Link to the 2014 Legoland thread

Please ask away, and feel free to add your own hints and tips and reviews! Legoland is daunting, esp for parents going on their own so any tips and hints are much appreciated.

None of the regular posters on this thread are employees or associated with Legoland, we are mostly local parents with Annual passes and know the place very well as its our local playground.

Happy Legolanding!

I have read the car park is murder when park closes. Does anyone know if that includes the shuttle bus or if it has a different exit? Need to plan our exit carefully as there is. I way Ian sitting for 2 hours trying to get out!

Bombinate · 08/06/2015 06:49

Do not eat the hot dogs. Never eat the hotdogs.

HermioneWeasley · 08/06/2015 07:04

I second the view on the hotdogs (unless you also need to lose weight fast, but it doesn't matter how unwell you feel at the same time)

HRHQueenMe · 08/06/2015 14:41

Hotdog buns had an expiry date of 2020. Doubt they contain anything edible. Agree re Hotdogs. Avoid. The only thing I would recommend is the coffee in Heartlake City and the fresh Donuts next door. Anything else is at your own risk. (Once bought a burger in the burger kitchen. (Was heavily pg and starving) They forgot to put the burger in. It was a lettuce sarnie....)

We are going to LL at the beginning if July as Scottish school finish earlier. Are going midweek so hoping to avoid some queues. Can anyone explain Qbots and are they necessary?

Sirzy · 09/06/2015 12:53

I got some coffee from heart lake and nearly needed a second mortgage to pay for it!

We took a picnic with us then on the second day went to tesco to get some picnic bits (but having filled up on hotel breakfast didn't need much!)

Smooshface · 09/06/2015 13:15

Do not get coffee from fried chicken place, ordered latte and capuccino, both were practically black!

hairhelpplease · 09/06/2015 13:25

Qbots are where you are given a little device to carry round for the day and it effectively keeps your place in line without you actually being there. It tells you what time you need to be at the ride to get on.

£15 per person I think. I will be using them when we go down in July as England will be off on holiday by then as well.

Anjelika · 09/06/2015 13:50

Kpie - we went yesterday (Monday) and it was unbelievably quiet - not a school trip in sight. It was so quiet that we were able to just stay on some of the rides 3 or 4 times as there was virtually no queue for them!

HRHQueenMe · 09/06/2015 16:19

Just to add to Qbot advice. Use it wisely.

  1. always have something queing on your qbot.
  2. assoon as you are accepted on one ride (staff scan your qbot) start queuing for the next.
  3. save the Long queues for watching shows, lunch, miniland playground etc to save om time.

Can I buy a Qbot on the day or are they advance purchase only?

PoorNeglectedBike · 10/06/2015 12:13

It's DS's 6th birthday this weekend. he's desperate to go, we've put it off waiting for a suitable inset day but there's not been one.

we're thinking of biting the bullet and just going this weekend. but a) will it be hideously busy on a sunday? b) it's going to rain, will this spoil it? and c) no way we can pay an extra 60 for Q-Bots (4 of us), Am i right in thinking that it's mostly the bigger rides that you can use the Q-bot on anyway?

HRHQueenMe · 10/06/2015 15:10

You can qbot most of the rides except a select few (check website) which you can pay extra to add on the day. You can buy qbots online or on the day. Discounted after 3 I think if you buy from the stall at the bottom ofthe park (not 100% sure havent looked it up this year so do check).

Some school groups today but it was reasonably quiet.

Wantsunshine · 10/06/2015 20:30

Neglectedbike if you are going Sunday remember it is Magna Carta day in Runnymeade so make sure you head to LL through Ascot and not through from M25 through old windsor

HRHQueenMe · 11/06/2015 10:57

LL is empty this morning, we are going around twice on everything. Perfect day! Not a single school group! Yay!

So tempted to nip down this afternoon now Grin

PoorNeglectedBike · 11/06/2015 12:08

Thanks, that is an excellent tip, i woulnd't have known about it being magna carta day.

PoorNeglectedBike · 11/06/2015 12:21

can anyone help me decide if we should go on saturday or sunday? we have got a child's party on saturday, which we could miss, though it would be a shame. The weather looks much better on saturday.

is it much better if it's not raining? are sundays just as busy as saturdays does anyone know?

OOAOML · 11/06/2015 12:56

Hi, hope people are still checking this as just found the thread. What are the toilets like? My son has a tendency to need urgently, and I don't want to be stuck in huge queues. Thinking about start of July for visiting. Thanks,

ewanhoozami · 11/06/2015 14:55

Oh arses - I'd been saving nectar points to take DS1 & a pal for his birthday next month.

Just looked at the nectarcard site and it says that points can't be redeemed at Windsor at the moment.

DebbieFiderer · 11/06/2015 16:16

It will definitely be quieter if it is raining, and if you don't mind being a bit wet it could be a good day to go. There are a few indoor things to do if you need a break from the rain (4d cinema, lego building, Olivia's house).

Toilet queues tend to be mainly at the start and end of the day at the loos near the entrance, otherwise they aren't too bad.

ewanhoozami · 11/06/2015 17:18

ooh I have just discovered that £7.50 worth of tesco clubcard vouchers gets a code to buy tickets for july at £20.99.

Is that a good deal?

I'm running on fumes at the moment so any legoland-related money saving tips welcome!

OOAOML · 11/06/2015 21:25

I am trying to weigh up Tesco v Kelloggs vs hotel and park deals.

Are the toilets generally clean etc?

ewanhoozami · 11/06/2015 22:09

Meant to say that £7.50 was for 3 tokens Confused
