I have been so stupid and only applied last week for me and my son!
We go on holiday mid June and sent it off last week!
Sent out old passports back too and not showing as received yet!
Serves me right for been disorganised!

I started the process on the 2nd of march through the post office so i have no idea which passport office it went to, no sign of it 8 weeks down the line. I just posted my daughters today for renewal. We are in scotland and have been asked to post to durham. God knows when hers will turn up. Our holiday is not until oct thankfully but would just like them asap!

Sallyingon · 28/04/2022 21:52

I applied on the 5th April and received it on the 21st April. It was the Newport office.

ABlindAssassin · 28/04/2022 21:55

Took 2 weeks and 2.5 weeks for my DCs renewals.

SleepyLittleUnicorn · 28/04/2022 22:00

Applied for 4 and waiting for 3. Sent two children ones off together on 8th March. One arrived no problem 12th April, the other was rejected on the same day and needed more documents sending. Same two parents, same information for both si don't understand.

Other two we are waiting for are 2 adult renewals. All 4 passports have been sent to different locations.

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 28/04/2022 22:01

We're not going until mid August so I'm hoping I've left plenty of time!

3 passports, 3 online applications sent to 3 different passport offices. 2 have received the old passport after a couple of weeks. Both then declined the photo. 1 new photo accepted and passport approved instantly after that. 1 awaiting acceptance of the new photo. 1 still waiting for old passport to be received. Photo taken in same way as the others so expecting to have to submit a new one for that too.

For all applicants, my photos taken in front of a white sheet have been rejected for being in front of a textured or patterned background so beware.

dementedpixie · 28/04/2022 22:03

My ds's photo was taken against a magnolia painted wall in my house

BettyOBarley · 28/04/2022 22:08

We've just done an adult renewal, a child's renewal (separate offices in Liverpool) and a child's first passport (Glasgow) and all we're back within 4 weeks. That was in Feb.

Isolated101 · 28/04/2022 22:18

Child renew sent March 18th, been on ‘being processed’ since 24th March. Automated voice message when you ring says not to chase and nothing they can do until it has been 10 weeks, so a while longer to wait. I’m too worried to book anything until it’s back.

IamChipmunk · 28/04/2022 22:28

I've just done a renewal for dd. Applied on 3rd April and new one was dispatched on 19th. That included having to resubmit a photo online as first was rejected.
Our stuff was sent to Corby...

I have however heard nothing about all our GHIC cards that I applied for on the same day!

sellthesizzle · 28/04/2022 22:31

Applied for my DDs Easter week and got it back yesterday - online application.

Pompom2367 · 28/04/2022 22:36

I used paper forms and sent them off through the post office check and send on the 7th they confirmed they received it on the 19th one was a first child passport one was a lost adult passport no further update yet

Newmummy9 · 28/04/2022 22:39

I would go straight for a fast track, take away the stress. You’ll have to book an appointment first thing in the morning as the come available three weeks in advance but get snapped up really quickly

Newmummy9 · 28/04/2022 22:43

It’s definitely worth ringing them and seeing what they can do. They’re quite helpful on the phone. It says don’t contact them for 10 weeks but it’s worth contacting them a couple of weeks before you travel because they can fast track it. Just keep the pressure on them and keep making a fuss. It’s painful but it pays off I think

Stopsnowing · 28/04/2022 22:48

I applied for child’s passport end Feb. There was an issue which delayed things. I sent clarification. Heard nothing. Called the cal centre which couldn’t help but might have done the trick as the following day I was informed it was being printed

flamingo40 · 28/04/2022 22:51

Applied 9 April, my renewal and my daughters moving from child to first adult one, received this week.
Very impressed how quick and easy it was to do online

TokyoSushi · 28/04/2022 22:56

I only applied yesterday (adult renewal) and posted my old passport yesterday too. It's gone to Liverpool, we don't go away until the end of August so surely it'll be fine!

RupertTheCat · 29/04/2022 13:02

Applied for a child renewal, sent documents to Peterborough, which I’ve read has lots of delays. I got notification that they received documents yesterday so I’m assuming that the up to 10 weeks they quote starts from now?

Who is waiting for a passport?
RupertTheCat · 29/04/2022 17:52

Just got notification that the application has been approved.
I’m shocked it was so quick as I’ve read that Peterborough has big delays and that’s where we sent the documents.

MargotMoon · 29/04/2022 18:05

I applied on 11th April, posted my old one back the next day which was received on 21st (I used 1st class Signed For, not guaranteed next day delivery) and received my new passport yesterday (28th). This was through Liverpool

PaganOfTheGoodTimes · 29/04/2022 18:11

Yep, sent in one renewal and one new three weeks ago... the renewal has been updated to documents received and the other nothing, both sent recorded at the same time, both showing as delivered on Royal mails website... holiday at end of July so hopefully 🙏 they'll come.

Diditreallylookawful · 30/04/2022 08:09

Two adult renewals. One to Bootle, one to Liverpool. Second one came back 4 days ago. Both applied start of April and both, weirdly, took 17 days from online application to new passports being delivered.

One thing that did help was getting the photos done at Max Spielmann (the high Street retailer) as they checked the photo was OK. DH and I still look awful in the photos, but they were accepted without issue.

ButtOutBobsMum · 30/04/2022 08:24

Just done DS's. Applied online on 24th April, did our own photos, sent old passport back day after and new passport arrived yesterday.

Sorry-applies on 11th April!!

Mintyt · 30/04/2022 09:01

Applied 16 feb. Mum dad and 2 boys. Mum and dad back. One boys back yesterday the other still processing- I've heard that if the staff don't go back to working in the office and being efficient they will be privatised

Hotelhelp · 30/04/2022 09:09

We are off for photos today to get ours done.

Have been trying for the last few days to get a fast track appointment as would definitely rather have just paid the extra for less stress but none available every time I check so I think we just need to get them done now!

Holiday is end of July.
