Easyjet flights disappeared from schedule

Hi there
Can someone advise if I should be worried about my easyjet flights to Pisa in August disappearing from the schedule? Easyjet haven't contacted me to let me know that the flights will be cancelled. It looks like they've reduced the schedule to one flight on Saturdays and one on Sundays. I'd be happy to change my flights (which are currently booked for Friday and Monday) but without easyjet telling me that I can be moved to another flight, I would have to pay a significant fare increase if I changed now? What do I do? I can't get through on the phone.

@Cannotcope4223 I hope the OP doesn't mind a small derailment. My villa in Portugal is on the Silver Coast and this is what the owner tells me about life there (although she's talking about a private villa with private pool, so hopefully you can find some other info re: hotels etc)

Our life is quite normal.

Of course we go with the recommended hygiene recommendations (wash hands frequently) and keep some distance to people we don't know (also while standing in line at the cashier).
When we walk outside we do not wear masks and we are not required to wear them. When we meet with friends we also wear no masks, but we keep more distance than usual and don't hug and kiss.

Meanwhile the cafes and restaurants are open. Every shop/supermarket/bakery/cafe offer disinfectant when entering and the cafes and restaurants offer less tables than usual. When you enter a restaurant or go to the bathroom you have to wear a mask; when you sit at your table you can take off the mask. It's a bit inconvenient, but that's where it is probably everywhere in Europe this year...

On June 1st all shopping centers will open and all very big shops as well - like Ikea and other big furniture stores. All other shops, landmarks, museums and, businesses are already open.

In general I have to say that we have a very relaxed atmosphere here in our area. Meanwhile people are going to the beach to sunbath and swim and since the beach is very large (and we have many beaches around our area) it's never crowded and people can easily keep the needed distance. The weather is perfect since quite a while and we enjoy our swimming pool.

Right in the beginning, when the virus started to spread in Italy and France, the government had acted very fast and the people were very disciplined and sticked to the rules. Therefore Portugal did manage very well. We were very luck to be here because we had no single case and also in the close by villages were only very few infections.

The day before yesterday we went to Lisbon to meet with friends for dinner. We went earlier and made a stop at the Hieronymus monastery and the famous Pastel de Nata bakery (which is right in the neighborhood) and we didn't need to stay in line. That was soooooo amazing because typically the lines are endless. In the past we did several approaches to go there, but every time we skipped the plan because the lines were so long. So in this case the Pandemic showed off its good side - beside all the good side effects for the environment.

Thanks so much for the reply... that’s really reassured me. I think I may well book now and hope for the best! I was thinking of flying to Faro and staying in the Real Grande Santa Eulalia where I’ve stayed before in Albufeira for 3/4 nights...

Celeriacacaca · 04/06/2020 20:27

Thanks @mustbeduesomebetterfeet for the timetable tip. It seems our outbound flight on 19th July from Gatwick to Naples isn't happening but the return leg is on the 31st. They fly from Luton too so I guess I would switch the outbound flights to there on the same day, and have to cough up the £100 difference. Annoying but if the UK government changes the travel restriction then we are still intending to go.

MustBeDueSomeBetterFeet · 09/06/2020 12:53

I'm assuming no one on this thread whose flights were removed from the summer programme has heard anything yet?

@WhatWouldTheDoctorDo I think yours are end June - any emails or anything from them?

NotABeliever · 09/06/2020 13:11

Not a peep. Very annoying

I havent heard anything but mine are August.

No1HolidayPlanner · 09/06/2020 13:18

I have flights to Ireland 12 July and Greece end of July.. nothing yet from EasyJet

userxx · 09/06/2020 13:25

@Cannotcope4223 That hotel looks perfect for me and my friend!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 09/06/2020 13:51

@MustBeDueSomeBetterFeet Yep, end of June and no, not heard anything from easyJet yet.

MustBeDueSomeBetterFeet · 09/06/2020 14:02

We fly out 4th July, and it's our return on 14th that looks to have disappeared. I guess we will see what happens with FCO/air bridges/etc!

tootyfruitypickle · 09/06/2020 15:32

I had flights in May and they cancelled a week before. Applied for refund...

