@SATSmadness, I thought medicine is the only course where overseas numbers are capped. Not sure!! I agree with your post, though.

@Baaaahhhhh, lol at the unfortunate placements of the puddings. That would make her memorable.

DS’s 2 interviews are tomorrow, he must be getting anxious, he’s been in my room chatting with me since I got in from work Shock Smile. I’ll be at work nervously checking my phone for feedback, DH on standby and will be keeping DD well out of the way, she is on virtual learning due to a big outbreak of covid in her school.

It’s making it even more real to read about everyone’s experiences.

Dds interview about to start although she has been given a piece of work to go over 30 mins before, I am actually more nervous than her I think 😬

We've filled up another thread!

Here is the next one - slightly updated title, I hope you don't mind.

@NiamCinnOir your poor DD! That did make me laugh though- classic anxiety dream, I've had a few of those this week myself despite (thank goodness) NOT being the person who has to sit an interview!

@pepperaunt DS is the same, 2 interviews, NatSci camb.

In fact he's in his first interview now, upstairs with DH standing by for tech support. I am sequestered in the sitting room with our three dogs with the aim of keeping them quiet and keeping a lookout for any delivery drivers who may approach! The two are of course interlinked. On here to take my mind off what's going on.

Good luck to all the DC with interviews this week! DD has 2 interviews today. She’s very nervous! I’m trying to throw myself into work today as a distraction, but it’s not working

@IrmaFayLear

Just repeat this mantra "TSR is the plaything of trolls" several times.

DD laughs at The Student Room. There do seem to be a lot of overseas candidates posting on there and their chances are less despite their fantastic grades/achievements.

I saw one posting about how to get classified as a Home applicant as they believed this greatly increased their chances, oh and cut the cost of tuition by 85%.

Another one joining the sweaty gang...

I wonder how they moderate between candidates at different colleges doing one interview and some doing two? Or if one person has had to do battle with a source and someone else didn’t have to do that? Or is it subject dependent? I’m jumping ahead to pooling - I think dd is a credible candidate but I saw a “rival” on the student room and that’s put the wind up me as they had 44 grade 9s, had won 15 competitions, couple of Nobel prizes etc etc....

@Beetlesand, @par05 DD also has back-to-back interviews! This whole process is particularly confusing us as we went to university in the US - it’s all so different.

Thank you @Tenpastseven was fretting about that! Funny what Little things we worry about, good luck to everyone today, @pepper dd has 2 25/30 min interviews one after the other today for english lit, with cambridge.

Is mine the only really really really laid back candidate???? He will wear his hoody, he might tidy his room, he's sure he can use the tech. he'll maybe watch an interview on youtube at sometime. The only thing he is insisting on is that I keep the cat out of the room and stop him scratching the door :)

To be honest, we were not expecting to get this far and it is so unlikely he'll get through. He's never visited Cambridge and I'm not convinced that he won't have a better time at Manchester!

DD's is today too. She's just got one interview fortunately but I am so nervous for her! Good luck for everyone today and well done to those already through it!

@pepperaunt ...Dd has two 20-25 mins interviews with Cambridge too. They are one after the other on Thursday with 5 mins inbetween. I am (of course!) fretting about timing.

@Baaaahhhhh

History Oxford just the one interview this week, but they may be called back for another next week. They will let us know on Monday.

So exciting to read about all the interview experiences. DD school did a run through of the tech yesterday, and will have IT standing by too. So supportive. Amazing. It's Xmas jumper day on the day if DD's interview, needless to say she will take hers off for the interview, two puddings in unfortunate places will not be a good look 😂

I don't know Baaaahhhh - a Christmas jumper might be just the thing to make your interview stand out! Grin

Morning all. @par05, I wouldn’t imagine that matters other than making sure she is clearly visible in front of the background?

How absolutely lovely of your DS’s tutor @Crikeyblimey!

Quick question, dd is not sure where to do her interview? In bedroom or downstairs? We do not have a office or anything, and she has posters and pictures in her room, sorry to sound doh but would a plain background be better? She has 2 interviews tomorrow one after the other. TIA

DD only has one interview this week too - this is for History. She's busy speed reading the books she made reference to on her personal statement. After the initial euphoria, of getting an interview she's now getting cold feet about Oxford again....

Yep - menopausal sleepless night for me too! DS has his 2 interviews pretty much one after the other tomorrow. 9am read song for a 9:30 interview then a 10:30 reading for 11 an interview.

He’s doing them from home and seems to think he will make it into college for his lesson at 12! I suspect he will just collapse in a heap and need covering up and singing to!

Thankfully rugby training is back on tomorrow evening cos he really thinks ‘running about in the cold and dark’ is just what he will need after the day he’s likely to have had! 🤣

His tutor rang him at 9pm to wish him well and have a short pep talk, so that was nice.

We are now just ‘not mentioning it’ and trying to have some kind of regular evening.
