Oh I have found my people!
I ADORE travelling! I love the research & the planning & as someone else said, the remembering afterwards. It sustains me in some vital way & makes me feel alive.
I actually have a really interesting & creative job & a nice life so it's not like I have to get through the monotony of a job I ensure to get to a holiday. But I've always loved loved loved travel.
We're fans of city breaks & we love art & culture & museums & food & wine. Not into beach holidays at all. So we do a real mix every few years we do long haul & have been to Australia 5 times, Canada, USA, Thailand, China.
Inbetween we do European city breaks & national breaks. We're not in the UK.
The pandemic was so tough as travel was so off the cards but we considered ourselves v lucky as we were in Italy in Feb 2020 right before it all broke!
Last year we managed to squeeze in Dublin x 2, Galway, Malaga & Budapest.
This year we were in London in February for 3 days.
We're heading to Venice over Easter. Berlin in June. Dublin late June/ early July. Malaga October & we'll go somewhere in December.
Possibly Barcelona in September. Dh may have a work trip there not 100% confirmed yet. If he does we'll go with him.
Unless it's long haul we usually don't go for longer than a week as we prefer to have more shorter breaks than 1 long one.
We spend most of our disposable income on travel. I am really good at getting v cheap flights. Our trip to Budapest last year was v inexpensive as I got the flights for 9.99 each on a Ryanair sale!
I'm a genius member of booking. Com & often get great deals through that on good accommodation.
We revisit places that we love (Venice multiple multiple times, Prague twice, Florence 4 times etc, Budapest twice etc) but we add in new ones all the time too.
We're currently planning a trip for next year & we're interested in either visiting Tallin & ferry to Finland or driving through Germany into Netherlands
I often worry that there isn't enough time or money to see all the places I want to experience.
I can't fathom going to places like Tenerife etc year after year as it holds no appeal for me at all, but i get that it's each to their own.
I am incredibly grateful that we've been able to bring our dc with us & allow them to experience so much of the world.
