Starting afresh for the new season! The new pirate playground is not yet built (what have they been doing all winter????) but the park has been pruned and tidied and looked lovely yesterday! Xbox room is still closed as well.

The new Pirate Captain Birdsnest is a bit more of an eyecandy man for us mums than last years young man, so thats an improvement, and the lovely pirate Georgie is back in all her glory, still as charming as ever!

Please add your hints and tips, and there is a few of us LL regulars who come on here and will happily answer all your questions!!

Lastly, there is a new burger joint under construction, so that will be a great improvement (as long as they keep the prices reasonable). The coffeeshop in the harbour still does great latte!

Enjoy!

Yes, I used Tesco vouchers for one dc, but paid full price for the other dc so that I could get in free using a Kellogg's voucher (on the boxes of any Kellogg's kids-type cereals like cornflakes, frosties, but not Alpen etc). I think if you're going in term probably one day will be enough - if you're going in the school summer holidays I think one day would only be enough if you got the 'middle' Qbot which cuts the waiting time in half. We had the very basic one and there were a few rides we didn't get to, and we didn't get time to look at mini-land either! (but saw the star wars mini land).

mrswimpeydimple · 24/04/2014 10:04

I'm planning to take DS to Legoland on Friday 2nd May for his 4th birthday treat, just me and him. I've got our tickets with Tesco vouchers and have read and hopefully remembered all these tips, thank you everyone!

I do have one question though. Are we going to need Qbots? It isn't a school holiday when we're going but there is a bank holiday that weekend. Will it be really busy or quiet? And if I do need a Qbot, how many? Will one suffice for just me and DS?

wellthatsdoneit · 24/04/2014 17:02

You can buy a Qbot on the day if it's busy mrsw - that's what I'd probably do in this situation. You will get one Qbot pager but need to buy for each rider (ie 2 people) so the most basic one will cost you 2x£15.

By the way, if anybody is going soon and wants it I have a left over photo voucher which will entitle you to a photo at one of the rides or a LEGOLAND driving licence. If you want it PM me your address and I will put it in the post.

tiredandsadmum · 24/04/2014 19:36

be slightly careful buying qbots on the day. I went last year with DS and it seemed to be cheaper if you bought them later in the day so we waited. They had sold out which was slightly frustrating.

Just setting off for a four hour drive down. Weather looking dodgy so hoping for less queues!

Can I ask, if you go with a buggy (dc2 will be 2) can you leave it while you go on a ride together or does someone (likely to be me Hmm) always have to stay with it?
Likely to have loads of stuff, what with swim suits and towels being required!

ChippyMinton · 26/04/2014 15:32

There are buggy parks at the rides.
Take a small rucksack or cross body bag for your valuables (purse, keys, camera, phone) to take on the rides.

Thank you!Grin

Hi. Can I ask something? I have mobility problems ( Bulging disc in my back) and have booked to go in June. Is there anywhere in the park that hires mobility scooters? Have never been but am worried about getting around. Thanks.

HRHQueenMe · 26/04/2014 23:20

MrsElizabethDarcy (lovely name) I would give LL a call and ask, they pride themselves on being very disability friendly, and I have seen people on mobility scooters there but cant tell you if they are LL scooters or privately owned/hired. You can do the whole park in a scooter, it is very accessible, I usually have a double pushchair with me and can get everywhere including into the loos with the pushchair (the Family toilets by the pirate show are massive and have 2 loos)
Good luck and enjoy your day!

