Hey,

We recently came back from a holiday.. when we booked it the country was green, the night before we were due to fly it turned amber, as we couldn’t get hold of anyone to change our holiday we still went.. we’ve just got back and the day one of getting home both my husband an I had phone calls to check we were isolating and we also had a knock on the door! Just wondering if anyone else has come back from an amber and how often they check up on you?! We’re sticking to the rules but just wondered out of curiosity.

They came back from Canaries

Hoppinggreen · 23/07/2021 21:37

Daily phone calls to both me and DH but no visits

I know someone who had their door knocked at 10pm on day 9. They had previously had a 7am knock. They were in and had been properly isolating.

Nootkah · 24/07/2021 18:17

But people dont need to isolate any more if theyre fully vaccinated? Are they still doing this?

Nootkah · 24/07/2021 20:02

@EMB12 I'm assuming that either you're not doubly vaccinated or you came home before the rules changed on 19th? Because if you're fully vaccinated and it's after 19th, there's no requirement to isolate so no need to be contacted?

EMB12 · 24/07/2021 23:31

Yes, I’m only half vaccinated and we arrived home on the 22nd so just missed out 😭 the bit I find crazy is that our children don’t have to isolate but my husband and I do

So far we’ve had a phone call each every day and a knock on the door on day one

How do they get your phone number? I’d be inclined to block the number they call from tbh. I definitely wouldn’t be answering the door to them either.

FizzyPink · 24/07/2021 23:38

What exactly do they do if you don’t answer the door? You could be isolating but on a work call so not available to answer. Surely that’s not proof that you’re not at home?!

EMB12 · 25/07/2021 00:43

They get all your details through the passenger locator forms that you have to do at the airport. I have no idea what happens if you don’t answer the door 🤷🏻‍♀️ To be honest I was shocked that they actually knocked.

Someone at the door on the first day at 9 am, plus daily phone calls.

Theredjellybean · 25/07/2021 20:06

Calls everyday but I have only answered two out of ten due to work.

xksismybestletter · 25/07/2021 20:15

Who is coming? Some NHS contractor? Id be surprised if it's the police

Northernsoullover · 25/07/2021 20:24

If you don't answer the door the police can get involved.

Environmental Health professionals and the police.
Peregrina · 25/07/2021 21:22

The person who came to our door had an NHS logo on his jacket - but I don't think that they were really NHS - just casual staff taken on.

Marshmon · 27/07/2021 20:34

Children don’t have to isolate? Is this a thing?

DefinitelyNotAHastyNameChange · 27/07/2021 20:40

I didn’t have any contact from anyone and no one even checked my Covid test result after landing. DP got one call on day 2, when he was walking to the postbox to post his test - he said he was out, they said it was fine and no one contacted him again afterwards.

My boss on the other hand had a knock on the door 12 hours after landing and was called everyday at different times, sometimes landline, sometimes mobile. It seems really randomly enforced.

I'm not sure if it's still the case now but in the recent past if you didn't answer your phone to them then you'll have the police turning up on your doorstep.

(not me but pupils returning to boarding school that didn't answer their phones as they didn't recognise the number calling. Police turned up and checked they were there and isolating correctly)

MimosaFields · 27/07/2021 20:47

They call every single day. I've come back from amber countries twice in the last few months and they don't miss a day!

MayorGundersonsDogRufus · 27/07/2021 20:59

Yes, I've arrived in the UK from an amber country and I've had five calls from NHS attack and trace, and someone turned up at the door to check on my husband.

MayorGundersonsDogRufus · 27/07/2021 20:59

*track and trace Grin

HairyButtMonkey · 27/07/2021 21:00

I had nothing just a couple of standard texts reminding me to take my day 2 and day 8 test. I wonder if it was to do with me landing in London and then transfering to a Scottish airport...

In the daily phone calls both me and DH got from the Quarantine people AND the Isolation people (someone on the plane tested positive so we were Quarantining and isolating but it’s 2 systems so you get double calls) they didn’t ask about the DC once
