Link to the 2014 Legoland thread

Please ask away, and feel free to add your own hints and tips and reviews! Legoland is daunting, esp for parents going on their own so any tips and hints are much appreciated.

None of the regular posters on this thread are employees or associated with Legoland, we are mostly local parents with Annual passes and know the place very well as its our local playground.

Happy Legolanding!

Felt sorry for anyone that bought Q bots yesterday they weren't needed at all.

The only queue that was longer than 15 mins was laser riders.

We walked onto Atlantis, pirate ship, spinning spider, fire engines, hot air balloon ride, the carasoul and the swings with no que at all.

At the end of the day we did the river raft ride three times in a row because the queue was no longer than a 2 minute wait. My dds loved that!

Also had lots of fun in drench towers with no 20 minute time limit.

Thanks for this excellent and informative thread everyone :) We're going tomorrow, taking DCs who are 6 and 3. So much useful advice here, I feel much better prepared! Just wish DH hadn't given away our stroller last year...

ToastieWarm · 20/04/2015 12:27

My numpty DH has gone and sprained his ankle and we are due to go to LL on Friday. The website says we can hire wheelchairs but does anyone know how much they cost?

PseudoBadger · 22/04/2015 19:13

Hi, we go on Friday and stay overnight at the hotel. I'm thinking with school term perhaps not to get q bots, any thoughts? We could always get them on Saturday if friday is a disaster.
There is DP and me, and DS (4) and dd (18 months). Any tactics for doing rides in that combination? We will be entering through the hotel both days.
Thanks!

GiantGaspingSatanicCyst · 22/04/2015 21:23

Pseudo we were there on Saturday and it was busy but not unbearable. We did some popular rides first thing, then pirate show, Duplo Valley etc at the peak of the day, then a few more rides towards closing time (mine are 6 and 3 though so had reasonable staying power).

We have merlin passes so go a lot - on a weekend if we want to hit all the rides we get a qbot but otherwise we go early - our dd likes the big rides so do jolly rocker, paradise falls, and dragon early then go to drench towers - dd is 5 and unimpressed by duplo land rides that have big queues.

chickensandbees · 29/04/2015 13:20

We're planning to go on a Sunday in June. I presume Sundays are megabusy?

We have never been before and have 2 DDs (6 & 4) and have never been to a them park before (deprived children) Grin! Any tips for what we should visit in a day with two girls?

Also we are thinking of camping the night before, are there any good campsites?

Heels99 · 29/04/2015 16:27

Get q bots you will do so much more in a day

HermioneWeasley · 30/04/2015 20:25

We are planning to go Monday 1St June. Any views on whether we will need/benefit from a q bot?

Also, we are planning to stay at premier inn Slough - anyone done this for legoland?

DebbieFiderer · 02/05/2015 18:42

Don't know about accommodation I'm afraid, but I wouldn't bother with q bots on a weekday during term time. If it is unexpectedly busy you can always get one when you are there. Do check they are open though, for part of the year they are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

noramum · 05/05/2015 11:28

Does anybody know when the Lego Friends bit will open? DD is desperate to go and we have an inset day on the 22nd June but I wouldn't go if that part is still closed.

HRHQueenMe · 05/05/2015 22:36

Noramum it says opening May 2015, but I will believe it when I see it. I cant see any work being done at the moment....

DebbieFiderer · 06/05/2015 18:03

They've just announced an opening date of May 23rd :)

noramum · 07/05/2015 10:37

Great, thanks

HRHQueenMe · 07/05/2015 23:00

Debbie, shock! Horror! Just saw email re opening, is this the end of the Pirates of Skeleton bay? To be replaced by LegoFriends to the Rescue? My children will be horrified!!!

From what they have said previously, in particular on their Facebook page, the pirate show will be staying as it is, the Lego Friends show will be in addition to it. From the looks of the map I think they will be building a new stage where the diggers used to be.

BikeRunSki · 08/05/2015 12:54

Fabulous, this is the thread I didn't know I was looking for!

We are thinking of taking DS and DD in the summer holidays. They'll be 6 and 3 (both will be close to their birthdays). DS's birthday is the week they go back to school.

We're be coming from near Leeds, so are thinking of doing 2 days, but Shock at cost (still coming to terms with the cost of doing anything in the school hols). My Qs are:

Do we need 2 days?
Will it be hell in the summer holidays?
If we stay in the Lego hotel, then do we get into the park earlier or quicker?

DebbieFiderer · 08/05/2015 13:06

I would say either two days or Q bots definitely. Q bots probably work out cheaper than two days in the park. Also worth bearing in mind that there are always offers available, so you won't need to pay full price for tickets. It will be very very busy in the summer holidays, but Q bots plus good planning (use the tips on this thread!) should make it bearable. I'm not 100% sure about the Legoland hotel, but I think that you do get in to the park earlier, or if not you would at least get to the rides quicker as it is closer.

HRHQueenMe · 08/05/2015 19:15

Thank you Debbie! I was already planning the "bring back the Pirates" petition!!! An additional girlie show is an excellent idea in that case! The pirate show is brilliant and my kids talk along with the dialogue, they love it! It would have been terrible had it gone! The actors in it deserve medals performing it 7 days a week 4 times a day.....

Hotel guests get 30 mins extra access from 9.30, use this time wisely. Not all rides open but I would do boating school and Atlantis then leg it to the dragon before the gates open at 10. (Come back and do dinosafari later).

BikeRunSki, tell staff on arrival its DDs birthday and she will get a birthday badge!

Legoland have just said on their FB page that the height restriction for the new ride in heartlake city will be 1.2 m.

No good for my 4yo dd2. She has just reached 1m so can do all the rest of the rides so will be upset about this Sad

hairhelpplease · 21/05/2015 13:06

Are schools in England on holiday come 28th July? Thinking about coming from Scotland for 2 day then but I bet it is going to be bonkers?

PlayingHouse · 21/05/2015 13:37

Yes they are
