Starting afresh for the new season! The new pirate playground is not yet built (what have they been doing all winter????) but the park has been pruned and tidied and looked lovely yesterday! Xbox room is still closed as well.

The new Pirate Captain Birdsnest is a bit more of an eyecandy man for us mums than last years young man, so thats an improvement, and the lovely pirate Georgie is back in all her glory, still as charming as ever!

Please add your hints and tips, and there is a few of us LL regulars who come on here and will happily answer all your questions!!

Lastly, there is a new burger joint under construction, so that will be a great improvement (as long as they keep the prices reasonable). The coffeeshop in the harbour still does great latte!

Enjoy!

fairytrain are you driving or public transport? Its a 5-10 minute drive from the King Edward carpark which is attatched to the Travellodge, or you have the Legoland Shuttle bus within 5 mins walk, or the hop on hop off sightseeing buses will also take you there!

FairyTrain · 08/05/2014 20:18

Thanks HRH we will be using public transport/taxi. Where does the shuttle bus stop? Do you need to book it? So much to think about!

Legoland shittle info

The hotel staff will point you in the right direction but the busstop is right opposite the Royal Theatre just past MC D's and Starbucks. The sightseeing buses stop right outside the castle.

I'm going on Saturday for DS2's 5th birthday :)

Bought the tickets with Clubcard vouchers & used Clubcard vouchers for 2 nights at the Hilton in Bracknell so is costing bugger all really.

Am aiming to arrive at 9am to mill around in the compound bit before racing towards the Knights Kingdom. Hopefully no queues for parking before then!

I'm undecided whether to leave at 4 so there are no queues to get out, or leave it until closing but eat at the kids go free after 3 place, so the kids get their evening meal & if there is a queue to get out there's less stress as they won't get cranky with hunger. If we leave at 4 then we drive to Bracknell & try to find a fish & chip shop or similar & take it back to hotel. Undecided, any ideas?

onetiredmummy · 14/05/2014 10:57

My aunt has used her Clubcard points to buy the Legoland tickets for us but she isn't coming. I have the print outs that I take to the gates, does anybody know if they ask for ID?

CheekyChimpsMummy · 14/05/2014 14:40

We've booked to go in a couple of weeks time and we're very excited. Ds is 5 - has anyone had any experience of the driving schools? I know it says that little learner (3-5 yrs) is suited to his age range but tbh the track looks a bit babyish so am hoping that he can go to the driving school (age 6+) with his cousin (age 7) Is this likely or are we going to be told that he can't go on it? Thanks in advance!

TitusFlavius · 14/05/2014 15:06

Is there any way to find out if there's something special going on that means that day should be avoided? I got rather burned last time we went - we usually love legoland, but it turned out to be the scouts' anniversary, or something so there was an extra SEVEN THOUSAND children as well as all the usual packed crowd! It was a bleedin' nightmare, and really put me off. We haven't been since.

HRHQueenMe · 14/05/2014 17:51

onetiredmummy i have used my tesco vouchers for visitors and they have never been asked for ID.
cheeky teach 5 year old to say he is 6. Practice. The attendant asks every child their age, the trick is to answer confidently: I'm 6! Problem solved. (Recoils in horror at 2 y o trashing the drivingschool....he was good at saying i'm 3 though!!!)
titus ring them and ask! If you cant get through, choose the staff option, they always answer!!!! (Cheeky I know but why have a customer services number where you cant speak to a real person!!!)

Aw thanks for the heads up HRH. We will get practicing with him straight away! I wasn't sure if it was done on height restrictions or purely on age.... Hopefully we won't have any disasters but your little one sounds like keep he had a great time!!!

onetiredmummy · 15/05/2014 09:48

Thanks HRH, I was starting to panic about being turned away at the gates!

onetiredmummy · 18/05/2014 14:19

We went yesterday & had a great day! Busier than expected due to temperature & lots of people but queues not too bad.

We turned up at 9, parked in the empty car park & by the time we had both kids & rucksacks ready to start walking to the entrance, so 10 minutes tops, the car park was full! When we got to the entrance in 5 minutes there was already a massive queue, this was at 9:10am & the queue for the pre printed tickets was longer than the purchase tickets queue. At 9:30 the gates opened & I just scanned the Tesco vouchers one by one into the machine, no questions it was fab. DP says that the parking machine had no change though.

