I have been so stupid and only applied last week for me and my son!
We go on holiday mid June and sent it off last week!
Sent out old passports back too and not showing as received yet!
Serves me right for been disorganised!

I took photos using my phone as part of the online process

Butterfly44 · 30/04/2022 09:25

Applied 8 April got it on 27th - so around 3 weeks

tribpot · 05/05/2022 09:35

Just a quick update from me. Posted on 23rd April to Newport and I've just had the message from the Passport Office to say it's been received. Phew!

tribpot · 06/05/2022 19:02

Just now had the text to confirm my application has been approved and the passport is being printed. Just under 2 weeks since I posted the old passport.

finally have an update… approved!

applied on 20 April, approved today… on a Sunday. Massively impressed. Hopefully it’s printed in time, we fly in 3 weeks! Feeling extremely lucky

@Pompom2367 have you heard anything further back from the passport office? I have sent our families of 5 passports off for renewal using the paper forms to Durham and I have had one text saying they arrived and they charged my credit card the £350 fee. Dh changed his first name via deed poll and the passport office advised his and 3 dc renewals could not be done online because of this and to request them processed together for documentation reasons, so sent my renewal off with there for ease. We have roughly the same timeline, I hoping no news is good news but previously had them back in a couple of weeks.

Jane077 · 10/05/2022 15:30

Can I join the nail-biting wait? Submitted application for DS's renewal on 4th May. We're (supposed to be) flying on July 8th. Jeez I hope we have left enough time. We were planning to do Fast Track, but it was stressing my out so much trying to get an appointment, they were all full and website constantly crashing, that I decided to do it old fashioned way. To make matters worse, Royal Mail tracking says the passport is still in Peterborough's postal office, but apparently it's because so many passports arrive at the passport office, they don't bother scanning them all, so Royal Mail have told me they're pretty sure it'll be in a pile somewhere - not that reassuring.
How's everyone else doing? @Pompom2367 why on earth did they charge you so much? @Rellz fast work. I'm guessing that wasn't Peterborough's passport office, though?

Rellz · 10/05/2022 16:08

@Jane077 Liverpool! I have seen other posts saying that Liverpool had delays but it really is a roulette it seems

tribpot · 11/05/2022 12:22

Mine has just arrived! (Literally 10 mins ago from DHL) so the full timeline for me, using Newport, was:

  • 20 April: did application online

  • 23 April: posted to Newport

  • 5 May: acknowledgement of receipt of old passport

  • 6 May: passport approved

  • 9 May: passport printed

  • 11 May: passport delivered

So 18 days from old passport being sent to new passport being received

Land0r · 11/05/2022 14:29

I have done 2 online applications recently (taking photos on a phone) and staggered slightly due to cost.

DD1's was a first adult one - went to Corby and took 3 weeks 2 days. This included the Easter bank holidays and the wait for her to turn 16 before it could be approved.

My own came back yesterday. That went to Liverpool and took 2 weeks 5 days.

For both, the longest part was waiting for them to acknowledge that the old passports had been received (I knew they had due to Royal Mail tracking). I had mine in my hand 3 days after receiving this notification - just the regular service, not fast track or anything. There were other updates for approval, printing and dispatching, but all very close together.

Good luck to all those waiting.

Nodancingshoes · 11/05/2022 21:15

Applied for 2 adult renewals on the 20th April - both new passports delivered to us early this week so approx 3 weeks. RM never showed my old passport delivered to the passport office so I was freaking out but it obviously did get delivered ok

Nodancingshoes · 11/05/2022 21:16

One was the Durham office and one Hemel Hempstead

radness75 · 12/05/2022 13:24

Just got an email yesterday to say my passport has been printed. That has been since the 2nd of march, pretty much 10 weeks! I posted my daughters one to durham 2 weeks ago and there has been no email to say they have even received it so goodness knows how long this will take to remew. Thankfully the holiday is in oct! It so interesting to see such a variation in the processing times.

bellsbuss · 12/05/2022 13:32

I did 3 renewals in March and had 2 back within 3 weeks . 1 was stuck in processing for 6 weeks, got a call back last week and received passport on Monday. That one took nearly 8 weeks. They all went to different passport offices

Mintyt · 19/05/2022 05:32

Still waiting for one. I have now emailed a complaint to my MP who has given me a case number and will take it up with the home office. The PP office have now fast tracked it. But I have lost faith

LSEparent · 19/05/2022 05:40

Applied for renewal online 11 April, received yesterday

SpritzingAperol · 19/05/2022 14:34

I did Check & Send via the post office 12 days ago. Just got a text today saying they have received it and it would take 10 weeks.

Does that mean from when I dropped it off do you think? Or from today. So best part of 3 months?

Any thoughts?

SewingSwimmer · 20/05/2022 11:58

Still waiting for a child’s one to be renewed at 8week mark today Liverpool- my husbands took two weeks!? Child’s is still sitting on the system 😬
I’ve also realised child 2 will need a new one soon as she had 5yrs and 7mths on it at last renewal so now that 7mths doesn’t count in Europe!

Hotelhelp · 20/05/2022 12:44

17 days for an adult name change/renewal here. Still waiting on the kids renewals.

The group is really helpful on Facebook but will also fuel the anxiety I think. The general consensus seems to be two weeks before travel they will expedite your application and 48 hours before travel people are having success with turning up at the passport office.

Not exactly how you want to enjoy the build up to your holiday though!!

radness75 · 20/05/2022 20:58

My one has just taken 11 weeks through the post office so unsure what passport office it went to. I submitted my daughters online myself 3 weeks ago and it is out for delivery. That was the durham office. It seems it is all very random.

failing40s · 20/05/2022 21:05

Just had a child renewal that went to Bootle turned around in less than 2 weeks! Did the application online and took my own photo.

DottyLittleRainbow · 20/05/2022 21:10

Applied 3rd April for DC when turnaround was advertised as only 5 weeks. Child renewal. Sent all that was needed, logged as old passport/documents received on 21st, then they asked for more documents on 2nd May. So sent those on 6th May and I’m getting chased by email and text for the new documents but they’ve had them since 9th.

We’ve got a wedding abroad where my DC will see their friend who they haven’t seen since 2019. Can’t get through to anyone on the phone to even see why they need more documents or what’s going on. It’s at Peterborough.

Will be livid if it doesn’t come, due to travel in 4 weeks and I’ll have to go alone and leave the kids with DH.

Meanwhile my adult renewal with name change took less than 4 weeks but did go to a different office.

WombatNo12 · 20/05/2022 21:11

DHs pp has just come back in 20 days.

Flidina · 20/05/2022 21:25

2 child renewals applied online 22nd April, one to Durham, took 2 weeks to delivery of new passport and one to Newport, took 2.5 weeks, used digital photos with code.
