I can’t stop looking at trips and getting excited about booking them. I already have a UK cottage booked for Easter and a European beach holiday for July but I am now obsessing over where to go after that. All our spare money goes into holidays (probably a bit silly - but then I’ve never regretted a single trip so maybe not) - I think it’s because both of us travelled a lot pre kids and now they’re older it feels feasible again. Anyone else spend a lot of time thinking about travel?!!

Me!!!! Got a long weekend in Washington DC coming up, England next month, California in June, and Malta in September. Have already been to Philadelphia for a weekend trip. I live in a very popular tourist destination in the US, but I love planning trips

Joyfulflowers · 22/03/2022 21:24

I'm always thinking about our next trip.
Just back from a hot lh holiday and have Europe planned for June and September.

Did Bath in February with a friend a & hope to plan another couple of nights with her at some point.

We didn't get overseas for the last 2 years but did manage Brighton, Cornwall, Scotland and The Cotswolds so can't complain.

Like a previous poster, mortgage paid off and dc's adults.

I have found my people! I live for my holidays, life is too short so trying to fit in as much as possible when I can. We had Barcelona last month, Blackpool next month, London in May, Majorca June, Ireland July and Italy in September. Just wish I had a bigger budget, all our money goes on holidays. Like others, some is Premier, some nice hotels, just anything really. Love the planning, love the travelling, hate the cost 😃

GrannieD · 22/03/2022 21:32

Me ...currently in fueteventura using up annual leave. Also was in lanzarote in January and had 3 camping trips so far this year. Lifes too short !

uggmum · 22/03/2022 21:37

Yep. I'm in Jamaica at the moment. Rome in 2 weeks. Dubai in June and Croatia on sept.

I would keep on booking!!

DJSteves · 22/03/2022 21:48

I went to see husband in Saudi in Feb. Have booked Barcelona with DS in July. And will then go back to the Middle East for a holiday in the summer. Thinking of Sri Lanka. Got a couple of Hen do's away too. So happy things are opening up. Love having stuff in the diary.

Swedenandnorway · 22/03/2022 22:25

Love holidays but eh

PAFMO · 23/03/2022 06:04

@goodnightgrumble

How the hell do you afford all these holidays? Does booking early make a difference? am an addict and save a few hundred each month for holidays but couldn't afford all these! I have been to a lodge in North Yorkshire, got South of France in a gite in June and probably Cornwall in August camping!
Book flights early. Book everything separate, research hotels (it's not always true that booking direct with the hotel will be cheaper- I booked 4 nights in Salamanca, Spain for the end of August and the hotel website gave me £350 (it's 4 star with breakfast included) but Expedia gave me £247 with member discount. I couldn't get 4 nights in the UK at a similar level for that. The flights were about £30.

I like to do multi-city trips so sit and work out if it's cheaper to do Copenhagen -Berlin-Vienna for 3 nights each or Vienna-Berlin-Copenhagen etc.

If you need train travel within a country sign up to their app etc and you'll get discounts. Trenitalia for Italy for example almost always has 30% offers from the app.

I think you have to decide your criteria as well. I'll go cheap as chips for a flight but want no less than a 3* hotel and with breakfast included. I'm a member of all the big chain hotel apps (Holiday Inn, NH, Radisson, Best Western etc) I tend to go straight for them for a city.

Booking early makes a difference with flights, definitely. Not so much hotels. Since Covid I always pay that little bit extra for the "can be cancelled with full refund up to 24 hours before" and "pay nothing now, pay at hotel" option if it's there.

Can't wait to retire, maybe make my choices easier. School holidays are ridiculous for any bargains.

jessy100 · 23/03/2022 09:21

Great threadGrinI love holidays. So glad a!l the restrictions are finally being lifted. Not long back from Budapest. Next up is Dublin at easter. Have Greece Spain and Poland as well.

Yep school holiday prices are ridiculous! We are not tied to them thanfully. Manage to get some great deals.
ivykaty44 · 23/03/2022 09:24

I love going away, before covid I had 16 holidays in 2 years. 3 to USA in 2019

I haven’t flown since, but looking at going away for 2 months later this year and a cycling holiday in May. Easter a cottage in this country and same for a week in June

Lovinglife45 · 23/03/2022 09:37

There are no deals to be had during the school holidays. Whenever I think I have found a deal, I realise baggage and transfers need to be added. Even four night breaks in Europe are coming in at £2300.

SpringLobelia · 23/03/2022 09:42

Me me me!!

The past 2 years we have been very cautious and i am hoping to build my confidence about travelling up this year.

I was hooing to book atrip to Edinburgh for the coming term holidays but have just realised it may not work as we have various medical appointments.

but we are hoping to take the Dcs for their first visit to Paris. Then we want to go to Cyprus at the end of the year and we possibly might consider Australia for Christmas but this may be a bit too much for budget concerns and also what covid does. I don't want to run the risk of Australia shutting their borders again!

Billionneeded · 23/03/2022 14:09

Obsessed with travel. Loads of backpacking usually. Planning Everest Base Camp trek for a big birthday in a couple of years, so excited! Anyone done it on here or is it a bit far left of field?

itsnevertolate · 23/03/2022 16:29

Finally, I've found my people! I love love love holidays. Off to France next week, and have Spain booked for Easter. Currently, trying to decide where to go next. We've been to Jamaica, Florida, Spain, Cyprus and France over the past few years (pre covid). When we had our youngest we applied for her passport the day we brought her home from hospital, and we where off as soon as it came through! We currently have some credit with tui so we are trying to pick our next destination. Anyone have any suggestions on a decent all inclusive for about £4000 for 2 adult and 2 children?

I have a mixture of UK trips and trips abroad. I too am a holiday addict! I’ve already had two international long haul trips this year.
