DS got a UCL offer today for a 4-year programme with international placement year. So that’s something. Also, they have given him a reduced offer for some reason (he wouldn’t be eligible for a contextual). It should be A*AA, but they offered AAA. So maybe they are lowering offers this year due to Covid disruption?

OnTheBench he’s very independent and introverted, we talk but I think it’s fair to say on his terms. We just about managed to get out of him where he’d applied, and he did some explaining (really around why he’d applied for natural sciences although his main interest is physics). But that’s as far as it goes. Maybe would have been different had we been ferrying him to open days?

That's brilliant for your ds @quest1on UCL is my dd's 1st choice and has applied for a course with a placement year but not heard anything yet! She wasn't expecting to hear from them until January so am now wondering if they are starting to make earlier offers. if you're happy to say, what course has he applied for? Don't worry if you're not keen to say though.

My dd has received an offer from UCL for biochemistry today but not a reduced offer, it’s AAA. We were hoping she’d get a contextual offer as she did for Warwick, although when we looked it up, it said she wasn’t eligible for one.

@pourmeanotherglass, congratulations and well done to your DD. I there are a couple or so more waiting, hoping it’s the news you want.
@quest1on, congratulations to your DS, that’s really good. Funny, the only offer DS has so far is from Nottingham and that was reduced too.

@Majaso12, well done to your DD. Does she prefer UCL to Warwick?

They have given out some History as well apparently today, also Biochem. That’s just what he knows if from school. I’m sure you’ll hear soon. The uni is massive.

Yay - He got an interview - the email sent on the 26th could have saved me him so much stress! Just had parents evening and his computer science teacher said she'd help with a mock interview which was kind of her.

@SATSmadness we're still waiting for Engineering Science. They are trickling through now on the spreadsheet of doom, and I see there is already one rejection from his chosen college. Knowing him he might not have checked his emails today. I'll remind him after tea

DS2 has an interview!

He heard at 9 this morning, but has kept it quiet all day to tell me in person.

Warm Yes she prefers UCL. Warwick or Bath would be her insurance. She’s waiting to hear from Imperial and has an interview at Oxford.

In TSR I read someone has received an offer from Cambridge without an interview............ thought someone was telling porkies until I read that a similar comment in Twitter. Unless it's the same person

Some Cambridge colleges are way behind. Plenty of applicants have not heard anything.

DS1 was redirected at this stage 5 years ago. He had an amazing time at the uni he did go to, and is now studying for a PhD there, and living with his partner he met while at uni. Good luck to all our DC going forward!
