THE LEGOLAND 2015 tips hints and reviews thread, all your questions answered here!

Link to the 2014 Legoland thread

Please ask away, and feel free to add your own hints and tips and reviews! Legoland is daunting, esp for parents going on their own so any tips and hints are much appreciated.

None of the regular posters on this thread are employees or associated with Legoland, we are mostly local parents with Annual passes and know the place very well as its our local playground.

Happy Legolanding!

Toilets are spacious and usually clean. Never had cause for concern. Good Family toilets, some cubicles will accomodate double pram and kids galore, esp the mens loos in Heartlake city (used to be family toilets I think they have now changed to Men only.)

ThanksSmile DS is ASD and toilets can be an issue sometimes so good to know.

LaundryFairy · 13/06/2015 19:47

Hi OOAOML - DS is ASD too and does really well with many aspects of Legoland. There are lots of diabled toilets available (which DS also needs to use).

You probably are already aware of it, but if queueing will be too hard for your DS to manage, you can ask at Guest Services for an exit pass that can be used 10 times on a day. It can be a real life saver for those who wouldn't be able to consider visiting Legoland otherwise.

Does anyone knows what is going on with Nectar? We go next week and I have enough points for an adult ticket (DH and DD do a kellog's voucher) but the website tells me Nectar points are not possible to convert.

I am now torn between waiting or pre-booking a ticket for 25% off and pay today.

alltheworld · 15/06/2015 20:46

It is an inset day for us this Friday 19 June - do you think we will need Qbots?
(Grim memories of Chessington one 1 Sept which turned out to be an inset day for the whole country!!)

noramum · 15/06/2015 21:06

We went last year on an inset day mid June and it was very quite. Apart from the driving and boating school we hardly needed to queue at all.

We will go on Monday, an inset day for us and hope for the same luck.

Could I ask the advice of seasoned Legolanders? We have free tickets for this Saturday! However, we have just realised that it is the last day of Royal Ascot, how crazy is the traffic likely to be? Does it mean the park will be busier or quieter than normal? Is this plan of action feasible my DDs are 6 and 4? Thanks for all the advice.

HRHQueenMe · 16/06/2015 02:44

Hi Name Number! Good plan but ambitious! If its busy some queues will be 30 mins at least, popular rides longer. Plan ongetting through one ride per area, anything else is a bonus!
So follow your plan, but choose one ride and if you have time squeeze in another. If its empty you might manage all! Have fun!

Thank you HRH do you think we are bonkers going when Royal Ascot is on?

HRHQueenMe · 16/06/2015 12:19

No, it might be agood day to go, but traffic wise you might struggle when leaving so maybe stay until closing time and grab a coffee upstairs before leaving. If the traffic is bad then stop for dinner and wait it out. X

Thanks for your advice,HRH Thanks

Heels99 · 19/06/2015 09:25

Get q bots if you want to do that many rides. Go to laser raiders first as not in q bot then do others.

Well we managed to get everything we wanted done bar the water play area it was just too drizzly for that to be even suggested. The park stayed open until 7 because of Royal Ascot so we got a whole extra hour too! The traffic coming out wasn't too bad at all and we went right as suggested and there was no problem. We hired a double buggy that was a god send and didn't bother with a Qbot both wise decisions for the day we had.

TaurielTest · 22/06/2015 12:37

Planning a trip with DSs in a couple of weeks on an inset Friday. Very appreciative of all the suggestions in this and previous LL threads, thanks.

Subbing for any news of the Nectar points issue - has anyone (noramum?) found out more about that? We do have Kelloggs vouchers but were planning to use Nectar...

noramum · 23/06/2015 11:21

Puddock - in the end I ordered my ticket online to save some money as I needed to buy it on the day I asked. Sorry, I think contacting Nectar may be the best way.

We went yesterday - inset day for DD - and it was fairly quite, the rain in the morning obviously helped as it got busier but still manageable in the afternoon when the sun came out. We did standard parking, car park B, and we arrived at 10am, thanks to traffic on the M25, and got a space virtually at the front of the car park.

I am very disappointed with the way they handled the Lego Friends area. OK, the ride is not for DD, her problem, not Merlin, but the rest. Sorry, just painting the buildings pink/purple does not mean they are new and Olivia's house - what the heck is this supposed to be? The show, Ok, aimed for girls not adults so DH and I suffered through it, can't really complain apart from the lack of storyline.

annieoaklie · 23/06/2015 18:14

Don't know if this has been asked but if using the Kelloggs vouchers is there a queue for getting tickets? Trying to decide whether it is better to book 7 days in advance and save time on the day or money that we could use fora Qbot. We are going early July , Am I right that schools won't be off yet? Coming from Ireland so schools finished this week here

BellMcEnd · 23/06/2015 18:25

Thank you for a fantastic thread! Some great advice here. Not local to LL but have been a few times. I would definitely agree with taking your own food and plenty of water - there are no water fountains but I've managed to get soft drink vendors to refill.

If you get there as it opens head straight for the far end of the park and work your way back.

Haven't fully read the thread yet so sure my second point has already been covered. The previous LL threads helped me no end before our first trip Smile

noramum · 24/06/2015 11:31

When we arrived at 10am there were four ticket booths open and no queue. That was a day in term time.

TaurielTest · 24/06/2015 11:38

Please check for yourself rather than relying on this, but I'm told that Nectar on the phone have said they can accept Nectar points on the gate at Legoland, but at the moment the points need to be verified by phone rather than with whatever scanners they might otherwise use (that's the nature of the technical problem - no indication of how long the situation might last though).

Yes annie, English state schools don't break up until late July (22nd in our case).

HRHQueenMe · 25/06/2015 16:42

Just a rant, I have seen the Pirate show many many times and strangely still enjoy it, the guys always make it fun and the kids love it. Having watched the friends show twice I am left with an urge to hope the pirates will come and lock the friends girls up in the tower...like forever......ConfusedConfusedConfusedShockShockShockShock

Wow, great thread HRH thanks!

Lego friends turns my stomach anyway...bleurgh! Is it all caring and sharing and lets not do anytiing too strenuous?

My question is, I was thinking about renting a buggy (friend of mine had her buggy pinched there and I cant afford to buy another) is it worth it?

PlayingHouse · 25/06/2015 20:20

There are two water fountains opposite the Duplo theatre.

If you tilt a water bottle at the right angle you can refill them - try not to soak yourself at the same time!

Next to some of the kiosks are placed where you can clean the fizzy drink refillable bottles - it was a bit of a challenge but I managed to refill 4 water bottles here. I did walk away looking like I'd just walk away looking like I'd just come off the log flume though.

DebbieFiderer · 27/06/2015 08:23

The biggest issue with the Lego Friends show is the complete lack of plot. It's like it was written by a 5 year old who hasn't yet learned that stories need a middle as well as a beginning and an end. So there is a brief introduction where they set the scene, then a load of songs, then it finishes. My girls enjoyed it, but we have only seen it once so far, not sure if it will become a 'must-do' in the same way the pirate show has.
