European city breaks

Hello,

I’m looking for inspiration for European city breaks. I’ve done many but sure there’s some out there. I’d be happy to cluster two or three together.

I’ve already done / am doing soon (and don’t want to do again - want new places):
The UK - to death
Dublin
Paris
Barcelona
Berlin
Prague

Budapest
Amsterdam
leiden
Lisbon
Copenhagen
Malmo
Brussels
Rome
Florence
naples
lourdes
Krakow

All suggestions welcome, shorter the flight from the UK the better x

Thanks

Madrid

Haarlem, Brugge and Dresden. Or anywhere in Iceland.

Throwawaytoday · 29/07/2022 23:36

Saville is wonderful.

Throwawaytoday · 29/07/2022 23:37

I also liked Bilbao.

Mumski45 · 29/07/2022 23:37

Sorry I didn't expand but these three are a good cluster. We have just come back from this area and there is so much to see. The Alhambra in Granada, the Mezquita/Cathedral in Cordoba and the Alcazar in Seville are all worth a visit.

Throwawaytoday · 29/07/2022 23:37

SEVILLE ffs.

Saville was a monster.

Tirednortherner · 29/07/2022 23:40

Thanks everyone!

I’ve always fancied Iceland but want to save up for that and do it properly.

Will look into all the other options.

I’m actually looking for 2x city breaks (up to 4n each max - could be clustered) for 2023 and 1x Christmas market break for later this year

Salzburg and Vienna

BarrelOfOtters2 · 30/07/2022 05:41

I really liked Tallin, it’s got great food, very walkable, interesting history. Also Malaga, Granada….both small but both lovely.

Sswhinesthebest · 30/07/2022 05:49

Bruges, could combine with Ghent.

Venice

Loved, Seville and Córdoba.

Sswhinesthebest · 30/07/2022 05:50

Porto was lovely too.

Dubrovnik is next on my list.

PrincessCarolyn · 30/07/2022 06:13

Madrid
Vienna
Bruges
Venice
Milan
Turin
Wiesbaden
Dresden - has one of the oldest Christmas markets
Geneva
Oslo
Stockholm

ItsReallyOnlyMe · 30/07/2022 06:22

Dubrovnik and Kotor. Kotor is tiny but gorgeous.

Clymene · 30/07/2022 06:26

Ghent
Antwerp
Valencia
Seville
Cologne
Pau
Bilbao

Clymene · 30/07/2022 06:27

Oh yes and agree with other suggestions. Especially Venice

AnnaMagnani · 30/07/2022 09:29

Madrid
Trier - combine with wine tasting in the Mosel valley or Frankfurt or both
Bologna
Warsaw
Munich - for the Christmas market break and also it's awesome
Bruges - combined with Ghent or Antwerp or both
Thessaloniki
Athens

Vilnius is a fab place to explore - lots of history and as long as you don't go in the depths of winter quite a nice climate too. If you stay quite central then a lot of stuff is in easy walking distance too. No where near as big as, say, Lisbon or Barcelona but a fascinating place and the locals are super friendly.

happyharpy78 · 30/07/2022 09:36

Valencia is a hidden gem - lots to do for a weekend, relatively cheap when you are there

maddy68 · 30/07/2022 09:47

Nuremberg
Brugge
Seville
Girona
Valencia
Zaragoza

Are all some of my favourites

TheivingBIL · 30/07/2022 09:52

Porto
Lyon
Bordeaux
Valencia
San Sebastián

TheivingBIL · 30/07/2022 09:52

Lucca

Hellosunshine1993 · 30/07/2022 09:53

a lot of people don’t like it but I loved Athens. The food and the history were fantastic.

you could also do Aix en Provence - fly into Marseille and get the bus.

Hoolahulahoop · 30/07/2022 09:53

Porto - highly recommend
