Jet2/Tui

Excuse my ignorance but are companies like Jet2 and Tui upmarket or chavvy and downmarket? What sort of holidays do they offer?

TuftyMarmoset · 16/07/2022 20:49

I agree with @LunaAzul. Don’t use jet2 unless you love that Jess Glynne song. We flew with them once to Croatia and they played the opening of it at least 20 times. We were scarred enough to have avoided them ever since 😅

Just4today · 16/07/2022 20:52

I think using they word "chavvy" is very common and displays bad manners

weebarra · 16/07/2022 20:53

Love Jet 2. Back on a flight today, efficient, nice, friendly staff, no bags lost. Flew with them, rented a villa separately.
Relatives we holidayed with went BA and were very delayed.

deedledeedledum · 16/07/2022 19:49

Nope. One that started talking at me told me they booked through Jet2 as did lots of the others as they were on the same plane

A common person actually had the temerity to attempt to engage you in conversation? I hope you gave them a sharp set-down for such impertinence!

Have you contacted your travel agent to ask to be moved to a more comfortable hotel?

Ohmydayssilleople · 16/07/2022 21:01

Using the word chavvy is extremely rude ,bad mannered and hostile exactly the type of person I am guessing you were hoping to avoid!
Also you really do need to pay attention to your spelling and grammar …lots of errors in your posts !
Can you start a new post when you book your next holiday ,giving flight and destination so I can be certain I avoid you!
Thank you and I hope you enjoy the rest of your holiday 😍

GrandSlamFinalee · 16/07/2022 21:10

You’re trying really hard to appear well travelled and non working-class in your posts

Quite. If you were that different to the 'chavs', you wouldn't be on Mumsnet complaining about this. You'd be on the phone to your PA or personal TA asking them to swap hotels for you.

You haven't travelled much apart from these non-chavvy resort holidays, have you? I've rarely met such a narrow-minded person in real life, definitely not one who has seen the world a bit.

I travel multiple times each month, most of them for work or to visit family scattered all around the world. I use everything from budget airlines to premium cabins on flag carriers. I remember one Jet2 flight a few years ago - it was on time, respectful staff, cheap fare, organised boarding process. Then I compare it with a Swiss Air 14h flight in business class I took a few months later. Rude staff, lack of food (they'd taken less portions than customers on board), refusal to take our coats or help a heavily pregnant passenger with overhead lockers, no drinks but a bottle of water, boarding a bit chaotic and lounge in the opposite direction of the gate. I know which experience I'd repeat again. Reputation of the company doesn't tell you anything.

One of my best ever flights was with Ryanair. I was exhausted from another flight early that morning + a full day at work, the staff were so lovely and told me to move to the back of the cabin where there was an empty row I could sleep in. Those flight attendants were some of the most professional people I've ever seen. We landed 30 minutes ahead of schedule.

Oh, and learn to spell. HTH.

Lykia · 16/07/2022 21:41

Firstly have my first Biscuit

Op you do realise that the world is accessible to anyone who can afford it?

You can pay £18k + to stay at the Maxx Royal in Turkey only for kids to whizz past you on scooters in the restaurants. Mini oligarchs and footballers stay there.

If you'd've checked Trip Advisor reviews and the forums before booking you would have known this information. Don't be a Luddite use all the tools available to ensure you know what to expect on arrival.

If someone with tattoos, thong bikinis and wall to wall labels like the same resorts as you then so be it. Colleen Rooney was once spotted on a Jet2 flight. I also believe she travels first class and private jet too.

People eh? How dare they step out of their station and indulge in some luxury. Hmm

Cloverforever · 16/07/2022 21:42

I recently flew with Jet2 for the first time and couldn't fault them.

jazzybelle · 16/07/2022 22:08

I've done Jet2 and Tui holidays and booked flights and accommodation independently. Jet2 and Tui offer perfectly decent resorts and hotels. The key thing is to choose your resort carefully. Then do the same with your hotel. You can check out the resort/hotel area on Google streetview.

If you choose somewhere not offered by Tui or Jet2, then book independently.

I've just got back this morning from a tui holiday and going out the plane was full of excited, happy families looking forward to their holidays and coming back it was full of content, tanned, happy families who have just had a lovely week in the sun.

You sound like a judgemental snob and I wouldn't recommend them to you purely because I wouldn't want to be sat by a dick like you on a plane.

Love this reply Smile

It depends also on the time of year you travel - eg Oct - mid-December it’s generally quiet, calm, well behaved middle aged and older travellers, I never encountered any issues at these times.

From May it changes to a different demographic. Also a Manchester flight to Say Antalya for example could be different again…

I like that Jet 2 give a lifetime ban where needed.

