Link to the 2014 Legoland thread

Please ask away, and feel free to add your own hints and tips and reviews! Legoland is daunting, esp for parents going on their own so any tips and hints are much appreciated.

None of the regular posters on this thread are employees or associated with Legoland, we are mostly local parents with Annual passes and know the place very well as its our local playground.

Happy Legolanding!

Hi, I live 2.5 hours away from Windsor. I have 2 options

  1. Come the night before and them spend the whole of the next day at legoland
2.leave in the morning and get e 2 day ticket for legoland. So half of one day and whole of the next

Which one would you recommend please?

JosephFriend · 29/06/2015 21:41

Sorry if this has already been posted, but on my latest trip I used my smartphone to check the q times while at the park, seemed to save a lot of bickering as we knew before we got to the ride whether we were happy with how long we would have to wait - far less walking halfway across the park just to decide that we didn't want to wait an hour for boating lake Grin. There are probably others but I used this site.

DebbieFiderer · 30/06/2015 07:30

Jelly, I would probably do the second option, for more time in the park, if it is likely to be a one off trip, and if you can afford the tickets for two days. That said, it would partly depend on how old/brave your children are (and therefore how many of the big rides they are likely to want to do), what time of year (and therefore how busy), whether or not you will get q bots, and how late you will be able to stay in the evening.

PlayingHouse · 30/06/2015 13:04

Josephfriend - thank you so much! That will be really helpful when I'm at home deciding if it's worth going to Legoland for the day.

Didn't even know there was a site like that Smile

Is it quite accurate?

JosephFriend · 30/06/2015 15:31

^PlayingHouse when we used it on saturday it tended to be optimistic normally by about 5 mins, so if you add about 5 mins to each of the displayed times you should find it quite accurate. We certainly never waited less than the time that was posted.

JellyBellies · 30/06/2015 21:21

Thanks Debbie. It is going to be a one off trip and I have some kellogs vouchers. Kids are 4 and 6 and I was thinking if getting q bots for one day. It will be in the summer holidays so likely to be packed.

I'm thinking that we should stay 2 nights, so drive down, stay the night and then get a 2 day ticket.

PlayingHouse · 01/07/2015 15:00

That's brilliant joesphsfriend, thank you Smile Thanks

LittlePoot · 01/07/2015 19:16

Just to say I had a fabulous day at legoland today with my 4 year old and thanks so much for all the good advice and tips on here. It was remarkably quiet - apparently Wednesday is often the quietest day in a week - and the queue website link was really useful too. Little one was asleep before we even made it out of the carpark so a great success all round!

babybabynamechange · 02/07/2015 09:22

Planning to go this Sunday - will it be crazy?

DS is 2.10 and we've been before so I know he will love it however I'm pregnant - am I going to be able to go on any rides with him?

JosephFriend · 03/07/2015 12:41

^ babybabynamechange: Based on the weather, and the time of the year, prepare for insanity. Just to give you an idea, I found this graph on that queue website for last sunday, I would think this sunday will be like that but busier. Graph: i.imgur.com/xGZp3i2.png

babybabynamechange · 03/07/2015 13:55

Thanks Joseph interesting link. Never mind - with DS being only 2 and me being pregnant we weren't going to go on many 'rides' anyway, I'm sure we will have a fab time.

Melissande · 03/07/2015 17:15

Any ride your 2 y oldcan go on is ususally ok for a pregnant mum, except coastguard/boating school which is not recommended but I did it whilst heavily pg, just beware of the bumps!;) if your 2 y old is over 90 cm there is more choice but you will easily fill the day.

OneTwoOrThree · 05/07/2015 14:28

Planning to go next Sunday, 12 July. Kids are 6 and 3, so happy to avoid the big rides (and therefore hopefully avoid the worst of the queues). We can be there early, but need to be on a ferry from Portsmouth at 8pm, with latest check-in at 7pm. What time would you recommend leaving Legoland to get to Portsmouth? Google maps says it's a 1h20m drive, so I was thinking about being in the car leaving at 4.30 / 5pm?

OneTwoOrThree · 05/07/2015 14:32

Also, is it worth bringing swim stuff or is there plenty to do without getting wet? Would you recommend premium parking? Are Kelloggs vouchers the best value entry? Thanks so much :)

PlayingHouse · 05/07/2015 14:47

Traffic can be horrific if turning left onto the M4 from Legoland on a busy day.

Definitely take swimming stuff if it's hot. It's great for the DC to cool down and let loose after spending hours in queues.

PlayingHouse · 05/07/2015 14:47

Don't bother with premium parking.

OneTwoOrThree · 05/07/2015 14:49

Thanks. I think we would turn right and head for M3, or perhaps A3. Good to know the premium parking isn't worth it. I'm not planning on getting the QBOTS as they're v expensive. :)

PlayingHouse · 05/07/2015 14:52

Of course you would turn right! Blush

IME traffic isn't too bad that way. That's the way we always go, but we head through Bracknell to get home.

AttitcusFinchIsMyFather · 09/07/2015 22:15

Embarassing question, but how are the rides for larger guests? Im a size 24, will I fit? Blush

Melissande · 09/07/2015 23:00

Atticus, I fitted fine as a heavily pregnant size 18, so you should be fine!

AttitcusFinchIsMyFather · 10/07/2015 08:05

Thank you! Very worried about it.

DebbieFiderer · 10/07/2015 11:40

There were a few rides I struggled on as a size 24/26, but not many. From memory they were duplo valley airport (but that was partly due to wet jeans making it hard to manoeuvre my legs into position!), dragon's apprentice, and one or two others that are aimed at smaller children. If you are reasonably fit and flexible then you should be fine, the biggest issue I find is getting my legs to fit under the bars, but if you kind of cross your ankles and splay your knees then it helps.

OneTwoOrThree · 10/07/2015 21:27

Weather doesn't look good for Sunday Hmm. Tell me the silver lining is that Legoland will be much quieter??

AttitcusFinchIsMyFather · 12/07/2015 11:33

Thank you Debbie :)

Queenmarigold · 13/07/2015 13:28

Is there anywhere to stay nearby with interconnecting rooms?
