CARS THAT TAKE 3 CAR SEATS IN THE BACK?!

Currently we have a Rover 620, nice car, reliable etc. Doubt we can really afford to get a new car once baby is born either, but if needs must!

So, what cars take 3 car seats in the back?

I will have a 3yr old, 2yr old and a newborn.

HELP!

Citroen Berlingo - has sliding doors too - great for tight parking. Really liked it

vaxhall zafira does come out well in tests

bobsmum · 29/06/2007 18:04

I'm 5ft and managed the Berlingo with a cushion

We have Peugeot 307SW, it takes three child seats in the back, and we have 2 seats for the boot making it a seven seater... It is a lovely car. All the backseats can also lie flat down giving a HUGE boot. Also, we have been able to fit the following:
me and hubby, our two kids, and in the boot: 2 adult bikes, 1 child bike, and a baby trailer! Picnic equipment. Best car in the world!

Twiglett · 29/06/2007 18:07

the zafira is just taller but length and width wise seems fairly similar drive to a standard saloon

Ceolas · 29/06/2007 18:08

Be warned. Whist you can fit 3 seats in the back of a Zafira, it largely depends on the seats and it can be a huge squash/faff to fasten them all in!

It is based on the body of the Astra with a bit extra in the back.

liking the berlingo the best - looks the least "tank" like!

Dad is bringing over the baby car seat tonight to see if it fits with the other 2 car seats in the car we have, but im not holding my breath, it looks like a bit of a squeeze.

Now I just need to find £3k to purchase a second hand one!

picasso was recommended by Honest John for someone looking to fit 3 seats in.

What about that Skoda Roomster?

We have a zafira and fit 3 seats in but it is a squeeze. We were going to get a picasso as we've had one before and that would definitely fit them in a breeze but settled on a zafira as it came out better in road tests and you have an extra 2 seats in the boot that fold completely flat.

newlifenewname · 29/06/2007 18:45

Let me tell you this:

I had a tidgy peugeot 306 hatchback and fitted three seats in the back - it was a bit of a squeeze but entirely do-able.

This week I became the owner of a very large Passat estate. I am REALLY struggling to strap the seats in. They fit across the back but doing up the belts is nearly impossible due to positioning of belt stays.

bobsmum · 29/06/2007 20:06

I will fight the Berlingo's corner

Fold the seats down and it is indeed a van - quite the best thing on the planet for taking to IKEA!

It has taken a washer and drier quite comfortably too.

We got ours at auction for £2K - was ex council and in great condition - 2002 and a diesel!!

Ours only had a lap belt in the middle, but it is definitely a full size seat. I think Halfords or equivalent would fit a three point seatbelt.

And the sliding doors....soooo clever

we've got the normal Megane Scenic (the old one, not the new one) and i've fit a Maxi Cosi, M&P and Recarro seat in the back, along with 2 strollers and a Quinny Buzz in the boot. it also has loads of cool little compartments and 2 sunroofs (for those occasions when you have 2 suns, i suppose!) also, not like driving a van.

newlifenewname · 29/06/2007 20:10

recaros are supposed to be dead narrow aren't they? considering getting one if so.

Oh definitely, fio - we used to have an 8-seater (one of these ugly old buggers) when DS2 was a babe and we used to put 2 in each row as a rule, with a space in between them

It made long journeys quite tolerable.

I have a Seat Alhambra which is totally fab, I can easily fit 3 car seats of varying sizes in the back & then also have the option of having 2 extra seats in the back & Still be able to have some boot space!!

WendyWeber · 29/06/2007 21:09

(True, RR, but then you can't reach them to slap either, can you?)

(Did I really say that out loud? )
