Due to holiday on Greek Island in 2 weeks. Really anxiety inducing, anyone in the area boat or can offer reassurance?

Brilliant thank you!

rufus77 · 13/08/2021 10:39

So randomly my lateral flows are still positive in the mornings and then more or less negative at night. I'm really worried now :( Im on day 12 now, (from symptoms) 10 days of positive lateral flow tests. We are supposed to fly Monday night.... cant quite believe this!

Postbox123 · 13/08/2021 10:56

Ours arrived yesterday for a Sunday flight

AvonCallingBarksdale · 13/08/2021 10:57

Fingers crossed for you @rufus77. I’m resigned to our holiday having been cancelled now Sad Quarantining in Greece would have been shite as well as feeling rubbish on holiday. Not to mention risking others’ health. Doesn’t stop it from being massively disappointing though. I really hope you get there 🤞🏻

ArabellaPilkington · 13/08/2021 11:18

I've just bought NWP tests for Day 2 - we arrive back Sunday. £40pp. All you need is a booking ref no for the PLF. Which you get as soon as you pay for it.

rufus77 · 13/08/2021 11:24

@ArabellaPilkington I cant believe they have come down to £40!! I literally bought 4 of them on Sunday and they were £65 each... gutted! Especially if we cant even go!

Brilliant that they are reducing the prices though as its just crazy the additional costs.

ArabellaPilkington · 13/08/2021 11:37

Fucks sake @rufus77 how's your luck?

Keep the faith re your testing. Hold your nerve. Everything crossed for you.

I was waiting for the gvmt review into it but that'll be a month so just bit the bullet - aware I left it late but some ppl do it at the airport on the way back!!

mrsanflowerpot · 13/08/2021 15:36

Just an update from me, we arrived in Rhodes on Wednesday and - other than chronomics tests only arriving Monday lunch - it was super smooth. The flight was full but both airports pretty empty, they're pretty strict here re: masks etc., but everything has been great so far and it is so lovely to be away. Fingers crossed for everyone

Delatron · 13/08/2021 15:42

Thanks for the update @mrsanflowerpot are they testing much on arrival in the airport?

I’m trying to relax now (we’re off to Crete tomorrow) have a negative test for DS so we’re over that hurdle.

mrsanflowerpot · 13/08/2021 15:50

None of us were tested, but we took the decision to do all four of us on LFTs even though DH and I are double jabbed. Mainly as we were obviously testing before flying anyway to keep everyone safe, but partly so we could show them at the airport and hopefully not be tested there. That seemed to work as once they saw that and the vaccine passports we were waved through. I think every family had a member of the family tested on my flight, but we're at a holiday village and not everyone here had even that done on their flights. The people here - from airport to everyone we've met - seem so happy to have tourists back that they are lovely about everything

Delatron · 13/08/2021 16:04

That’s good @mrsanflowerpot have a great holiday!

rufus77 · 13/08/2021 16:37

@mrsanflowerpot Have a fantastic holiday!

2 negative tests this afternoon. Everything crossed this is it.. im like a woman possessed constantly testing!

Delatron · 13/08/2021 16:42

That’s really good news @rufus77 I hope you get away!

becarefuloutthere · 13/08/2021 17:27

Does anyone know if the standard pcr and LTF tests from the nhs are ok? I got the below from the gov.uk website and there's no mention of paid tests...thanks! Flying to Santorini next Saturday hopefully!

Delatron · 13/08/2021 17:30

You need to use a government approved supplier who issue a fit to fly certificate. You can’t use the free NHS ones.

Delatron · 13/08/2021 17:31

It’s the ‘from an authorised laboratory’ part.

We used C:19 who were good and speedy.

becarefuloutthere · 13/08/2021 17:56

@Delatron ok thank you! Is this true for the pcr as well then as that doesn't say authorised laboratory?

Delatron · 13/08/2021 18:43

Yes for all tests you can’t use the free NHS service. You’ll need an approved supplier. It’s basically a money making racquet!!

Scottishskifun · 13/08/2021 18:47

Yes you will need a code of your booked return day 2 PCR test on the passenger locator form to even get on the plane home or risk a big fine.

BlackLambAndGreyFalcon · 13/08/2021 19:07

Flew into Chania this morning. There was a covid-19 testing corner set up in baggage reclaim, but no one from our flight (or from any other flight) as far as I could see was required to test on arrival.

becarefuloutthere · 13/08/2021 20:55

Thank you both! @Scottishskifun and @Delatron I'll get ordering that one you sent then.

Delatron · 13/08/2021 21:01

@BlackLambAndGreyFalcon that’s good news about the testing on arrival. That’s the final hurdle to get through.!

ArabellaPilkington · 14/08/2021 04:43

It feels like dodging bullets:

  • testing negative for fit to fly
  • not sitting next to any coughers on the plane
  • not being unlucky at random testing on landing
  • not catching it whilst on holiday
  • negative on LFT before return
  • negative on PCR on day 2

At least isolation for return plane in UK ends on Monday!

Carrotcakeforbreakfast · 14/08/2021 09:02

Did anyone who has been to Greece and returned back have a visit from test and trace?

We arrived back Friday evening and yesterday morning had a knock at the door and it was T&T.
Not that I mind as we were all obviously in
( I'm double jabbed so they weren't interested in me)
But I had to go and drag eldest dd out of bed who was not impressed Grin and parade her in her pjs on the drive.
Also if you have anyone is having to self isolate make sure you keep your passports handy.
As my DH had put the suitcases and hand luggage bags in the loft with passports still in and he had to go into the loft to get them back out.

They said we will be back today or tomorrow.

morbidhamster · 14/08/2021 09:16

All negative LFT tests this morning. Fingers crossed this is actually happening. Although as @ArabellaPilkington says, more bullets to dodge yet.
Also, I have a bit of a hay fever cough ... really hope I don't alarm anyone on the plane!!
Maybe I should wear a sign saying I have this cough every summer and have done for years'
