Link to the 2014 Legoland thread

Please ask away, and feel free to add your own hints and tips and reviews! Legoland is daunting, esp for parents going on their own so any tips and hints are much appreciated.

None of the regular posters on this thread are employees or associated with Legoland, we are mostly local parents with Annual passes and know the place very well as its our local playground.

Happy Legolanding!

Hi all - off to legoland for the first time on sun, staying overnight in a local hotel and going back on Monday. Is it a better idea to book qbots on the day or can you book in advance. Also haven't had time to read the whole thread but what rides would you start with first. The dds don't want to do the pirate ship one

OiledBegg · 22/08/2015 15:17

Do laser raiders or coastguard hq or driving school first as they seemed to have the longest and slowest moving queues.

We had the q bot on the first day and so glad we did. I've just got back from our two night stay in the Lego hotel so if anyone has any questions fire away!

EaglesNest · 22/08/2015 16:35

Is the Lego hotel worth the money?

We live about 20 mins away but dds -and dh-- are desperate to stay.

I have vetoed so far because it's so expensive and seems a waste

OiledBegg · 22/08/2015 19:45

If you live so close by then I wouldn't bother with the hotel. We live 150 miles away, when we went last time we stayed in a premier inn in Woking which was a faff driving to/from the park. Being on the Legoland site was so convenient for us. For what you pay for the hotel you could treat all your family to the best q bots and a big wedge to spend in the gift shop!
It was awesome in the hotel and did add to the whole Lego experience but it is SO expensive... But If you're feeling flush maybe go for just one night? Also we had a "themed" room, rather than a "premium" and honestly felt there was so difference. Only thing was no themed wallpaper/bed canopy in the adults section which didn't bother us whatsoever, the kids bit was all themed and that's all we needed. If you look on YouTube there are some video tours of the rooms from guests which might help you decide!

EaglesNest · 23/08/2015 12:19

Thanks oiledbegg. We are annual passholders so don't need Q bots - we just avoid the long queues and go on it next time if it's too busy.

It's good to know the hotel isn't worth the money for us as it is so expensive Smile Thanks

Can anyone help with the places to eat? We're going tomorrow, staying in the hotel but I've heard the food there is not great?
So we're not sure whether to hang on in the park and get tea in one of the restaurants after 5pm with the kids eat free offer, or to set off for Windsor and the delights of Pizza Express!

Of the on-site restaurants, which is the best in your opinions? The pizza buffet one sounds ok....

Would it be a real pain to get in to Windsor at 4.30/5pm?

DebbieFiderer · 30/08/2015 20:19

The pizza buffet one is good, does get very manic though. It's basically pizza hut level food. We often go to the duplo family buffet for dinner as there is more choice; soup, salad, kids' stuff like fish fingers, chicken nuggets, sausages, chips, then lasagne, gammon, veggie chilli, veggie curry and a couple of pasta dishes. Can be hit and miss as if you go when they are quiet, and have been for a while, the food can be dry from having sat out. I haven't eaten in the hotel but I imagine the food there is similar; five for mass catered food, but not as good as somewhere like pizza express.

oifrogsitonalog · 01/09/2015 20:57

I'm planning to take ds age 3 to legoland this week, it will be our first visit. I'm very excited!! Does anyone know if Thursday or Friday is likely to be quieter?

SophiaofSpain · 08/09/2015 22:18

All the local schools are back now so this is the time to enjoy the park again! Thursday should be nice and quiet I hope as Im going!

MegBusset · 08/09/2015 22:22

We're going the week before October half term (inset days here in Norfolk but not in the Home Countries!). Are we likely to need Q bots?

Brindler · 16/09/2015 09:34

Hi everyone. Being lazy and haven't gone through the entire thread so apologies if this has been brought up before ....

Have the opportunity to go for free next week. Are children around 1m tall allowed on any rides themselves? My friend and I who will be taking them are both pregnant so most rides will be pretty much out although I'm not showing yet so may be able to do a few quieter ones but my friend is about to pop so she's got no chance! Any ideas about accompanying them on rides? They'd be quite happy to go by themselves but is it allowed?

SophiaofSpain · 17/09/2015 14:27

There are lots of very gentle rides you will be able to go on alltogether, you will have lots of fun! Enjoy!

PseudoBadger · 26/09/2015 18:23

We are going on Monday having had a great time in April. My friend and I will have 2 5 year olds and 2 2 year olds and are planning to share care of the small ones while we each go on the rides with our respective older DC - will we be able to use parent swap?

SophiaofSpain · 27/09/2015 21:22

Hi Pseudo! Yes of course, just queue up all together and when you get to the front just tell the staffmember you will be parentswapping. The Staff will tell you what to do. Have fun!

Memyselfandthatotherperson · 27/09/2015 22:08

We went for the first time last Friday with 2yo ds. I couldn't believe how busy it was on a term time weekday. Saw 1 school party, quite a few people with small dcs but mostly school age kids and parents. Can someone please explain this to me. Fair enough some home school or SEN, but the shear numbers. It was manic. Can't imaging what it would be like holiday or weekend.

Memyselfandthatotherperson · 27/09/2015 22:09

*imagine

tinkywinkyshandbag · 02/10/2015 20:19

Hi all, going to legoland on Sunday. Are these q-bot things really essential? Is it worth getting them for all or just the children? Slightly horrified at the price on top of the ticket, petrol etc....are they really necessary to have a good time?? Thanks.

SophiaofSpain · 03/10/2015 18:37

Tinky, not essential but will make your life easier. I would start without them and if you find queues are bad then go get them. You should be fine. Have fun!

SophiaofSpain · 04/10/2015 12:13

New stunt added to Pirateshow! Whoop whoop!

PseudoBadger · 04/10/2015 16:18

Does anyone know why they have removed the large (and hot!) pyrotechnic from the end of the pirate show?

tinkywinkyshandbag · 04/10/2015 19:57

Hi all thanks we went today and had a great time, not too busy considering and a lovely day - we made do without the q bots but did spend a fair amount of time queuing. In the main we didn't mind as the rides were good but the laser one in the land of pharoahs, not so much - very short considering the very long queue.

SophiaofSpain · 04/10/2015 21:12

Pseudo, the pyrotechnic is still there, but only works sometimes. It seems very bad tempered...
Its funny every so often people post pics on our local fb site wondering what the black smoke circle (read UFO) seen over Windsor is......

PseudoBadger · 05/10/2015 07:01

Thanks Sophia, it was weird because they all just finished the stunt without the bang so there's no reason for them to do what they do, iyswim? (No spoilers!)

Bellemere · 13/10/2015 21:14

Does anyone know if I convert club card points for Legoland vouchers now, can I use them when the park reopens next year?

Muchtoomuchtodo · 13/10/2015 21:30

I think they need to be used within 6 months. Have they advertised the opening days/hours for 2016 yet?
