Jet2/Tui

Excuse my ignorance but are companies like Jet2 and Tui upmarket or chavvy and downmarket? What sort of holidays do they offer?

I've always booked with companies like these and found they cater for all markets so you can have a cheap and cheerful apartment holiday up to a 5 star luxury hotel.

I prefer to book a package rather than flights, transfers, hotels etc all separately.

MajorCarolDanvers · 16/07/2022 15:01

Both offer everything from bargains to luxury.

Strangerthings4NW · 16/07/2022 15:02

They do both

FreyaStorm · 16/07/2022 15:05

They’ve always struck me as downmarket, perhaps it’s their TV advertising.

I did also. I guess it was the whole charter plane thing. I imagined a whole plane load of roudy louts wearing muscle tanks. Do they stick all the people going to the same sort of place on the same plane? I know I'm going to get slated but if I'm going on holiday, I don't want the start and end of it to be surrounded by .... (nothing I say is going to be acceptable so I'm going to stop now). I've always booked with a travel company like ITC, Abercrombie and Kent, Elegant Resorts etc but I can see a few of the same resorts appear on the Jet2 and Tui websites. Also loads of other resorts that I've never heard of.

I've just got back this morning from a tui holiday and going out the plane was full of excited, happy families looking forward to their holidays and coming back it was full of content, tanned, happy families who have just had a lovely week in the sun.

You sound like a judgemental snob and I wouldn't recommend them to you purely because I wouldn't want to be sat by a dick like you on a plane.

RaraRachael · 16/07/2022 15:18

Each country has resorts that cater for different tastes, but I'm afraid if you want to go to a luxury hotel you just might have to share the same flight as lager louts going to a cheap and cheerful place.

On a trip to Rhodes, we were the last drop off point for the bus so we had to go around some very dodgy looking places disgorging equally undesirable looking types en route to our 5 star hotel. It's scarred me for life and I can barely bring myself to book these sort of holidays again.

dementedpixie · 16/07/2022 15:21

We used Jet2 for flights and villa plus for a villa this year. At least Jet2 isn't cancelling hundreds of flights plus on our way home we took off 10 minutes early!

thesunwillout · 16/07/2022 15:22

For goodness sake.

A plane full of people happy to go on holiday is normal.

As in life people are all different.

How on earth do manage to get down a high street or thru a supermarket 😂

HaveANiceFuckingDay · 16/07/2022 15:23

I've just got back from a jet2 holiday and the plane was fine , all sorts of people , not one rude / lairy / lager lout person on there . I was actually sat in the wrong seat by mistake and when the passenger who's seat it was pointed this out I was incredibly apologetic and he said it was fine and sat in my seat , the seat I should have been in. It was even extra legroom , it was the exit plane seat so might have paid extra or booked it early.

There was one crying baby on the plane but honestly the baby was that tiny it looks only a few days or a couple weeks old

thesunwillout · 16/07/2022 15:24

Omg if you don't want to get on a coach for a transfer get a taxi!

shinynewapple22 · 16/07/2022 15:26

Never heard of the companies you mention .

We normally travel independently and therefore book our flights and accommodation separately. We've used Jet2 for flights and found them to be pretty good.

From your POV you may also wish to consider how many of the other independent travellers booking flights only that you may wish to avoid .

dementedpixie · 16/07/2022 15:26

Our flights were full of nice people too (Jet2). The kids were well behaved, noone was loud or drunk. You sound like a snob tbh

dementedpixie · 16/07/2022 15:27

And we hired a car so no coach transfer either

EnglishGirlApproximately · 16/07/2022 15:28

What a bizarre question. ITC, A&C etc just buy seats from airlines so there's absolutely no guarantee that you won't be surrounded by 'chavs' when you travel with them either!
Jet2 and TUI both cover pretty much the widest spectrum of tastes and budgets, the ones you mentioned are specialists thats the only difference.

I've worked in travel. If you've usually booked with ITC, Elegant resorts etc then you're going to find us all Chavvy. Grin

ClassSize2022 · 16/07/2022 15:35

I think they would appreciate not having your custom! Ta ra chuck!

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 16/07/2022 15:35

Just book with your normal companies.

Us downmarket lot (me with my degree from Cambridge, my DH with his PhD) don’t want to be saddled with the likes of you at the start and end of our holiday.

SenoritaNaturista · 16/07/2022 15:38

It depends also on the time of year you travel - eg Oct - mid-December it’s generally quiet, calm, well behaved middle aged and older travellers, I never encountered any issues at these times.

From May it changes to a different demographic. Also a Manchester flight to Say Antalya for example could be different again…

I like that Jet 2 give a lifetime ban where needed.

Despite the (slightly brash?) marketing style I totally love Jet 2 - the most efficient company I travel with, always a great check-in experience, boarding the aircraft in an organised fashion by zone rather than a free for all, and their “on board together” policy - (ie be respectful to people around you, misbehaviour will not be tolerated) is reassuring

I can’t fault them.

Totally agree. You do realise these companies cater for all budgets? Perhaps there should be a riff raff section and one for the classier folk like you 🙄🙄 Get over yourself love

Afterfire · 16/07/2022 15:41

You do realise you can book everything from a short break for ££ to a 5 star platinum resort for £££££ in the Maldives or wherever you like with Tui? It offers something for everyone. Jet2 is similar but they don’t offer long haul.

Considering the cost of living crisis at the moment and the fact that very many people are struggling to even feed their families I don’t think you can call ANY holiday provider downmarket or “chavvy”!

Toottooot · 16/07/2022 15:43

Probs need to look into chartering your own plane hun.

Louise0701 · 16/07/2022 15:43

You’re trying really hard to appear well travelled and non working-class in your posts yet you claim to of never heard of places Jet2 travel to. So Spain, France, Italy, Croatia, Portugal, Greece & Cyprus in the main.
Shot yourself in the foot there, dear.

Also, the fact you don’t know an aeroplane to Spain carries people all travelling to Spain almost made me spit out my coffee. What a twat 😂

So when you’ve previously travelled with ITC or Elegant Resorts, did they book you a private jet? As far as I’m aware, all independent travel companies use all airlines, so you’ve no guarantee who you might sit beside. They certainly don’t screen the passengers according to the star rating of their destination hotel.

Likewise tui and jet2 don’t lay on a separate plane for those going to luxury accommodation. I think you’re being daft (or goady) to think they might….. they would be bankrupt in no time.
