That’s good - mine took just over a week from that point

Be aware that you won’t necessarily get a dispatched message. I got a printed message and four days later it turned up.

Ah this thread is not what I wanted to read, waiting for two, a child first passport and an adult renewal - sent docs 25th and 28th march. Website says 5 weeks and I've just seen something I'd like to book for end of may but doesn't look sensible to risk it with these timescales!

@seaduck we applied 2nd March. Online tracking still says ‘we’ve received your application’. Been stuck at that for about 2.5 weeks. I should have thought end of May would be ok though?

I think end of may would be ok but you’d have an anxious wait to be sure. Most are coming through in a month or so but some do get inexplicably delayed and then there’s little you can do.

Applied for 1st passport for our 1 year old on 16th Feb. Status been showing as 'application being processed' since 10th March. Have called every day this week for an update as we have our first family holiday booked for this coming Saturday! They can't tell me anything - just 'we'll put a note on it'. So upset we won't be able to go.

I was advised about emergency appointment too so glad you said they won't allow you to withdraw current application! Emergency still means 7 day turnaround anyway and we can't get anything before Friday.

We applied end of Feb, still waiting - we've had a couple of things causing a delay though, including them asking for a letter of consent from me, as DH applied. V Frustrating! We got 'application approved' last Tuesday, nothing since. We fly next Tuesday, fingers crossed.

My daughter's renewal application was made online on 14th March, and was in my hand on 31st. On the tracker online it still only says that it has been printed and will be sent to the courier in the next few days. My son's was sent at the same time and his application was approved on 30th. No news on printing yet and we travel on 15th April.

Oh gosh, we applied on 8th March, sent birth certificate on 10th… took 2 weeks for them to confirm receipt of it. Now just waiting… was hoping to go away end of April but thankfully haven’t booked anything…

I applied for 2 x new children’s passports around the same time as you. I have a holiday booked beginning of June so keeping everything crossed! I thought it was going to be a 5 week turnaround but reading Twitter it seems like it might be a long, anxious wait!

Ah good luck - I'm sure it will be fine but I think we've decided to try and get something last minute once we have had the text to say it is authorised. In also a tiny bit anxious about the photo as for some reason the passport photo thing didn't let me have the option to modify their "crop" and it cut off a tiny edge of the top of my daughters hair, but wouldn't let me change it myself despite the whole picture having plenty of white space above her head - I read some other thread where other people had this issue. Confused

Eeek- slightly nervous about this. We sent out child's old passport to them 10 days ago and still no word on if they have received it. We fly in 6 weeks.

My application history so far for one of the new Child's passports:

  • Application submitted 22 March
  • Identity details received 22 March
  • Application received 22 March

I sent the documents on 23 March
  • Document received 5 April

No news on the other new passport yet but I applied for that a week after this one...

I’m having an absolute nightmare with my 2 DCs passports

1 renewal - applied on 27 Feb and we got the new passport about 4 weeks later but there was a spelling mistake! We’ve had to post it back for them to amend and haven’t heard anything despite chasing.

1 new passport - applied 27th Feb, we sent the supporting docs and have Royal Mail confirmation they were signed for on 3rd March.

Online tracking is still showing ‘send us your documents’. I phoned about 10 times now chasing, I either get put on hold for 2 hours, hung up on or told I’ll get a call back.

No one can tell me anything and it’s beyond infuriating! I checked their Twitter feed last night and looks like everyone is in similar situations. Absolute nightmare.

@lillyrabbit is the 5 weeks new child passport time from application or from documents being accepted?

This is the entire process from start to finish - we applied online on at the beginning of March. We posted the supporting docs 2/3 days later, but they took around 3 weeks to be acknowledged by the passport office. After that it took a week for the passport to be approved, another couple of days for printing, and then it arrived at the beginning of this week. Haven't received the birth certificate back yet but I'm sure it will turn up at some point!