Had a great day yesterday and yes we had sunshine!
Dds face was a picture as we pulled in as she had no idea we were going or the Aussie relatives would be waiting for her.
Legoland is well signposted from the m4 ,we came from "oop north". Paid £9 to park in priority as wed saved by bringing pack up,got there at half nine, parked on the front row. We took MacDonald's vouchers and kellogs vouchers and the lovely kiosk lady worked out mcds would save us twenty pounds. Had to wait ten mins for park to open and walked down and did beat the train.
We were straight on the log flume and the spider thing,no queues. Driving school was only a twenty minute queue. Hour from going in to coming out the lazer thing and forty five mins for the big dragon coaster.
We went on everything we wanted, didn't get too wet on the water rides. The pirate show at dinnertime was brilliant, duplo water bit was amazing if cold and dd would have stayed in it all day.
The park was clean, minimal queues, didn't think the kiosks were overpriced and we had a brilliant day.
Only bad point was if you want to spend your time looking at everything and going on all the rides you need more than one day!
Thought my dd would be too old for it at seven but we've got a couple of years yet.

MegBusset · 27/04/2014 09:09

We have an inset day in June so thinking of going, but would just be me plus two DC (5 and 7). Would this be a nightmare in terms of getting on rides?

Rowgtfc72 · 27/04/2014 10:04

Kids over 1.3 metres don't need an adult.dd did them all herself! Under I think you need an adult.

wellthatsdoneit · 27/04/2014 22:02

Both of mine are under 1.3, but just let the ride attendant know you want to do 'parent swap' - one child will wait with the attendant, and then swap over (no need to queue again). Means the parent gets/has to go twice which might be a good or bad thing depending on your persuasion!

MegBusset · 27/04/2014 22:39

Hmm. Not sure either of mine would be happy about waiting with an attendant! Maybe I can rope in someone to come with us...

Igggi · 28/04/2014 12:18

Is there any way to find out when inset days in England are (from threads on here I gather they are not uniform!) visiting first week in July so not holiday time, but knowing my luck will be inset time (or school trip time)

Imnotweirdimlimitededition1 · 30/04/2014 22:20

Ok so I'm travelling from Ireland to stay with relatives in Epping then coming to LL for a one night stay. What public transport would be best to get there? Is lunchtime too late to arrive ? Would we be best to use pool etc & leave park until day 2? We are staying in LL hotel so will get the most of second day TIA

HRHQueenMe · 03/05/2014 21:59

Just back from the Legoland Star Wars day, superbly done much improved on last year! More charachters, more activities and all the ladies and gents from the Garrison deserve much praise for their patience with the kids!
If you can go tomorrow, enjoy! And dont forget to dress up!:)

Marking place. Just booked premier inn over May half term. DS1 is Lego obsessed so will be super excited when we tell him in the morning!
Have to buy tickets on door as using Kellogg's voucher and nectar points so no buying online. Hopefully won't be queuing forever.

moojie · 06/05/2014 11:01

We are regular legolanders and usually take a picnic. In march we visited and stupidly ate in the duplo family restaurant which was ridiculously expensive. I visited again last week and we ate at the new burger kitchen. The food was LOVELY and really well priced. 3 meals including burgers, chips and drinks (1 adult and 2 kids) came to just under £14 with an annual pass discount.

I will definitely be eating there again and saving the picnic for the journey home!

workmumwork · 07/05/2014 13:01

Just want to say a big thank you to all the contributors on this thread and the 2013 one, trawled all the info before I took my 6 year old son for his first visit to LEGOLAND (and mine in the UK) on an inset day.

We had a fantastic day - used the Kelloggs voucher for me to get in free, and followed the advice on heading towards the "busiest" rides first - managed to do Atlantis, the Boat School (twice, we just stayed on!), the Driving School and a couple of others before the Pirate show at lunchtime. Don't think I ever want to go at a weekend/school holidays, it was such a great day - will wait for another inset day in a couple of years to take my younger one as well when he's nearly 4.

Thanks again, really appreciate all the tips and loved the scenic drive by turning right out of LEGOLAND at the end. We were heading back to the M40 so followed signs for Beaconsfield and had tea at Wetherspoons at Beaconsfield services which was probably cheaper than inside LEGOLAND and a lot easier to get back to the M40 than getting stuck at junction 4 coming back on.
