Where can I find an EXPERIENCED travel nanny to fly London - Sydney - London?????????????????

I'd rather not pay a recruitment agents fee, I've searched google, and still nothing......

I need an experience nanny who has the experience of entertaining my 2 year old son for the flight from London to Hong Kong (stay over night) then Hong Kong to Sydney - stay in Sydney for a month then back again. I'm a nervous wreck! I'll be on the flight too but can't stand the thought of my son not being happy or being able to run around.

I'll of course pay for the nanny's flight etc, does anyone know where I can find someone with experience without paying a recruitment fee?????

Thanks

I would do that and bob into economy every now and again in my pristine white trousers and say oooooh how are my little pumkins and be a yummy mummy

then swiftly go back to first class

lionheart · 25/09/2007 10:35

You'd be doing them a favour, OO, because they would have the chance to rub shoulders with the lower echelons of society. That's not something money can buy.

LieselVentouse · 25/09/2007 10:36

worse still - get so rat-arsed in First Class that you are unable to look after children

NorthernRockCod · 25/09/2007 10:36

and ill come up into first calss do a curry fart and run

WideWebWitch · 25/09/2007 10:36

lol lionheart
Oh where's that thread gone, that was a mumsnet classic, it was "help, I think my son touched a working class boy today" or something, ff started it.

NorthernRockCod · 25/09/2007 10:36

then be charged with drunk in charge of a minor

StarryStarryNight · 25/09/2007 10:37

We dont know why she needs help on the flight. Or at least, I dont know the OP, so I dont know why.

Putting myself out on a limb here, in case it really is a wind up, in which case I say "SHOO on you for making me relive this"

When my youngest was born I had SPD (and could barely walk for the first six months), I also had PND and missed my parents terribly. My husband realized I could not cope, not emotionally, and not from the day to day care perspective of our children, and hired somebody for the summer as full time mothers help/childcare. If I were to go see my parents, I would need her on the flights (transfer, luggage out and through customs, recheck in), I could not even lift my bags onto the conveyor belt. So I paid her flight and salary the two weeks we were away, she stayed at my parents and continued to help with the children there.

Taunt me all you like, call me a stuck up middle class bitch for doing this, I just wanted my mum.

LieselVentouse · 25/09/2007 10:37

ive gone and woken the baby laughing so much a wickedwaterwitch

lionheart · 25/09/2007 10:42

I can see there might be lots of reasons for wanting to do this aside from toddlerphobia.

lionheart · 25/09/2007 10:42

I bet the air con in first class is set for such eventualities, cod.

NorthernRockCod · 25/09/2007 10:42

Maybe she's afear'd of flying.

NorthernRockCod · 25/09/2007 10:44

nurseryjo
do you hate the mum at the same time?

WideWebWitch · 25/09/2007 10:44

I'd rather stick pins in my eyes than do a 12 hour flight with a 2yo.

Can totally see why the OP wouldn't want to do it

lionheart · 25/09/2007 10:45

See, your two year old doesn't have to answer to the name of Chucky for this to make sense.

WideWebWitch · 25/09/2007 10:48

NorthernRockCod · 25/09/2007 10:48

oh god dont be so reaosnable

judge judge

lionheart · 25/09/2007 10:49

See, see. It's not so outlandish. She needs you NurseyJo.

StarryStarryNight · 25/09/2007 10:49

Why is this necessary?

OP asked a legitimate question. She may already feel guilty and inadequate for not being able to handle the flights with her toddler! It is a long flight!

I have friends from NZ, they really dont like to do this flight on their own with the kids without their husbands. (Though another friend of mine was perfectly happy to fly Cairns-Bangkok-London-Copenhagen-Oslo-AirportinNorthNorway and then boat to her final destination alone with a two year old) Peoples ability to copep is different.

mumblechum · 25/09/2007 10:49

Personally I think all under 6s should be banned from all flights.

They're a pain in the arse.

Judge away.

NorthernRockCod · 25/09/2007 10:50

agree
yes no kids toi leave a country ever.
