Majorca was too hot, where next?

Just back from majorca, Cala Millor, lovely hotel right on the beach, great pool etc but we just found the 29/30 degree heat too hot! Any ideas for a similar holiday next year but somewhere not so hot? I haven't travelled much and I'm wondering about Croatia? Open to any other suggestions. We're two adults, no kids. Thanks

I'd imagine anywhere in the med is going to be those sorts of temps next year and forever more. If you want cooler but still pleasant I'd suggest further north!

LizzieSiddal · 12/07/2022 21:04

Scotland?

beachmum1 · 12/07/2022 21:04

Go in May Instead

Cantstandsmugness · 12/07/2022 21:04

Madeira

123Callie · 12/07/2022 21:06

Yes I’d just go earlier or later in the season. Late September would probably be nice.

PlanetNormal · 12/07/2022 21:07

What temperatures were you expecting in Mallorca in July?

Noln · 12/07/2022 21:08

Morocco or Dubai 😜

Anywhere on the med in the summer will be hot. Surely that's obvious? Why do you think Croatia will be cooler? You need to go at a different time of year, or further north.

HardRockOwl · 12/07/2022 21:09

Also curious as to what you expected op 😀 Of course it will be hot in the med in July. Croatia will also be hot in July

Your best bet is to go away in mid May

devildeepbluesea · 12/07/2022 21:09

Algarve in June is warm but breezy.

FiddlefigOnTheRoof · 12/07/2022 21:10

I’m not keen on beach holidays over 28 degrees - the Med in shoulder season is what you need. And it will prob be cheaper as it’s out of school holidays.

whenwillthemadnessend · 12/07/2022 21:12

Greek islands that have a good wind but if I was child
Free I'd go late may or late sept

Yodaisawally · 12/07/2022 21:13

NI, Ireland or Scotland. Brilliant holiday places. Mainland Europe is hit, and getting hotter.

SouthOfFrance · 12/07/2022 21:13

Germany?

Pkwi · 12/07/2022 21:14

Scotland !

AndreaC74 · 12/07/2022 21:15

Climate change makes picking a hols destination on its weather a waste of time.

We ve been in Mallorca in March and had 26 plus, gone in May and had 15 with rain.

Scandinavia is probably your best bet if you can only go in July/August

PlanetNormal · 12/07/2022 21:16

Some members of my family once went to Sharm el Sheikh in August and came home complaining loudly about the heat. They seemed quite put out when I asked them what sort of weather they were expecting in Egypt in August… 🙄

OrinocoGlow · 12/07/2022 21:17

Maybe look at Brittany, that's usually like the south of England plus one or two degrees. Or the Channel Islands?

honeyfox · 12/07/2022 21:19

I was in Croatia two weeks ago and similar temperatures, but it was dry heat and manageable as we didn't have kids with us.

Oblomov22 · 12/07/2022 21:19

What? What did you expect? We went to Majorca at Easter and it was 24 degrees, perfect.

honeyfox · 12/07/2022 21:20

Sorry just saw you didn't have kids either! Defo go May or September/October, that's what we usually do.

Benjispruce4 · 12/07/2022 21:20

Croatia is 34 in the shade this week. Go to Majorca bit earlier or later in the year. Avoid med in summer. Northern France is nice. We used to go to south Brittany with our Dc in August. It’s would be 21-25 .

yikesanotherbooboo · 12/07/2022 21:24

Portugal , has Atlantic breezes with Southern European temperatures.
Anywhere in the Med is going to be hot and in many ways Mallorca is better than most.
If you go to west France eg Vendee you should get warm temps but seaside breezier. We f you head up to Brittany or Normandy the weather is less reliable but should give you a good holiday without getting too hot.If you want to take a bit of a chance, there are lovely beaches in northern Germany and Dennark.

Peaceatdawn · 12/07/2022 21:25

I can't do Majorca in the summer anymore, last couple of times we had 35-40c! I seem to hit a 'heatwave' every time I go.
Fuerteventura in July was perfect for me, never more than 25c and breezy. Needed a cardi in the evening and it wasn't too hot to sleep.

Changechangychange · 12/07/2022 21:26

Most summer beach holidays will be that sort of temperature - that is what most people are looking for (not me, I hate the heat, so we stay in the UK).

You could look at Northern Europe - Brittany, Cornwall, Wales, Ireland, or Denmark and Sweden also have lovely beaches. Or think about lakes? Switzerland/Austria/Bavaria/Italian alps have some great summer resorts.

This might be too far away, but we did a road trip around Nova Scotia, PEI and Cape Breton a few summers ago and it was absolutely glorious. Amazing Sandy beaches, great seafood, not that expensive once you get there.

GiantKitten · 12/07/2022 21:27

Madeira, as a PP suggested, is a good shout. Temperatures there don’t vary much all year.

Crete tends to be cooler than other parts of the Med.

Most places will be so much more pleasant in May/June though!