Despite the (slightly brash?) marketing style I totally love Jet 2 - the most efficient company I travel with, always a great check-in experience, boarding the aircraft in an organised fashion by zone rather than a free for all, and their “on board together” policy - (ie be respectful to people around you, misbehaviour will not be tolerated) is reassuring

I can’t fault them.

On our recent Jet2 holiday the pilot had to be called on the outbound flight as a man was vaping and refused to stop until the police off loaded him and then we had an hours delay whilst his luggage was found and off loaded. On the inbound flight Jet2 let so many drunk vomiting stags on the flight, again the flight was delayed whilst toilets were cleaned and the passengers had to use one toilet and the stags the other two toilets! Never again!

We booked with TUI for August and had a choice of airlines. Because timing suited us better we chose a BA flight instead of a TUI one.

We always have a rental car anyway so no transfer.

In April we were on the same EasyJet flight as a couple of hen do ladies we later saw boarding a TUI bus and ending in our 5* hotel we booked with TUI as hotel only option.

The idea that booking via TUI is chavy didn't cross my mind.

shinynewapple22 · 16/07/2022 22:56

So when you say a resort, you mean a hotel complex, rather than the town/village you are staying in/near? I think that's where you are going wrong then. Try looking for a villa with private pool next time .

shinynewapple22 · 16/07/2022 23:00

@Denny53 where did you travel to? I think you are more likely to have drunken groups on your flight if your airport also serves somewhere popular with hen/stag groups . I don't think it's anything to do with the carrier .

GuiltyPleasure · 16/07/2022 23:38

Any short haul, charter flight, which is what Jet2/TUI are, will have a mix of passengers all heading to the same destination, they then go to a 5 star or 1 star accommodation or whatever. No they don't do separate flights depending on the standard of your accommodation.
For what it's worth I always travel flight only with
Jet 2 to our regular holiday destination of Ibiza and have alway have had a good experience. We also always stay at 5* accommodation.
On our flights there's always a mixture of travellers; couples, families, stag & hen parties, families like ours, with a significantly disabled & autistic child. I imagine you wouldn't like people like us on your flight or at your hotel either.
I suspect OP you need to be looking at long-haul business/first class flights to avoid the people you look down on, rich or otherwise, or maybe even consider a private jet & private accommodation, so you can avoid the poor people completely Biscuit

The kids you speak of will likely be privately educated, as they have broken up now. Not exactly riff raff. You’ve obviously picked the wrong resort.

Your idea of rif raf and mine are clearly not the same. You obviously think rif raf are poor people. I think rig raf are poorly behaved and classless people. I don't judge on wealth like you do.

I think, OP, you want to go on holiday with discreet people, not discrete.

If you look the time to look at the TUI website you will see that you can book a luxury holiday to the same resorts that you currently go to and pick a different airline to fly with.

They have options to change the flights to British airways and Emirates. So you won't have to travel with us commoners.

You'll probably find your holiday cheaper than the posh independent Agents that you currently use.

NippyWoowoo · 17/07/2022 06:31

I like to holiday around discrete people. If indeed it is the more common end of society who book through Jet2 then I shall cross check in future and make sure any resort I look at doesn't feature on their site.

So do that then. No need to come to Mumsnet.

Yes I mean a resort as in a complex with restaurants, pools, room service, gym, staff changing your towels and offering you iced water and sliced fruit throughout the day, scuba centre etc. we did villas when the dc were very small but now we prefer service. Sometimes we get a villa on a resort but these tend to be more in SE Asia and the Indian Ocean. They are more available now in Europe but with young adult dc everyone is enjoying separate accommodations and then coming together for meals and lounging during the day

Jet2 are great....we have been on their indulgent escape holidays, adults only.

AuntieMarys · 17/07/2022 06:41

Worked out cheaper than booking hotel/ flights ourselves, with some extras thrown in.

So then why does anyone come onto MN? Kind of a weird suggestion as MN is a forum. You do understand what a forum is don't you? What do you use it for other than attacking people. Maybe that's your thing 🤷🏻‍♀️

So you’re in an all inclusive that does package holidays. That’s your mistake. We always choose adults only boutique hotels. Funnily enough we flew out to Ibiza on a jet2 flight yesterday. It was very well organised, no queues and the staff were helpful. There were families, couples and party goers on board. It wasn’t like business class but it was fine, it’s just the flight. We used to love exclusive escapes before they went broke but we never bothered travelling to stanstead where they flew from the private jet terminal, we just jumped on whatever flight was available from our nearest airport which was usually EasyJet.
