Link to the 2014 Legoland thread

Please ask away, and feel free to add your own hints and tips and reviews! Legoland is daunting, esp for parents going on their own so any tips and hints are much appreciated.

None of the regular posters on this thread are employees or associated with Legoland, we are mostly local parents with Annual passes and know the place very well as its our local playground.

Happy Legolanding!

We break up on the 24th

noramum · 21/05/2015 14:34

Hair - we break on the 20th July.

Try to get earlier if possible, I think most private schools break even a week earlier than state.

hairhelpplease · 21/05/2015 15:47

Blast, that's the earliest I can get there.

PlayingHouse · 21/05/2015 17:41

Anyone want to predict how busy it will be this weekend with the Heartlake city opening?

We will be there Sunday.

redskybynight · 22/05/2015 12:16

After some advice please. We don't usually "do" theme parks due to the expense and the fact I am allergic to queues, but we have some Tesco vouchers saved up, and the DC's schools have a random inset day at the end of September this year and they are begging to go to LEGOLAND.

Only thing is that they are 11 and 9, which based on responses on this thread, sounds like it might be too old to really appreciate the park and I wonder if I should try to suggest somewhere else? I have no idea whether they would like big rides or not, on account of they've never been on any!

HRHQueenMe · 22/05/2015 21:57

RedSky, although its aimed at the under 10 market, my nieces and nephews aged 15/13/11 come every year and still beg to go. There are some great fun rides and your kids will love it. For all its worth if they like lego they will love it.

Went today not too busy at all. If you are going tomorrow just for the day I would get a qbot to maximize time, but we had a leisurly stroll around , the new ride in Heartlake looks fab, a baby version of chessingtons Kobra ride.
There was only 15 mins queue for it at 1.30. The new Friends show will bring happiness to all the little girls...very popstar and pink! Beware of the parentparticipation at the start, if you were there today yours truly got dragged up for charades.....also a new walkthrough play area called Olivias House, and the green train is back! No changes to that! :)
Thankfully the lovely pirates are still in recidence 3 times per day, giving the friends girls a run for their money! Its quite cool how the stage changes between the 2 shows!!!
Enjoy!

Also for those of you who like the pirate show, the link below takes you to Pirate Mathew k's webpage where he has filmed himself and Pirate Jacob jumping from the lighthouse, some really cool stuff to show the kids!

We are going Tuesday, no qbots

What do you recommend we make a run for first??
Atlantis?
Dragon?
Log flume type thing?

Boys are 10 & 5

sheffscan4 · 24/05/2015 21:32

We are coming next week- Tuesday 2nd June. Are local schools back then or still on holiday? Do we need Q bots? Had virtually decided to get them after reading this very helpful thread, but am wondering if it's term time I might get away without them(would need 4). We are staying at the LL hotel, so will get early entrance, which should help! Would be grateful for any advice from regulars!

momwhereismy · 24/05/2015 22:26

How much are the driving licences? And the panning for gold? Thanks!

PlayingHouse · 25/05/2015 09:11

Went yesterday. Packed. Although dh and dd1 made a run for Heartlake city (which was a disappointment) and got on the new ride twice in the first ten minutes.

The new ride seems to be the only exciting thing about the new city.

Oh and the mirrors inside Olivia's house were funny ... for about minute.

That said Olivia's house looked unfinished so maybe it will improve.

Sirzy · 25/05/2015 09:16

We are going on Wednesday for 2 days. Can't wait. Will have a read through the thread later

rowrowrowtheboat · 25/05/2015 15:07

Hi, how big a bag can you take on the rides? Would you be able to have a rucksack a similar size to small children's rucksack (about 30cm high) just to keep purse and stuff online?

Are there lockers to put a bigger bag with snacks and picnic in?

PlayingHouse · 25/05/2015 15:40

Can't have bags on rides but there is always a place to leave the bags which you can collect afterwards.

That said, a small cross body bag is fine - just nothing lose.

There are lockers as well.

rowrowrowtheboat · 25/05/2015 21:00

Thank you!

PlayingHouse · 26/05/2015 19:40

Busy again today.

New ride got stuck whilst my daughter was on there, they were trapped in their seats for about 5 minutes before they could be released. A poor boy near my daughter was being sick but couldn't move so just had to throw up over himself and the ride, poor kid.

Went past the ride at lunchtime and it was fine but a few hours later it was broke again and they were trying to fix it. At least no one was on it this time.

Not really good enough though.

And Olivia's house still seems to be full of nothing Confused Hmm

MozzchopsThirty · 26/05/2015 22:32

Pirate falls was broke too, after we queued for 45 mins ??

I'm not going again, we went on 4 rides all day, queuing was bonkers and £10 for a ride pic WTF!!!!

It's the first time I've been back to a theme park since Disney Florida and I think it's ruined me forever Grin

PlayingHouse · 27/05/2015 08:45

Oh no! We still had a fun day and got on a few rides;

Pirate ship
Big dragon roller coaster
Log flume
spinning spider
Mias adventure (but it broke at the end Angry )
Both driving schools
boating schools
The swings
the horses
the scarab bouncer twice

We also watched the Lego friends show, spent about 45 mins building in the imagination centre, went to the cinema, had a picnic on the fake grass by mia's ride, went round Olivias house again (pretty pointless) and spent an hour in Castaway camp and 15 mins in the hotel playground

PlayingHouse · 27/05/2015 08:48

Agree about the photos - ridiculous. We never get them.

I wish they would a scheme where annual pass holders could pre pay for say 5 photos at a discount, and then choose 5 photos over the whole season, rather than just one day.

ChalkyC · 28/05/2015 06:38

Hello - first time Lego-lander here! We're going this weekend with our two boys, 6 and 4. We're staying at the hotel - if we arrive about 9 can we park at the hotel and get the early access in on the first day?
Very excited boys here! Will go through the thread for other tips.

HRHQueenMe · 28/05/2015 23:36

Chalky Im sure you can just ring a head and make sure! Wedid when we stayed but it was 3 years ago so things could have changed. They should store your luggage too. Enjoy!! Xx

Hello :) gatecrashing in to ask a random question. ... !

Thinking about taking our ds aged 3 along, however he has autism and sensory issues and I know he wouldn't cope with too many trains / tubes to get there etc. I'm debating between driving it (from Norfolk!) Or going on the train to London liverpool street and then Windsor. .. has anyone taken a taxi from Windsor to the park? Looking for some idea of how much that might cost or if there's any other way to make the journey a bit less awful. Hmmm. ..!

dumdedah · 29/05/2015 20:30

Have learnt a lot over the past months dipping into the LL threads, but didn't note the answers to these questions down and don't have time now for research - so help appreciated!

Which are the rides that you get wet on?

What can you do on a rainy day there?
(which it looks like Tues will be, day 2 of our 2 day visit.. Sad)

Also, is there a printable map for the park somewhere? The interactive one on the website isn't great for printing and planning.

Thanks!

HRHQueenMe · 29/05/2015 23:47

Fairylea, there is a shuttlebus from Windsor Eton Riverside Station, (leaves from opposite the theatre). Taxi is not that far, use a local minicab. 5-10 mins depending on traffic. The red sightseeing bus covers LL too. Lots of choices!

Wet rides; viking river splash, raft racers, pirate falls.
Atlantis and boatingschool and fsirytale brook are on water but you do not get wet.
You do get squirted by waterguns on the Heartlake city express. Revenge it all by the hilltrain station where there are interactive squirters!! Whooahahaha!
You can shoot water at riders by the viking river splash too!
