CARS THAT TAKE 3 CAR SEATS IN THE BACK?!

Currently we have a Rover 620, nice car, reliable etc. Doubt we can really afford to get a new car once baby is born either, but if needs must!

So, what cars take 3 car seats in the back?

I will have a 3yr old, 2yr old and a newborn.

HELP!

Ooooooh just what I need. I would really like three sets of isofix things, does this really mean we need a bus? Shite. Was quite happy with our lovely golf. Jinxed, I like your "who exactly made me get pg again" comment. Who indeed got ME pregnant? With TWINS. Bugger. I can't park to save my life, and in a few months I will be trying to park a BUS.

Recarro seats are indeed quite narrow. Maxi Cosi are as well, i think. Mamma & Pappa one decidedly not.

WendyWeber · 29/06/2007 21:17

Oh yes, embarrassment is good psychological weapon

So is stationary-ness (???) I used to find

Egg · 29/06/2007 21:17

I will be having two Maxi Cosi Cabriofix and one Maxi Cosi Priorifix. So are they quite narrow compared to some then? Definitely looks like my lovely lie-flat Jane Matrix will be out of the question... Gah.

a scenic will manage this fine plus good boot space.

got a grand scenic - DTs in their Britax seats (they are 2.5) and DD in Mamas and Papas baby seat all fit in the back. She will need to go into next size in a couple of months so am crossing fingers that another seat fits!!

sweetkitty · 29/06/2007 21:30

hi jinxed I asked the same thing this afternoon, I will also have a 3yo, 2yo and a newborn, currently have a Clio and am dreading changing to a Mumbus!

jinxed · 29/06/2007 22:11

Oh my word - im really dreading this!

November seems like an age away til DC3 is here, but all these practical issues are worrying me!

The thought of going back to a double buggy for a few months is scaring me senseless too!

ARGHHHHHHHHH

I want to keep my NORMAL sized car! I dont want a mumbus! But think its going to have to be, although the Berlingo is looking like my SMALL mumbus option!

7 seats scares me - means I have 2 extra seats to fill, which DH would LOVE to see as 2 extra kids - well he knows my views on that one! This is DEFINATELY the last!

We have a Honda FR-V.

V. good.

Ceolas · 29/06/2007 22:54

I think a Fiat Multipla would too. Width is the key!

fillyjonk · 30/06/2007 09:45

multiplas do worryingly badly on the NCAP trials

here

lapsedrunner · 30/06/2007 18:28

A Volvo V70 will take 3 seats but it is a bit of a squash. I have done it a few times with friends but not sure I'd want to strap 3 of my own DCs in each day (it is a bit of a fight to get everything done up).

Not a Laguna, I can tell you that!

The Ford S-Max is gorgeous and comes highly recommended. I'm hankering after one.

SoupDragon · 01/07/2007 16:09

The S-Max has 3 individual seats in the centre row BTW and 2 pop up ones in the boot. All fold completely flat.

Are 3 isofix seats essential? It won't be long (in the life of the car) before the oldest child is in a booster seat.

JARM, can dd1 go on just a booster when baby comes?

Dh is refusing to get rid of our car but dd will be on a booster, ds will be in a stage 2 seat and the baby will be a the stage 1 obviously, so it wont be too bad.

JARM · 01/07/2007 18:21

I dont know NBG - she will be 3.4yrs, is it allowed?

She is currently in a highback booster with 5 point harness, and it all comes away to just a highback booster and then the booster cushion on its own.

I reckon if DD1 could go into just the booster we would get it all to fit.

Still havent had a chance to see if the baby car seat fits with the 2 seats as they are at the moment