We went straight to the Knights Kingdom & no wait for the dragon rollercoaster, we were actually lucky with queues they seemed to be moving really quickly. The worst ones were the log flume at 4:30 & the laser raiders one at about lunchtime, both around 30-45 mins. The rest were under 10 mins including Atlantis. (Although the driving & sailing school queues were so bad we didn't even attempt the rides, next time we will go there first). Apart from those 2 I'm glad we didn't shell out for Q Bots.

We spent £12 on 4 ice creams. The entry we got free with Tesco Clubcard vouchers pre-ordered, we stopped off at Sainsburys in Bracknell first & bought a picnic which we took in our rucksacks & I think we also spent £2 in the drying off machines for DS2. So once we were in there it cost us £14 but equally could have been nothing. We used Clubcard points to get a weekend at the Hilton in Bracknell as well & stayed there the Friday & Saturday nights. We were glad we stayed the Saturday night, we were all knackered after Legoland & I didn't realise we would be so tired.

DCs loved the Lego Chima 4D cinema show, we actually went in twice & saw Lego Racers as well. Its worth walking to, its past Miniland & up at the top.

There were no wasps at all.

We are planning our trip for an Inset-Day in June (direct after half-term) and are total LEGO-virgins so please help us.

We live in SE London and plan to drive on the day in the morning. I assume the M25 will be bad so when is a good time to actually be there? What I heard from Onetiredmummy it would be good to be very early but is this also the case for Inset-days?

Is it worth getting Qbots for days during the week?

DD will be nearly 7 but is not the adventurous type and hates anything scary or thrilling.

Trinovantes · 19/05/2014 12:21

There's always a queue when it opens, so if you really want to be first, get there even earlier! I do like to be first, but I have a friend who much prefers to go later in the day, and stay until closing, when a lot of other families will have staggered off in exhaustion.

Mine was 7 when he first started going, and he doesn't like any of the scary rides (eg no rollercoasters), but the nice thing about legoland is that there's a lot of much gentler stuff to do instead. Even rides like Atlantis are very gentle, as well as stuff like Fairy Tale Brook.

Overtiredbackagain · 19/05/2014 12:45

Hi we're going LL in a couple of weeks time for the weekend, staying at Marriott Windsor Heathrow. We're driving up from Kent, so M25, what junction is best to come off for the signed alternative route? Then presumably when leaving to go to the hotel, turn right out of LL and head for M4 junction 5?

Many thanks for a great thread!

willucy1 · 19/05/2014 12:47

Hi

Have searched the threads but can't find an answer to this. We have a Kelloggs adult free voucher and know that the accompanying child ticket has to be purchased from the park on the day - however, can we use Nectar points to buy the child ticket?

Thanks in advance

noramum · 19/05/2014 15:42

Going later isn't an option as the day after is a school day and we anticipate 2 hours for the drive back anyway. So up with the sun it seems.

How much spare clothes do I need? We went to Chessington yesterday and two wet rides meant we were soaked. Luckily with the weather it didn't matter but it feels like we will only do water based rides in LL.

HRHQueenMe · 20/05/2014 07:31

Overtired, for the hotel come off JCT5 on the M4, first exit after you have left the M25 heading towards bristol. It will be signposted Datchet. The Hotel sits on this Junction, take 3rd exit and you are there. To go to LL go across jct towards Datchet, go through the village over rail crossing. Take a left towards old windsor, then right at the roundabout for Windsor. After passing the castle and crossing the long walk , take a left towards Ascot and its signposted from there. Have fun!! ( ps leave hotel 1h15 before opening time latest, to be there at 10 I would leave 8.15 to give you a chance to get there, get parked organized and sorted with no stress)

Noramum, wetsuits are good if its a hot day!:) there are dryers at £1 a pop but bring as much spares as you can carry and try to dry as you go. Put the kids in swimshorts and Tshirts and leave dry clothes in the car. Then carry spare swimshorts and tops. Light and easy.

DS has got the day off on Thursday due to polling at his school, so we're going for his birthday treat - I'm taking one of his mates. Do you reckon we'll need the Queuebot things?! By which I mean how busy will it be? (Can you tell I haven't been before Grin)

Also have any of you tips for older kids? The boys are 9 but nearly 10.

  • finally are sandwiches a good idea or are the eatery places there not too much of a rip off? I know they'd love a burger or something but I don't want the anxt of queues of finding it costs an arm and a leg.
HRHQueenMe · 20/05/2014 22:54

Smee, you should be fine and have a lovely day on thursday! I wouldnt think you will need a qbot.
Theres lots fot older kids, start off in Knights kingdom, and they will enjoy the pirate show!
