Would you spend 10% of your monthly income to upgrade to Business Class?

Flying home from Mexico City in premium economy. Got an offer of £400 to upgrade to business class. 11 hour night flight.

£400 is roughly 10% of a month’s take home pay, so it’s a lot of money.

Would you do it?

Another vote for biting their hand off!! Which airline OP?

Disco222 · 11/03/2024 22:44

Absolutely! I've spent way more than that before, that is a total bargain and worth every penny for long haul.

Tailfeather · 11/03/2024 22:45

YES!!

Rufilla · 11/03/2024 22:47

100 times yes. I’m and anxious flyer, can’t sleep sitting up and fantasise about lay-flat seats. Sadly I’ve never come across a deal as good as this and have never been able to justify it. But I’d jump at this.

RatzTailz · 11/03/2024 22:52

Depends on which airline as some business classes are much better than others. Would defo upgrade for something like BA, virgin, emirates.....

JamSandle · 11/03/2024 22:53

No

pambeesleyhalpert · 11/03/2024 22:57

Deff!

flyinghen · 11/03/2024 23:09

Definitly

ohthejoys21 · 11/03/2024 23:26

Wouldn't think twice.

theduchessofspork · 11/03/2024 23:27

No, I think premium economy is fine

HawkersEast · 12/03/2024 01:32

Hell yeah!

samarrange · 12/03/2024 01:54

Yes, especially going east. If you can get 5 or 6 hours of good sleep you can start living on local time immediately after you land and just tell your body that you had a normal night with a bit less sleep than usual.

Also, if you can afford a holiday in Mexico you ought to be able to afford another £400. If you can't afford that then you probably shouldn't be going on that holiday.

kitchenhelprequired · 12/03/2024 02:26

£400 is very good value for an upgrade. Business class flights are generally around 2.5 x the price of economy, usually not including any really low promotional economy fares. At the end of the day if the £400 can be put to much better use then it really doesn't matter how good value it is. I travel long haul in economy very regularly and whilst the thought of the flight doesn't fill me with joy, half an hour after landing I'm over it.

Ruthietuthie · 12/03/2024 03:16

Without a question. Go for it.

Teddleshon · 12/03/2024 03:20

I don’t usually think upgrades are worth it but that’s a bargain!

WaitingfortheTardis · 12/03/2024 03:24

I wouldn't as it wouldn't be worth it to me, it really depends if you want/need more space to sleep. If I'm tired I can sleep anywhere so it makes no difference.

JustWhatWeDontNeed · 12/03/2024 03:37

Probably, unless I'd already been ripped off with the PE price.

Is it BA? Double check the aircraft to make sure it not a crusty plane with inferior biz class.

TiptopTommy · 12/03/2024 04:46

I would, but it depends how well you sleep on planes.

1yearplan · 12/03/2024 04:52

Absolutely

Garlicking · 12/03/2024 05:05

I thought "Yes, of course" at first (if I had the £400, which I don't). But then I realised you could check into a dead comfy hotel at Heathrow if you're tired, get a proper sleep, shower and a nice dinner, and still have change.

So, no!

Aposterhasnoname · 12/03/2024 05:38

I’d snatch their hand off for that price

NewYearResolutions · 12/03/2024 05:43

No. But I flew that regularly in economy.

bengalcat · 12/03/2024 05:43

Yes

Itisnearlyspring · 12/03/2024 05:43

Before I tried business I would have said no however now I have tried it I would definitely do it, it makes the whole experience and the holiday 100x nicer.

supercatlady · 12/03/2024 05:44

Yes!
