Hello,

I’m looking for inspiration for European city breaks. I’ve done many but sure there’s some out there. I’d be happy to cluster two or three together.

I’ve already done / am doing soon (and don’t want to do again - want new places):
The UK - to death
Dublin
Paris
Barcelona
Berlin
Prague

Budapest
Amsterdam
leiden
Lisbon
Copenhagen
Malmo
Brussels
Rome
Florence
naples
lourdes
Krakow

All suggestions welcome, shorter the flight from the UK the better x

Thanks

Gdansk Christmas market is amazing

Another vote for Seville. We only tried it because we found some cheap flights, it's one of my favourite places.

Can anyone advise of the trip mentioned here, which are likely to be the cheapest in terms of flights, hotel and food and drink costs please?

I'm inspired by this thread to have a trip. But my budget won't stretch far.

Watch the climate, they say Madrid has nine months of winter and three months of hell! Having said that, I went in February and had blue skies and cold, crisp weather

Verona. Used it as a base for a week and went up to Lake Garda for the day. Also went to Venice overnight from Verona. Public transport pretty good and we didn't need a car. Also lovely things to see in the city itself.

Lyon and Helsinki. Puzzled at Valencia being called a 'hidden gem'.

Was in Madrid last weekend. LOVED it, up there with my favourites.

Was SO cheap ( in comparision to Dublin anyway )! Weather amazing , fab food, so much to see from an historical and cultural perspective, very 'walkable' !

Just wonderful !

Some lovely smaller cities in the Netherlands, outside of Amsterdam, and there’s a great railway network - very useful for a multi-centre trip.
DS2 had a semester in Utrecht, which is lovely. We also visited Rotterdam, he liked Den Haag, & Delft is highly recommended too.

I went to Madrid in December years ago and loved it. Sunny days, the Prado was empty, winter market, really wonderful holiday.

Currently in Málaga with the DC and have had a fab time, I would highly recommend. Really good art galleries, we had a lovely day at the Playa De El Palo (I grew up on an island and am fussy about beaches), enjoyed a flamenco performance and loved the Alcazaba and Castille. DD1 (13) says it's her favourite holiday ever!

I went to Granada years ago for a conference and adored it, keep telling DH once we've got rid of the DC we should do some city hopping in Andalusia, really want to spend a few weeks visiting Córdoba, Sevilla, Granada and Jerez.
