Link to the 2014 Legoland thread

Please ask away, and feel free to add your own hints and tips and reviews! Legoland is daunting, esp for parents going on their own so any tips and hints are much appreciated.

None of the regular posters on this thread are employees or associated with Legoland, we are mostly local parents with Annual passes and know the place very well as its our local playground.

Happy Legolanding!

We are going tomorrow and wed ... Me,dh, DD who is 4 and DS who is 8. I'm feeling nervous for some reason.

306235388 · 14/07/2015 22:33

Thanks for tips had a fab day and back tmro.

My only top tip is take spare shoes, DD got soaking feet on the squid ride.

Dc loved splash parks, submarine ride and pirate show especially.

Melissande · 14/07/2015 23:46

306 good tip! Glad you had a good time! The Pirate show rocks! Dont forget to stay behind and wait for the pirates to come out after the show. They are all great guys and will happily pose for photos and chat to the kids!

Hello, I have just written down a load of tips from this thread - thank you so much!

Can I just ask, I am taking ds who is 3 and a bit of a wuss on Sunday. Do we need a qbot or is that not aimed at the smaller rides he will want?

Also, I am getting myself in a tizzy about it being just the 2 of us logistically. I cant really take a buggy as he refuses to use it and when he does a runner I cant chase him - so, do I take a rucksack and carry it with me or leave it in lockers? When we do the water splashy bit, how do I follow him and not get our stuff wet?!?

I know, silly questions, but I am nervous for some reason!

Melissande · 15/07/2015 15:10

Twirly, bring a small rucksack, you will be fine. (I would bring a buggy as its a lot of walking and a long day) . Just take the rucksack with you in the smaller kids water area, you wont get that wet unless you want to. If you go into the big water area there are places to leave bags if I remember rightly.
You should be fine without a qbot if you are just doing the easy rides. Have a good day!!

twirlypoo · 15/07/2015 17:09

Is it really worth borrowing a buggy you think? We did alton towers without but mainly just stuck to CBeebies land. Do the ones you can borrow from there recline do you know?

Thank you so much for the reply, im Going between sooooo excited and terrified! It's part of a larger holiday I've booked just the 2 of us btw, im not just being pathetic about legoland Grin

Toohotforme · 15/07/2015 18:02

Going in October - just booked up so following with interest.

TwickMum · 15/07/2015 20:30

Can someone give me an insight to going with 3 children and only 2 adults? Is this still a problem when the children are 7 and 4 and 4 and all over 1m? TIA

PlayingHouse · 16/07/2015 12:41

Is your eldest 1.3m? If so they can ride by themselves on the big dragon rollercoaster, meaning you won't have to parent swap.

Crutchlow35 · 17/07/2015 13:35

Can I ask about the lockers? We are coming straight to LL from Heathrow. Are they within easy access as I don't particularly want to carry tonnes of stuff around with me all day if I can easily leave in a locker and have access during the day to swimming stuff and snacks?

DebbieFiderer · 18/07/2015 09:14

The lockers are easy to access but not that big. Fine for swimming stuff and a few snacks, but won't take a big picnic bag. Also, they cost £1, which isn't refundable when you open them, so it will cost you £1 every time you want to retrieve stuff. There are lockers at The Beginning (tempting to drop stuff there as soon as you arrive but bit of a pain to keep going back to), next to the 4D theatre (a bit easier) and by the splash park (best if it is mainly swim stuff you want to stash).

Help! I'd promised a Legoland trip tomorrow to DS1, DS2 and DS2's friend because I have unfeasible quantities of Nectar points. Realised two minutes after the information phone line closed that it says on the Nectar site you can't redeem points at the moment. Does anyone know if this is correct?

Crutchlow35 · 18/07/2015 19:18

Yes it is. I checked last week. Annoying as I have loads of them and can't use them. With trying to see if they have changed it though. I can't be the only call they've had and it is the start of the English school Hols.

twirlypoo · 19/07/2015 10:27

We have been stuck for last 45 mins in a traffic jam to get into legoland. Ds Gojng bananas. I forgot our pack lunches and didn't buy qbots elther. Pleas tell me today isn't gojng to be a disaster already? ConfusedHmm

Melissande · 19/07/2015 13:18

Twirly did you go satnav way or alternative route?please look up the altertive route online before going as you will skirt around the back of Windsor yet get there quicker!

JennyWithers · 21/07/2015 10:39

Crutchlow, I had no problem using Nectar points on Sunday so it might be worth you trying again. They've got an issue with some of the Nectar terminals not working but I just had to go to a different ticket window.

Crutchlow35 · 21/07/2015 10:40

That's great news!

Maryak78 · 23/07/2015 13:33

Hi Legoland experts! We are considering our first trip to Legoland end of August or early September, before schools go back. Do you think it will be quieter the later we wait, e.g. 1st or 2nd September?

Or will going in half-term or a term-time weekend be better? Any advice appreciated! it will be DH and me with our 3 kids aged 3.5 and 6 and 7.5 yrs. Very excited but nervous having read the reviews about horrible crowds and queues. I plan to buy the family ticket using Tesco Boost.
TIA x

Melissande · 24/07/2015 07:31

A term time weekend, esp with not so good weather will be quieter, sept will be better than august which is MAD. You can still do it just get a qbot, otherwise you will be queing all day. Remember to utilize your qbot, ALWAYS have something queing, and save the long queues for when you to shows, starwars, cinema, miniland etc. Lots of playgrounds to explore etc so be smart and plan ahead with your map and you will get lots done. And do lunch in front of a show to maximize time.

Just reading up as we are going again next week. Staying nearby and planning to have 2 days at Legoland and 2 days at Chessington. dS1 is desperate to go to Thorpe Park as well despite being too small to go on anything there as he is only 1.3m!

Baddz · 24/07/2015 17:58

Hi
We want to go for ds2s b day for the weekend at the end of sept.
Any tips/ways to get cheaper tickets?
We don't shop at tesco I'm afraid.

Baddz · 24/07/2015 18:01
DebbieFiderer · 24/07/2015 18:39

You're All, don't discount Thorpe park completely, there is a fair amount for smaller kids too.

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 24/07/2015 20:18

Thanks - he is obsessed with the giant bloody swing. DS2 is a total wimp and won't get wet, though, so a lot of the littler rides are out.

We've got Merlin passes so even half a day is doable.

I need to measure him before we set off on Sunday and buy platform trainers

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 25/07/2015 11:22

About to bite the bullet and book QBots for Monday. It'll be madness, won't it, even if the weather is pants?
