided not to upgrade in the end. Aware it was a very good deal but I really can’t sleep on flights so am happy with premium.

Definitely not. Flying is flying, it’s always rubbish. And business class has a higher environmental impact than economy.

I flew business a couple times pre covid when I got really good deals… sadly no more… but I will lie on my deathbed and remember it always!
