It seems first passports are taking a lot longer @trevthecat was the address that you had to send your supporting docs to the Bootle office in Liverpool?

Is it normalTo get text/email asking for the documents after they've been signed for ?!!had little panic just now !!

@stillherenow yes, I’ve had multiple messages asking me for mine. Even had a message say they will withdraw my application if I don’t send my docs.

it’s now been 7 weeks since they were signed for and it’s still not showing that they’ve received them.

@UsernameIsAlreadyTaken I would call them incase they have lost it!

@Scottishskifun I’ve been calling them continuously. I’ve racked up over 30 calls to them now.

I either get hung up on, promised a call back or told that they will look into it.

I’m writing to my MP this afternoon as a last resort.

Also in the same boat as a lot of people here. The documents have now been confirmed as received but nothing since. Those who have said the photo was rejected, do they give a reason? I also had the issue with their crop missing off the top of the head despite there being lots of white space around but the indicator thing went to green so I assumed it was OK and they would crop it manually?
@ashp100 That sounds positive. So we should have an update by Friday! Are you going to apply for the fast track on Thursday?
Easter Monday I mean Confused it's been a long day!

Hope you get the fast track sorted tomorrow.

Yesterday I got a notification that my application has been approved and today they've sent another notification that it has been printed 🙌 Hoping that I get a similar update for the second passport soon.

Have you heard anything since speaking with them?

Heres our timeline so far… It really seems to be luck of the draw!

Child renewal application submitted 29th March
Documents sent 30th March
Documents received 5th April
Application approved 8th April
Passport printed 13th April - not arrived yet!

Child’s first passport application submitted 29th March
Documents sent 30th March
Documents received 8th April
And crickets since then! We haven’t booked anywhere as I was too nervy, but have A/L end of May so crossing my fingers!

Following on from this - first passport arrived today at long last - no tracking details or dispatch notifications received, it just turned up via Royal Mail Special Delivery.
No further updates on second passport though, don’t think its worth phoning based on others attempts! Crossing fingers for everyone on this thread.

Has anyone had any luck expediting their child's renewal passport if it has taken 10 weeks and still not returned? DD passport documents were received 17th March and her passport has been stuck in processing ever since. We go away early June and now I am really nervous. Thanks

Yes. I had a previous thread on our passport debacle. To cut a long story short, DH managed to get it expedited 2 days before we travelled. Completely by luck he got through on the phone to someone who was motivated to do something to help rather than just suck air through their teeth and say 'sorry, you just have to wait for it to turn up'. Apparently they were just putting a new process in place to expedite applications for people in 'our situation'. Not sure what qualified us - possibly because they'd given us the wrong advice previously about being able to withdraw the application and do a fast track. In any case, DH went in person to the passport office the next day and they printed it there and then. It was all a bit of a miracle really.

Thank you so much for updating your experience. I managed to get through to someone this afternoon. She advised that it is too early to upgrade at the moment as it's only been there 6 weeks. I need to wait another 2 weeks before I can do anything but I can then pay £70 and have it fast tracked to returned within the week. She said she couldn't see any reason why it is stuck in processing and was confident that we will get it before we get to that stage. I can't say I share her confidence. Thank you and glad you managed to get your passport in time.

Just to update with our experience, child 1st passport, docs sent 25th March and passport arrived yesterday (26th April) so a month which is not as bad as I suspected. Adult renewal docs sent 28th march and passport arrived a week ago, so maybe 18th April ish. Just in case it gives anyone hope on the estimates being over!

Hi. I applied for first child passport on 21st March. My timescale was:
5th April: documents recieved (2 weeks after Royal Mail confirmed delivery)
20th April: Application Approved
21st April: Passport Printed
26th April: Passport delivered by TNT

A painful wait for me too! Many phone calls made to update, try to upgrade! But thankfully it arrived in time!

Finally received my daughter's passport on Tuesday (10th May) after first applying on 16th Feb. So only took 12 weeks - or a quarter of a year 😕

When I saw the info about passports taking 10 weeks or longer, I panicked as we have a holiday booked for July and my kids passports needed renewing. I sent both off on 22nd April, one to Newport and the other to Durham, Newport passport came yesterday, just logged on and Durham passport was approved yesterday, so hopefully should receive it shortly.

Can I ask if anyone has been asked to have identity confirmed again? A friend did it for me, all seemed correct, I’ve just had an email saying I need to get someone to confirm my identity. No explanation.

I just got same message and I'm completely confused, is there some kind of technical error or I actually need ask someone else to verify identity for my baby boy?!
