Where can I find an EXPERIENCED travel nanny to fly London - Sydney - London?????????????????

I'd rather not pay a recruitment agents fee, I've searched google, and still nothing......

I need an experience nanny who has the experience of entertaining my 2 year old son for the flight from London to Hong Kong (stay over night) then Hong Kong to Sydney - stay in Sydney for a month then back again. I'm a nervous wreck! I'll be on the flight too but can't stand the thought of my son not being happy or being able to run around.

I'll of course pay for the nanny's flight etc, does anyone know where I can find someone with experience without paying a recruitment fee?????

Thanks

maybe she is trying to justify it the overall cost by cutting out the fee. Like I do when I buy a dress and get a discount

ggglimpopo · 25/09/2007 10:09

Yes you can take kids in first class but if she handed him to a stewardess on boarding, it would mean he would not necessarily be in first class.

littlemissbossy · 25/09/2007 10:10

PMSL at this thread... how the other half live eh??
I know, why don't you book him on a different flight then you wouldn't be inconvenienced at all?

ladymuck · 25/09/2007 10:11

Depends on the carrier. You can't if the first class cabin is upstairs (I think no under 6s are allowed)

lionheart · 25/09/2007 10:12

But if you get a uk based nanny, maybe an Australian, you could offer them the flights and then

not need to pay them during their stay. It would be a good deal for someone, wouldn't it?

It might be seen to be a good deal for someone who didn't need to work for a month. Whether they would necessarily be on the return flight though is a risk that the OP would have to take.

lionheart · 25/09/2007 10:14

I didn't know that about first class.

NorthernRockCod · 25/09/2007 10:15

FARKIGN NORA
YOU IDLE *

ladymuck · 25/09/2007 10:17

The no kids upstairs rule applies to business class as well - one of the reasons why the upper deck is fought over by business travellers.

NorthernRockCod · 25/09/2007 10:17

there once was a woman called heorgia
who had to get over to orestraylia

she coudlnt be arsed to not go first clarse

so she payed ofr somwoen else to do it

LieselVentouse · 25/09/2007 10:18

why dont you just leave him at home

LieselVentouse · 25/09/2007 10:18

Cod none of that rhymes

poppynic · 25/09/2007 10:19

Oooohh, I'm unexpectedly unable to return home to NZ for financial reasons and would be happy to entertain your son on the flight if I could bring my 9 month old and 5 year old along too! Then I could go home for the month and rejoin you in Sydney for the return flight! perfect.

NorthernRockCod · 25/09/2007 10:19

i know
am crap

ggglimpopo · 25/09/2007 10:19

I had poncy parents and flew economy for the first time in my late teens. I never appreciated first class, now I bloody hanker after a vip traveller card and the private departure lounge and all the crap that I took for granted as a pampered (probably utterly vile) child.

Where has the op gone?

NorthernRockCod · 25/09/2007 10:19

yep

vile

lionheart · 25/09/2007 10:20

Could be she took fright?

LieselVentouse · 25/09/2007 10:20

shes re-acquanting herself with her children

WideWebWitch · 25/09/2007 10:22

lol at the indignation on this thread.
The idea of a 2yo on that length flight horrifies me so much I just wouldn't ever have done it. I don't really blame the OP for wanting help but agree, the agent fee seems the lowest part of the cost, OP should pay it.

Luckily mine are older now and I don't need to go to Australia.

But anyway, Gumtree, bet you can find a lovely Aussie nanny who'd jump at this.

ladymuck · 25/09/2007 10:25

Oh yes, definitely get an Oz nanny from Gumtree - they won't be fazed by the flight at all. And their attitude tends to be a tad more positive ime.

NorthernRockCod · 25/09/2007 10:29

and we are horrible

and RIGHT

malfoy · 25/09/2007 10:30

I knew a couple who flew to Mauritius first class with the nanny & children in economy.

NorthernRockCod · 25/09/2007 10:31

lol
and they SO wanted kids
