Just wanted to wish all applicants very good luck with Oxford offers tomorrow and for Cambridge further ahead (25th?)
I've been reading this thread with great interest and sympathy having been in a similar position - DS was an Oxbridge re-applicant having received his A level results in 2019. He was rejected by Oxford after interview and decided to reapply to Cambridge and is now in his first year - albeit not quite the start he had envisaged, but despite that enjoying it all.
I remember he received an email at about 9.30am from his Cambridge college and a follow up letter the next day I think.
For what it's worth, he had a really terrible first interview and was not expecting an offer at all - so don't lose heart anyone!
And for a different perspective altogether, my DD was also rejected by Oxford a few years before but she decided to take up her offer at Durham and had the most fantastic experience there - she loved it and says she was really glad that she didn't pursue a second Oxbridge application. She's currently waiting to start a training contract in London this summer, fingers crossed she might be able to do it in person rather than face to face.
I feel very much for all young people right now - whichever way you look at it I think it's been very tough for them. Whether they are in the current A level cohort, first years at university or those going to graduate this summer - and of course not forgetting last year's young people who had to leave university in such a rush with no graduation and also no opportunity to sit their A levels. So very sad for them all.
But looking ahead, I am sure that whatever these offers bring your children will be happy wherever they end up. The very fact that they are in a position to apply is fantastic!
