Jet2/Tui

Excuse my ignorance but are companies like Jet2 and Tui upmarket or chavvy and downmarket? What sort of holidays do they offer?

I'm going on a £15k TUI holiday to Costa Rica next week. Obviously I'll have the DC in brand new white Nikes, have trackie bottoms with Juicy across the arse for me and DH will be in his muscle tank with his tats on show. We'll be stocking up on Stella at the duty free on the way out cos the resort might not have it.

HidingFromDD · 16/07/2022 18:48

Tbh if you’re booking in the next few months your biggest concern should be whether the holiday gets cancelled! I flew tui in June and the flight out was 4 hours late. Full of relieved holiday makers just happy to be in the air. I get your concerns around the resort, although it’s less around whether it’s ‘chavvy’ and more is it quiet and peaceful as that’s what I’m looking for. Other people like more life and places to drink and that’s fine.

caveat. It does seem like a goady post. If that’s not the way it’s intended you may want to consider how you relate to people

@skeemee main carriers have all manner of people for sure. But my impression of charter flights is that MOST people are a bit 'common' for want if a better word. Maybe that's because like a pp said, the marketing seems aimed at a lower economic group

For someone from a higher economic group I’d have at least thought you had some basic internet skills. Like how to use Google.

OneFrenchEgg · 16/07/2022 19:01

God MN is full of goady posts atm. look at you all biting. Just ignore and they'll get bored.

Madcatgirl · 16/07/2022 19:11

Hyacinth, is that you?

xippo · 16/07/2022 19:20

the cheaper the holiday the chavvier it is, not many chavs on 10k+ holidays

Oh I disagree. Currently on an apparently luxury resort as I type. Lots of VERY chavvy types here. Clearly they have money but unlike so many on here, I don't equate money with taste or class. I've seen more fake boobs, perma-tan skin, over inflated lips, too many tattoos, head to toe loud designer, every label under the sun in all its glory and it's a pretty novel sight for me. I booked through one of the companies I mentioned. I've discovered this place is also advertised on Jet2 holidays. Thus my question. I have no doubts Jet2 sell holidays of a range of budgets. My question was what types of people use them. Because although this place is indeed beautiful, I don't ever want to holiday with this sort again. They are loud, common, obnoxious and allow their kids to run amok. They may have the means but I don't care. And I don't mind admitting it. I like to holiday around discrete people. If indeed it is the more common end of society who book through Jet2 then I shall cross check in future and make sure any resort I look at doesn't feature on their site. If on the other hand people on here says, no, Jet2 is used by all sorts then I'll just assume I've been unlucky. I don't know, people on MN might feel quite at home with fake boobs and lips shrieking in coarse cackling laughter too loud and men strutting about with weirdly inflated biceps and Versace trunks along with Gucci slides and kids with no manners running into you but funnily enough, I don't.

I suspect its far more to do with your choice of resort/hotel rather than the airlines who fly there

Absolutely this.

Sarahconnor1 · 16/07/2022 19:44

God you really are hideously judgemental, first your chavvy fellow travellers and now MNers who you think don't understand the difference between money and class. Alas you have demonstrated that difference so well.

Louise0701 · 16/07/2022 19:45

@deedledeedledum guess what, OP; they might of booked through the same company you did! The horror.

Sickofthisdressandthesejimmychoos · 16/07/2022 15:16

I've just got back this morning from a tui holiday and going out the plane was full of excited, happy families looking forward to their holidays and coming back it was full of content, tanned, happy families who have just had a lovely week in the sun.

You sound like a judgemental snob and I wouldn't recommend them to you purely because I wouldn't want to be sat by a dick like you on a plane.

Exactly this!

Maybe. I was messaging an acquaintance and she said she was here around 9 years ago and it was perfect but then she was back just pre-Covid and she felt the place was being marketed differently as she also found it to be chavvy albeit rich chavvy (Chav is not about wealth. It's about behaviour in my mind. You can have a very modest life but gracious and decent or wealthy and crass). Hence my post. I was trying to figure out how and where it was being marketed and as I don't think any other place I've stayed at features in Jet2/Tui website I wondered if Jet2/Tui was popular with a certain type of person. What I have discovered is it seems to be used by angry, defensive people who go on the attack. Which tbh answers my question pretty well.

Nope. One that started talking at me told me they booked through Jet2 as did lots of the others as they were on the same plane

TUI (crystalski) is one of the largest ski holiday operators, certainly not chavvy

Louise0701 · 16/07/2022 19:57

where are you currently?

deedledeedledum · 16/07/2022 20:03

Louise0701 · 16/07/2022 19:57

where are you currently?

Obviously I'm not going to disclose that. There may be MNers here or people I know back home who I've chatted with like the acquaintance I mentioned. The point of MN is the anonymity. It means people can be honest and speak their mind.

OP posts:
Louise0701 · 16/07/2022 20:06

@deedledeedledum I doubt a mumsnetter saying she in Barbados at the same time as a man wearing Gucci sliders is blowing your anonymity but ok 😂
For future holidays; bare in mind many premier league footballers and their families, many of whom fit your description, will be on holiday at the moment as their Childrens schools have already broken up. Maybe try going around May time if you wish to avoid this in future.

I assume the poster was asking me what resort I was at not which country. There would be no point asking me which country as there are different types of resort in most countries.

deedledeedledum · 16/07/2022 20:18

Oh and the bums. So many bums. Tiny string bikini bottoms up women's arses. I have never seen so much arsage in my life. Everywhere you look, bums, fake boobs and inflated lips. It's like a resort full of inflatables.

OP posts:
PartyPlan · 16/07/2022 20:26

The kids you speak of will likely be privately educated, as they have broken up now. Not exactly riff raff. You’ve obviously picked the wrong resort.

Proudofeveryone · 16/07/2022 20:30

OP could you please let everyone know where you choose to go on holiday
in the future. As I'm sure not one person on MN would like to be on holiday
at the same hotel as you.

Doubleraspberry · 16/07/2022 20:37

I think, OP, you want to go on holiday with discreet people, not discrete.

skeemee · 16/07/2022 20:39

hopeishere · 16/07/2022 18:22

I found jet2 fine and we are very posh 😉

Metoo! I’m verra verra posh and have found tui and jet2 perfectly fine. Tatts lips and boobage are very much the norm these days.

LunaAzul · 16/07/2022 20:42

Jet2 are the worst airline. They lock you on the plane for an hour after you land and play that Jess Glynne song on repeat. Best you avoid them.
