I am starting this thread in response to my DD's not receiving an offer from Oxford yesterday. She is disappointed, but hasn't taken it too badly, so that could be worse I suppose. Trouble is she gave so little thought to other universities, and her UCAS application was so specific to the course at Oxford we are a little bit worried that she might not even get other offers. Her second choice would be Durham but the course there is very very different to the one at Oxford, so we could imagine them reading her personal statement and rejecting her out of hand!

Did she not submit a separate PS to Durham as they are one of the ones that allow it?

She was lucky (and obv not doing such a competitive course) to have had all her other offers in by Christmas. Prob Durham, possibly Edinburgh. Durham actually ranked top/or near the top for her subject in all the tables and she hopes she'll get a good degree with a lot less stress.

Great offers. I know lots of mums with children at Durham-all loving it there.
We used to live near Edinburgh and loved it there. Both great unis and fab cities.

Congrats for the Warwick maths offers!
We are also waiting to hear from Imperial for maths, but I don’t think they offered until about March last year.

Yes, I feel so relieved that they have one offer at long last. 🤞for our DCs for Imperial. We are also waiting on UCL and LSE.

Yes, I remember now our DCs have picked 4 of the same unis for Maths. Is your DCs first choice now ICL? I thought UCL would send out offers/rejections early as they don’t ask for the TMUA.

She didn’t apply to Warwick in the end, so I think ICL, UCL, Oxford the same and two different :)
I think UCL are normally quite late for home students for maths.
I think she’ll firm ICL if she gets an offer, but she really likes UCL too.

TMUA results today…

Good luck to your DC and all other DC getting results today 🍀🍀.

Nuffalready · 11/02/2026 09:54

@AprilMay75 Thanks! Will be useful mostly for managing expectations of a CompSci Warwick offer/ or not! DS has a good offer from Birmingham & awaiting Durham, StA’s… the waiting seems endless…

AprilMay75 · 11/02/2026 10:09

Indeed, the waiting is endless!
DC waiting on Imperial, LSE and UCL.
Got the TMUA out of the way in October…thought DC would hear sooner but now realise that some wait until after the second sitting results-which makes sense.

AprilMay75 · 11/02/2026 16:59

I hope DC waiting on TMUA results now have them and are pleased.
My DC just got another off, UCL 🙂.
They are still keeping everything crossed for Imperial.

Nuffalready · 11/02/2026 18:12

Not a great TMUA score for my DS today, he tells me he’s OK but might be a bit of a reality check in terms of a Warwick offer.

I know Warwick offer with low a TMUA. Last year DC’s friend got an offer with a 3.5 score.

bettyjane · 11/02/2026 20:23

sorry to those who didn’t get the TMUA scores they hoped.
Well done on the UCL maths offers! I don’t think my DC has heard anything yet.

Nuffalready · 12/02/2026 00:21

@AprilMay75 Thanks for that info! He did get a higher score than that and seems to be taking in his stride anyway. He’s got offer holders day at Birmingham coming up in a few weeks, and a half term mini-break with his mates to look forward to fill in the waiting time…think the stress is all mine!

AprilMay75 · 19/02/2026 10:21

Good morning.
It appears to continue to be very quiet from Imperial regarding offers, specifically Maths related offers. However, DC has heard of lots of LSE offers coming though for various subjects. Just wondering if anyone on this thread has heard got a LSE offer/rejection for a Maths/Maths and something course.

bettyjane · 19/02/2026 11:59

Nothing from Imperial maths here still either, DC did get a UCL offer this week though! She didn’t apply to LSE so not sure where they are at with offers.

Congrats to your DC on their UCL offer. My DC also got a Maths UCL offer a couple of weeks ago.

bettyjane · 19/02/2026 13:23

Yes I saw a few on here a week or so earlier which is always a bit nerve wracking! Luckily she didn’t have to wait too long!

Wondering whether anyone’s DC on this thread requested the feedback re their Oxbridge rejection? And if they did what it looked like?

My DC did from Cambridge - got a very generic letter. The only bespoke bit was a score of out 10 for his interviews vs the average score of those who got an offer. No commentary on why he got that score and no feedback on the scoring given for his GCSEs / predicted grades / personal statement / written work etc.

Not sure whether to take this as meaning that he was comparable with offerees on the other factors and it was the interview was where he fell short - or just simply that this is the only factor they provide scores on and not to draw any conclusions about his performance on the other factors.

Cambridge makes a big deal about the holistic assessment process so it’s a bit odd IMO that the only bit of feedback they have given is an interview score.

DC is keeping an open mind about reapplying if he gets 3A stars (probably won’t tbh but hasn’t closed the door). This feedback doesn’t really help him decide whether it would be worth a shot in that scenario.
