Support thread for aspiring medics.

We want all our DCs to succeed, whatever their school type. We share knowledge to help them to achieve their goals, celebrate success and support if things don't go well.

As we press the "send and pay" buttons on UCAS, we wish all our DC the best of luck in this tough year with so much uncertainty.

Has anyone heard from Leeds? It’s DS’s favourite…

He came home today with a tale of a classmate who got rejected from Edinburgh and dundee, appealed Glasgow, but got an Oxford interview.

I said ‘oooh there’s some one on mumsnet like that’.

Yup. Same person. Their school has been terrible at advising them. I have never been so grateful for this thread!

Lovely to hear everyone's news. 😊. Well done to your kids. Several of mine doing the Cambridge BMAT resit tomorrow- am v impressed they have offered this. Just hoping there are no IT issues !

Last year because it was a Cambridge devised test offered to those that resat it was more akin to the NSAA rather than BMAT. It may be worth mentioning this so they aren't put off if it is the same this year.

@sydenhamhiller - I don't think anyone has heard from Leeds yet and I think there's at least another week before we will. DD seems very keen as well. Not entirely sure why given that she's never been to Leeds 😂

Well done all those with interviews!

Still nothing here (Barts, Birm., Bristol, Newcastle) but a very encouraging result in her Chemistry mock.

DD has spent the day negotiating a change of date for a major hockey match that was scheduled the night before her Biology mock next week.

But at least you know with her UCAT score (which I think was v good?) she'll almost certainly get a Newcastle interview now that they've revealed their hand by the first few invites.

DD got an interview invite for Manchester today too. It's 2nd time round for her as she got just 1 interview last year and no offer. So withdrew from the process to try again this year with different set of unis.

Manchester generally makes offers to 2/3 of applicants, about the same as Sheffield and Newcastle, but this year who knows!

Nottingham invite here. My DC has been really lucky and got 4 interviews from their choices.
