Apologies if this thread already exists but I love hearing people’s holiday plans!

We’ve just booked for Canada and it’s got me excited for 2024 travel! Tell me what you’ve got planned for next year?

@HowDidThisHappenDinesh so jealous of you going to Japan. I loved it. But I love everywhere I go 😂

almost all my discretionary spending goes on my piano or travel. I'm practising inbetween reading all your travel plans abd thinking "bum, I want to go there too !"

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 31/12/2023 19:39

Munich is on my list too, possibly in August if we decide against Oslo.

BIWI · 31/12/2023 19:41

Couple of days in Rye in February.

11 nights in Barbados in March (my happy place!)

Another trip to Rye in June - DH and I bought each other the same for Christmas!

Then 5 days in Vienna on July.

Hubblebubble · 31/12/2023 19:42

Canada too! Going to book the flights this evening.

I'm going to Sweden for a few days in April to visit son who will be on an Erasmus scheme there for a few months. In May have a long weekend in Suffolk. June is a camper van trip to Iceland for 2 weeks. Will probably go to Finland September/October. Would like to fir in a long distance walk but think I might struggle this year.

Hello from the elderly parents group ! Lovely to see you making fabulous plans

StiffyByngsDogBartholomew · 31/12/2023 19:45

@BIWI where are you staying in Rye ? I live in that neck of the woods :)

DrMadelineMaxwell · 31/12/2023 19:49

Portugal in Feb.
New York in May.
Either Italy or Greece in August.

StiffyByngsDogBartholomew · 31/12/2023 19:50

Oh I forgot. hopefully a solo weekend at Piano Heaven, Finchcocks later in the year. I usually do at least one per year, waiting for the release of the autumn and winter breaks on 2/1

Canada is amazing, Vancouver was great and scenery all around Canada is some of the best I have seen.

I can't wait for holidays in 24.

We have our main summer holiday booked travelling around France. We will probably go into Italy and Belgium as well.

Also planning UK short breaks to Lakes, Devon and Wales.

We may

Puravida23 · 31/12/2023 19:59

Just booked Japan for September/October. So looking forward to spending the cold winter month of January planning it
Also got a weeks break in Egypt in March all inclusive to relax
And a week in Estonia/Finland in June as a more sight seeing Europe break
Lots of amazing holiday ideas from posters, love hearing where everyone is off to
We Love Holidays in our house it is where we spend most our money. good to see we are not alone!

countrygirl99 · 31/12/2023 20:00

@StiffyByngsDogBartholomew hi, hopefully won't have the night before big holiday crisis we had in 2022!

MissAmbrosia · 31/12/2023 20:18

Henryhover · 31/12/2023 20:27

DaveClifton · 31/12/2023 20:38

@Chouxpastryishard

We used Trailfinders. Flew to Vancouver, had a couple of nights in the city (Pinnacle Harbourfront) then picked up a motorhome and went to Vancouver Island (took about 3hrs inc ferry) for a week (Parksville, Ucluelet and Tofino) followed by 4 days in Whistler and another 4 days back in Vancouver city (returned the motorhome then stayed at Hyatt Regency, very central).

We would love to go back to Vancouver Island and spend more time there - Ucluelet in particular was wonderful (amazing whale watching and wildlife tours), but the scenery everywhere is just spectacular, and very easy to drive around. We stumbled across so many gorgeous lakes and creeks that we just spontaneously swam in (it was 30 degrees the whole time we were there) - Google Wally Creek, it was stunning!
Campgrounds are all set up for motorhomes, so are very well appointed and everyone was super friendly. Our DD (only child) made lots of friends! You do need to book campgrounds a long way in advance, especially on the island - I booked in January for our August trip and even then missed out on our preferred site as it was fully booked already (Trailfinders just organised the motorhome hire, we had to book campgrounds ourselves).

It was easy to spend a week in Vancouver city as there is so much to do and is so family friendly. We spent a lot of time on hired bikes going round Stanley Park, using the large municipal pool there and going to the beach.

It's a huge country, don't bite off more than you can chew in terms of distances!

At the moment I've got my eye on an all inclusive week in Turkey at Spring Bank, Seville for a week in Oct half term. Probably a camping trip in Wales in summer. And a few days just me and DH somewhere in the summer hols when DS is with my sister

I would also like a European city break with a friend.

However looking at the list above and thinking about the cost, I'm not sure it is all doable!

honeyrider · 31/12/2023 20:52

Vancouver Island is well worth a visit.

CheshGirl · 31/12/2023 20:59

Our third IKOS trip, nothing beats it with young kids

BlowDryRat · 31/12/2023 21:05

DS is going on a school ski trip in Italy early in March. Two weeks later we're all going to Mexico for the Easter holidays. We're basing ourselves at a hotel on the Riviera Maya DH and I have stayed at before, broken up with a weekend trip to Chichen Itza. The DC are extremely excited. I am too TBH. The resort is gorgeous and we've hired a car to go on all sorts of day trips. Some we've done before, others are new. The Sian Ka'an Biosphere is a trip I'm really excited for.

In the summer we're going to the French Alps for a week. The DC are enrolled in French lessons in the morning and the language school will take them on various outdoorsy trips in the afternoon. I'm looking forward to a balanced week of peaceful walks and picnics with DH during the day and evenings swimming and eating out with the DC.

I'm hoping to go away for Christmas too but I'm not sure where yet. Somewhere in the UK.

InAMess2023 · 31/12/2023 21:06

Two weeks in South Africa to visit family

A week in Majorca

4 days in ibiza

A week in Greece

Promising early days of a relationship so hoping we can have at least a couple of mini breaks on top!

BestIsWest · 31/12/2023 21:21

Loved Canada, have been a few times and wouldn’t mind going back.
Planning a week in the Netherlands in May, West Wales early in 2024, Italian lakes in Sept and Herefordshire at some point too.

LibbyL92 · 31/12/2023 21:48

Off to New York in the morning!

The George and then Whitehouse

ZeroFucksGivenToday · 01/01/2024 16:08

Love reading everyone's holiday plans.

@Footprintsinthesand - I spent many a summer holiday at that Haven site in Tenby. Work out the path at the back of the site that leads you up the quicker route into Tenby (rather than me spending ages walking the long way out of the gate!). Basically follow the crowds of people walking the opposite way to what you expect.

We're also saving for Japan in 2025. But I'm stuck with school holidays so may try and aim for the Easter break :)

Holidayqueen1 · 01/01/2024 20:31
