Where can I find an EXPERIENCED travel nanny to fly London - Sydney - London?????????????????

I'd rather not pay a recruitment agents fee, I've searched google, and still nothing......

I need an experience nanny who has the experience of entertaining my 2 year old son for the flight from London to Hong Kong (stay over night) then Hong Kong to Sydney - stay in Sydney for a month then back again. I'm a nervous wreck! I'll be on the flight too but can't stand the thought of my son not being happy or being able to run around.

I'll of course pay for the nanny's flight etc, does anyone know where I can find someone with experience without paying a recruitment fee?????

Thanks

Bloody good on you Georgia ...
Honestly, don't pay any attention to these jealous old bags! Have a fab time in Sydney!
If you find yourself in Melbourne drop me a line and we can have coffee

sorry to crash on here but to melbourne mum , hows the little treasure now???

eleusis · 28/09/2007 10:23

Great news, Georgia. Soo... tell us, where did you find this fab nanny? The rest of us might need to know one day.

MelbourneMum · 28/09/2007 10:33

oooohhh Aunty Strawberry you read my mind, I was thinking only today of putting an update up. NeveBean is heaven. Six months old now!! and my darling darling db (bless his heart) called last night to say 'she really is doing so much more than any of the other babies in mumsgroup, we think she might be a bit advanced for a her age' My heart just swelled with joy at his pride and I hid my happy giggles. She IS crawling at six months though which I think IS actually pretty early (given both my ds's were at least 12 months old!!) AND my two sisters and I are to be the Godmother's. More happy tears with that phonecall!
So its just all joy.
We are coming over in June, any chance of meeting up you gorgeous Aunty you.
Will now go off and see if I can find the original thread to update.
Hijack over, sorry Georgiaplus1 (glad you found great nanny)!

Georgiaplus1 · 28/09/2007 10:53

www.gumtree.co.uk is where i found the nanny - I posted an advert (20 quid) and the cvs came flooding in - lots of crap but a few little gems! It's a win win situation for her and us!

ooh she IS very advanced, well shes bound to be, dont you giggle at him..meany..it would be lovely to meet up with you, although i am in teesside so not much nice sight seeing to do here

on a serious note, that does seem early for crawling and its soooo lovely to hear them being so gushinly proud and of course we always have to compare ours to other children at playgroups..its the law and OMG 6 months!, how has all that time gone!, i bet she has changed so much nowxxx

sorry to butt in OP

Great news Georgia! Have a great flight!

Pennies · 28/09/2007 11:27

Great news G+1. I will keep this thread should I ever need similar assistance. Sorry you got such a flaming on here. Hardly much of a welcome .

welliemum · 28/09/2007 11:29

Great news, Georgia!

Am LOL at the competitive suffering on this thread though - mine included

AitchTwoOh · 28/09/2007 11:32

what fun, i'd have leapt at the chance if i was still nannying...
enjoy the holiday, Sydney is WONDERFUL!

DCsnatchsunhill · 28/09/2007 11:53

Yes, Sydney is awesome, wish I was there.
If you ever find yourself coming to Melbourne, then I'm sure there's a few mumsnetters that would like to do coffee.
Love it here in Melbourne, but would rather be in Sydney. Have a brill time.

Gizmo · 28/09/2007 12:30

Damn nasty thread - lowest point I've seen on mumsnet in five years of intensive lurking.

Georgia, I'm very pleased you got yourself sorted.

StarryStarryNight · 28/09/2007 12:32

Good news Georgea, good luck with the nanny, and enjoy your trip!

Blu · 28/09/2007 12:38

Sounds brilliant, Georgia - in fact, what a great idea - for people to use air miles to offer to other needy but useful travellers when they could do with a bit of a helping hand.

arfishy · 28/09/2007 12:57

Georgia - glad it had a good outcome!! Have a fantastic flight.

There are a few of us in Sydney if you want a coffee. I can rustle up a few 2 year olds for playdates.

We've also got our longhaul badges, so no recriminations here.

When are you coming? The weather's just picked up this week and we're back in the 80s.

legalalien · 28/09/2007 13:08

Georgia - let me know what flight you're on and I'll sign up DS for the in-flight "entertainment"

dejags · 28/09/2007 13:34

Georgia - enjoy sydney!

Ghosty - look me up on facebook. I need some connections in Aus before we move in Dec/Jan (s t e l l a d e j a g e r)

AitchTwoOh · 28/09/2007 14:04

and kokeshi's going too...

welshmum · 28/09/2007 14:08

Have a great time Georgia - glad it worked out so well for you

VeniVidiVickiQV · 28/09/2007 21:54

Bloody hell....

I couldnt think of anything worse than taking my two year old DS on a 12+ hour flight right now - I can barely get him in his car seat and staying there atm.....

Mind you, last flight we did (only 2 hours), at the end he got all charming and walked up the aisle touching all the women and making them turn around so he could say hello.......

If only he were like that for more than 5 minutes.