I have flight in August. Outgoing js still being sold, return says sold out. If my return is cancelled then presumably they’d have to refund outgoing also? I don’t want to rebook as the prices now are about a quarter of what I paid. Plus I cant make plans For next year yet. I’m certainly not going on the flights. Just working out what gamble to make 1) rebook for free 14 days before somewhere random for next year and poss move again and hope the fees aren’t brought back , or 2) leave it longer in hope of cancellation but risk paying rebooking fee if they’re not .
But if they cancel return they can’t expect us to go on outbound surely ? The only other flight that day is 9 hours earlier Hmm

NotABeliever · 09/06/2020 15:38

From what other posters have said, it sounds like if they cancel a flight and you rebook, you're liable for any fare difference. So if they cancel your return flight, you might have to dish out more to come back on another flight even on the same date.

All the remaining flights to my destination are VERY expensive around the July dates I originally booked. I wish they would just tell me so that I can book with BA and then apply for a refund with Easyjet.

OP posts:
tootyfruitypickle · 09/06/2020 15:49

According to the civil aviation authority, if your return flight is more than 2 hours outside your original flight time you get 250. Euros comp. I have two flights so thats 500. Total costs of entire booking was 400. So that d do me. I’m not going anywhere this summer but would like my money back !

tootyfruitypickle · 09/06/2020 15:51

The option I was looking at was cancelling my flights and rebooking for next year for free. But I object to that when they are selling flights for £30. And when they will most likely cancel my return so will pursue the comp/ refund. I won’t be booking with EasyJet again anyway - nightmare .

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 09/06/2020 16:14

I would happily have rebooked for next summer, but of course flight schedules not out yet. I would even have considered a short break at Easter but the flights were half the price of our original flights and they won't reimburse or give a voucher for the difference.

MustBeDueSomeBetterFeet · 09/06/2020 16:14

@tootyfruitypickle I found this the best bet for information on legalities of it: www.citizensadvice.org.uk/consumer/holiday-cancellations-and-compensation/if-your-flights-delayed-or-cancelled/

I am sure that if one leg of a return trip is cancelled, the entire trip is considered cancelled. However if you're only told 7 days before, and you've already travelling out there - how does that work?

On EU compensation, I had a feeling those rules had been suspended (in terms of compensation, not in terms of refunds for cancellations) due to Covid being an 'extraordinary' event - but happy to be corrected.

AnneKipanki · 09/06/2020 16:46

I have some flights booked towards the end of June . I have not heard anything yet .
It was to be returning in July .
Checked the EasyJet website and I can see there are no flights in June .

tootyfruitypickle · 09/06/2020 16:54

Think worst case scenario is I move flights a day or before and pay the fees (£100 odd total). Or just move before . I’m assuming all the seat booking etc is included so I’d be able to get the posh seats with leg room and priority boarding ! Take about 400 suitcases !!

Imnotcalledlola · 09/06/2020 17:00

My flights to palma are still on sale at about half the price I paid (and I thought I’d got a good deal at the time!)
Does anyone know when the latest you can change them is?

itsgettingweird · 09/06/2020 17:14

Interesting.

My Ryanair flight is showing from departing airport and arrival airport but not for the date I'm due to fly. It's got no midweek flights in august. Confused

itsgettingweird · 09/06/2020 17:15

Imnot I'm going to Palma too!

tootyfruitypickle · 09/06/2020 17:33

@Imnotcalledlola easyjet is allowing changes for free up to 14 days before or for the usual fees after that (about £30 a flight )

tootyfruitypickle · 09/06/2020 17:34

Which is why the 7 days b4 cancellation policy is out of order ! Ba all the way for me in future

MustBeDueSomeBetterFeet · 09/06/2020 18:01

I know they won't be releasing Summer 2021 flights until later this year, but if they released them earlier, I'd just transfer across to then. As it is, I feel I'm in a battle of wills, waiting to see who caves first.

That being said, I enquired of my insurance company when the FCO advice becomes applicable to my future travel. In response - instead of answering the question - they gave me a claim number and asked me to confirm closer to the time if my flights were cancelled or whether I was a 'no show'... I'm not sure therefore whether they are saying they WILL cover me if I decide now not to travel in four weeks, give today's advice...

I am thinking maybe package holidays are the way forward!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 09/06/2020 18:12

@MustBeDueSomeBetterFeet have you looked through the t & c's of your insurance holiday? Mine specifically said I could cancel if FCO advisory in place up to 28 days to departure.
