Which resort/hotel? Majorca, All inclusive with young DC

Broodywuz · 25/08/2023 11:18

Just that really.
Decided to go abroad next year when DC will be 5 and 2 (almost 3) Will be first time on a plane. Mainly due to flight length/times and frequency from our nearest Airport we've decided on Majorca, end of July.
Looking for recommendations (or heads up on ones to avoid) for hotels/resorts. Ideally all inclusive, 4/5 with lot's for the kids.

Well that didn't work Confused

Ha ha, that beach certainly doesn’t look nice!

I walked down to the front down the busy street with the foot fish and things in it. Didn’t see a beach there, just sea and rocks. Maybe the tide was in?

Crikeyalmighty · 26/08/2023 23:19

I like this resort between Puerto pollensa and alcudia- it's got a nature reserve adjoining, an adult only pool, an indoor pool and a cycle track and on a great bus route. Food was lovely and it's loved by Germans

Crikeyalmighty · 26/08/2023 23:23

@TheFairyCaravan I disagree that it's nicer. It really depends where you go in Mallorca.

TheGoodBanana · 26/08/2023 23:24

We went to club Mac in alcudia a couple of times. I took the kids by myself and had a lovely time, I think that was about 9 years ago so can't vouch for it now but it's worth looking at.

Newbie999 · 26/08/2023 23:27

I am currrbtky looking at Puerto Azul Hotel in Pollensa as I have been recommended by a friend, although he stayed there with his 2 sons some years ago and they are older

has anybody stayed there!

Tinks15 · 27/08/2023 07:46

We’ve just returned from Zafiro Can Picafort we had a great time - highly recommend for young families. My DC are 8 & 5 & there’s loads for them to do. Staff are very friendly/helpful & the hotel itself is very clean.

I would agree with @WhatapityWapiti though we didn’t like the actual area it was rather run down in places & quite grubby. Beach was ok but does very rather busy.

We went to Cala D’or last year & loved that area!

Broodywuz · 27/08/2023 14:19

Thanks everyone.

I think we're narrowed it down to:
Protur Bonaire Aparthotel, Cala Bona
Protur Vista Badia, Sa Coma
One of the Zafiro Hotels, Ca'n Picafort

Oh I’ve just seen your update but I was going to recommend Cala D’Or . We stay in Ferrera Park apartments which has a small pool and the most amazing view with the sea and beach right in front of the apartment. Away from bars and restaurants and 1 min walk to closest shops etc.
It really is fabulous and with many different coves ,marina and a ditto train that is fabulous for the children.
We have stayed there on and off over thirty years and can honestly say that nowhere that we have been to has been close to how idyllic this place is !
Am off there again tomorrow, back to my happy place!

We didn’t stay there and Pollensa is lovely but not as pretty and varied as Cala D’Or.
Majorca has so much to offer for everyone.

gogomoto · 27/08/2023 15:27

Seems to be plenty around the £4K mark 4 star, 5 star just over budget. Which airport ?

gogomoto · 27/08/2023 15:30

If you fancy Ibiza I can recommend where I went recently (no kids but plenty of families there) water park included, a la carte or buffet and safe beach next door. Holiday village think it's called ... I booked a specialist week pre season so I had a different package.

trying29 · 27/08/2023 15:36

We just came back from Puerto pollensa with an 8 and 5 year old. We’d previously done 2 years jn cala d’or. Pollensa far better- much better food options and town nicer in general. Seems to be more than just a tourist town. We didn’t stay jn a hotel but can really recommend aparthotel flora

We’ve returned from here, we have 4 year old. Lovely splash park, great activities for kids, 5 min walk from the beach and a little park right outside the hotel. It’s been lovely

Oh that does look lovely, it's getting added to the short list, which keeps getting longer 🤣

Lot's of recommendations for Puerto Pollensa and Cala D'or, they both seem beautiful, however I'm not finding many very child friendly (ie with splash park and entertainment) all inclusive hotels in these resort and any I'm finding seem to be quite a distance from the resort centre. I'm realising, for our first time abroad and when dc are so small, a lovely hotel with everything onsite is higher in my priorities than the resort.

We had this problem when looking and we just went round in circles! It was our first time taking our nearly 5 year old away.
It’s been the perfect hotel for us. We’ve been spending our time around the little splash park and it’s so relaxed. It’s a small hotel
so she has been in the little pool with us watching, she can’t go anywhere.

Food is lovely, it never feels busy, it was august and there were sunbeds still available at 11am. The shops are just outside the hotel and there’s a nice street to walk up and down each evening.

we couldn’t recommend it highly enough!

Newbie999 · 27/08/2023 17:59

I have been looking at Pollensa for next year It appears that most of the hotels offer 2 options - either b and b or half board which is dinner in the evening. The difference is pretty minimal so we will take the half board option and venture out a couple of nights to restaurants on the Pine Walk which is a promenade by the sea with lots of cafes. You may want to investigate this as people like to get out occasionally from the hotel for a change of scene. Good luck

Broodywuz · 27/08/2023 18:00

*@Pie8er that's sounds like exactly what we're looking for. Was there any evening entertainment at the hotel?

Thanks for your reply. I am searching for a child friendly hotel in the pollensa area

Don’t go there. We stayed there last year and it was very second rate compared to the Zafiro I recommended earlier. Also, I left some necklaces in the bedside drawer when we checked out, my Sister in law (who was with us but leaving later) asked at reception about an hour after check out and they denied all knowledge. I lost 3 things which had great sentimental value (one belonged to my late Mum, one to my late Gran and one I got on my honeymoon). I am 100% certain that they were in that drawer and they point blank refused to take it up with the staff who clearly stole them.

We stayed at the Iberostar Club Cala Barca a couple of years ago and had a great time.
We’ve stayed at a couple of Iberostar hotels and they are lovely, plenty of activities and the kids made friends in the kids clubs.

cherryassam · 27/08/2023 18:27

I haven’t read through every message, but I just wanted to second what @Changingmynameyetagain said - if you’re wanting hotels that are nice to spend most of your time in, Iberostar is a good brand to look at.

Iberostar Playa de Muro / Iberostar Selection Playa de Muro seem to be great for families

Crikeyalmighty · 27/08/2023 18:40

@Broodywuz the nicer resorts in Majorca (in my opinion) haven't gone a bundle on AI resorts with water parks and all that. Without getting into the ins and outs their were a few changes in direction a few yearsago that limited Air B NB I believe and also I think AI as they felt it was poor for the local economy asa whole and not enough money went into the local economy from AI tourists . There are some, but not as many as you get in places like Turkey, Egypt and canaries. If you want a centralish hotel In one of the prettier resorts then they don't tend to be the type of thing you are I think looking for. The one I mentioned at club Port Blu is great for facilities, lovely pools, food , nature park, and entertainment and good for kids but doesn't have slides etc and is between Puerto pollensa and alcudia

Another one that's nice with young children is the Valentin park in paguera- paguera has a great white sand and palm trees beach and is a medium sized quite smart resort with lots for children, loved by Germans and a short 25 minute drive from Palma. It's also quite a central hotel . Not sure if it does AI or not- but the resort has tons of places to eat at all levels - it has a fantastic and cheap German beer garden place facing the beach too

Check out Valentin Park Club on Booking.com! www.booking.com/Share-f6DTLD

Agreed, we just came back from a fantastic Iberostar holiday in mainland Spain. Lovely atmosphere and great food.

We went to the protur Bonaire a few years ago and it was amazing. Even with very young children it still felt like a proper holiday (if that makes sense) . I'd go back in a heartbeat but we now have three DC and they have max 4 in an apartment
