We went last year with toddler for cheap break with very low expectations and ended up loving it so much we are going back in May. We stayed in Playa Blanca last time, didn't overly rate our hotel but loved the beach and the area. Looking to book one of the many H10's we saw dotted around there this time.

Trying to pick between the one in PB or whether we should try something new and stay in Costa Teguise this time? Anyone been both and have a preference?

Not been to Costa Teguise but love Playa Blanca and planning to go back this summer!

SirSamVimesCityWatch · 15/03/2022 12:02

I'm off to the H10 in Costa Teguise later this year! We used to go to Costa Teguise when I was a kid but not been in 30years. Hoping we like it! The hotel reviews are good.

Yebbie · 15/03/2022 12:43

Loved PB!

The H10's all looked really nice. We stayed at a TUI Blue and the location was lovely but the hotel was meh and the food and drinks were bad. Excited to try a H10 this time!

We started at the H10 Rubicon Palace in PB with kids and loved it, so much so we went back again and loved it the second time too! Haven’t been to Costa Teguise though so can’t compare I’m afraid.

Stroppypeople · 15/03/2022 17:37

Playa Blanca definitely a lot nicer than costa teguise.

SingingSands · 15/03/2022 17:45

We're heading to PB in 3 weeks with our teens. It's perfect for a chilled holiday and DH can do loads of cycling.

We stay at either Las Casitas or Las Brisas resorts, in self catering villas. They're really lovely, family friendly and I prefer them to the big hotels.

nattergal · 15/03/2022 17:52

Costa Teguise is great, we've been several times and much prefer it to PB. We stayed in the H10 Suites Lanzarote Gardens in 2019 with our one year old and it's absolutely brilliant for kids. Highly recommend. CT has some lovely beaches and some fantastic restaurants. A lively market square that has lots of bars and usually live entertainment at night. Close to Arrecife for the airport, not far for excursions for eg Timanfaya or Manrique stuff. I can't wait to go back

That's where we're going, so excited! Glad to see you liked it.

I'm in Costa Teguise right now and love it. In an adults only resort but the surrounding resorts look lovely. Lots to do, cheap and lovely people.

nattergal · 15/03/2022 18:21

@SirSamVimesCityWatch I highly recommend Antiu Xixona ice cream parlour-absolutely amazing ice creams! Our favourite restaurants are La Tabla for the best tapas and La Bohemia for incredible steak. Also love hanging out at The Dolphin for a cheesy pub quiz. Assuming they've all survived Covid that is! Enjoy!

SirSamVimesCityWatch · 15/03/2022 18:24

This thread is making me happy Grin can't wait for my holiday, not been abroad in ages!

Libertynan · 15/03/2022 18:29

I would definitely choose playa Blanca over costa teguise.

Last time I went on Feb 2020 I stayed at the H20 lanzarote princess. Would stay there again . There were children there but can’t comment on the facilities for kids. It’s in a good location though very near to the beaches h and the centre of the resorts

Gowithme · 15/03/2022 18:40

Playa Flamingo is far nicer than Playa Blanca IMO, much less tacky - but is walking distance away if you want to go to the shops, restaurants etc. We stayed at the Tui blue there and were very surprised at how much we liked it as we had very low expectations. Their restaurant was very nice too and right by the beach. We didn't go to Costa Teguise as it is supposed to be quite windy and I hate wind.

RampantIvy · 15/03/2022 20:31

Oh, I didn't like Costa Teguise at all. It was described in a travel book as totally devoid of any character, and I agree. It doesn't have a harbour or a proper centre, and most of the bars sold English beer and showed English football on TV.

That said, I really like Lanzarote. It is an interesting island with lots to see and do. We first went in 1988 and stayed in the old town part of Puerto del Carmen and much preferred PDC to Costa Teguise. There was a better choice of restaurants and the food was better.

I expect it has changed a lot since 1988 though.

We love Playa Blanca and would highly recommend Princessa Yazia, it's in a perfect location and has lots going on for kids. Las Casitas is also lovely for self catering 😀 but not as much going on for kids there.

parabalabalabala · 15/03/2022 21:34

We've stayed at the Tui Flamingo Beach a few times and really like it. The beach is beautiful and very sheltered.
On our first trip to Lanzarote we stayed at Las Brisas, mentioned above. Really liked it, but I now appreciate the ease of an all inclusive, plus I like being right on the beach rather than a few streets back.

BookkeeperBobby · 15/03/2022 21:43

Costa teguise is a bit shabby but it has a couple of very nice small beaches that are quite particular. One where there's a kind of rocky lagoon which is just brilliant with little kids because it's so safe and kind of enclosed and another that is more open and has sunbeds but is still very quiet. There's also a couple of restaurants owned by genuinely interesting people eg La Tunera owned by a Lebanese guy who is full of chat and stories. It's also really easy to get around to different places. So yeah it doesn't look like much when you first see it but it's got a fascinating island folks heart to it and I am very fond of it. We always go self catering though so can't advise on hotels.

RampantIvy · 15/03/2022 21:46

The best meal we had was at a Lebanese restaurant. We didn't discover it until the last night.

The little sheltered beach is lovely.

Sparkletastic · 15/03/2022 21:50

Absolutely love Playa Blanca.

DartmoorChef · 16/03/2022 13:38

Love lanzarote. First went in 2001 and have been back every year since apart from last year for obvious reasons.

Have stayed all over the island but my favourite part is matagorda just on the edge of Puerto del Carmen.

Lots of great little bars and restaurants, no traffic on the promenade and a nice easy flat walk for miles in both directions.

Fantastic watching the planes land as you walk along the beach.

Playa blanc is lovely too. My least favourite resort is Costa teguise but only because its very windy there. The small back beach is great though especially for kids to have a go at snorkeling in calm shallow water.

randomjo · 16/03/2022 14:02

Stayed at the H10 in Costa Teguise, liked the hotel but really disliked Costa Teguise. Prefer Puerto del Carmen and will try playa blanca if we ever go back.

Roselilly36 · 16/03/2022 14:40

We have been to them all, much prefer Puerto del Carmen, so convenient, 10mins or so from the airport, Lidl for shopping, Biosphere shopping centre etc. Loads of restaurants. I find it cheaper than PB & CT.

mrstea301 · 16/03/2022 17:30

We're just back, stayed in puerto del carmen and really liked it! Would definitely go back! Although the sun is deceptive because of the wind!

Hedonism · 16/03/2022 17:36

Love Playa Blanca! We haven't been for years, it's good to hear that it is still lovely.

shouldhestay · 16/03/2022 17:45

Watching with interest as I'd love to go there
