That’s a long time to wait if the universities know already!

Congratulations to your DS tudorbuff my elder DD has just started her training contract as a corporate lawyer so understand how challenging the law route is.

oneteen I can't imagine how frustrated you and your DD must feel with the unnecessary delays. It's good to hear that it has not effected her grades.

thesunwillout · 23/11/2019 14:22

Oh oneteen, feel for you and your DD.
Fingers crossed for next week x
Still not sent here either, but DD has been off college, the dreaded depression has returned and she's not well at all.
All this potential ☹️

oneteen · 23/11/2019 14:29

@thesunwillout...sorry to hear your DD is off school, hope her health improves very soon...

MillicentMartha · 23/11/2019 15:16

thesun sorry to hear that. Trying to keep the pressure off when there’s a deadline must be tricky. So long at college is sympathetic she has until 15th January in reality for the first round, and there’s always the possibility of a gap year to recharge.

Thankyou oneteen and MillicentMartha.
Way back at the start of this thread I mentioned her years of struggles with depression etc, I didn't know this was going to happen.
We've found a counsellor, we need to be vigilant. If she doesn't get the a levels then we'll have to think what else to do.
Retake yr 13, or something. Makes me so angry at the reason, her father s legacy.
But she got this far, fingers crossed she'll get there again.

SukiPutTheEarlGreyOn · 24/11/2019 23:16

Thinking of you and your dd, thesunwillout. This is such a pressurised time for our dc and their wellbeing is so much more important than anything else. Schools can sometimes have a tendency to push the idea that there’s a tram lines, linear direction to get where they want to go which can add to the stress. Yet the reality is there are many different ways to get there and to fulfill their potential. Sending you both all good wishes as you navigate this. Flowers

thesunwillout · 24/11/2019 23:20

Hi that's kind, thankyou for your post.
She's at a large college, and they've been good so far, loves her subjects and lecturers.
Just got too much, anxiety, old trauma, bit of bullying thrown in.
Trying to be proactive on this.
Has a mock this week, hopefully she'll at least get in to take it.
Xx

Serin · 25/11/2019 13:48

thesun
Bullying Sad. Disgraceful isnt it.
Are the college aware that this is a factor?

aibutohavethisusername · 25/11/2019 14:40

Are anyone’s DC still waiting to hear anything from UCL? DD has applied for History.

Sostenueto · 25/11/2019 16:31

Waiting for KCL and Bristol which could be a long wait! (7 weeks so far)

Sostenueto · 25/11/2019 16:33

That's for neuroscience with psychology one a MSc other a Bsc.

Looks like there have been some offers for history, but they might have been early applicants.

thesunwillout · 25/11/2019 20:33

@Serin
Yes they've been informed but DD too scared for them to go further.

HuaShan · 26/11/2019 06:33

the sunwillout thinking of you and your dd, it must be so difficult. But as a pp said, paths in life are often not linear.

DS delighted with a slightly lower than standard offer from Bath for Maths late last night.

thesunwillout · 26/11/2019 07:31

Huashan, thankyou, and that's great news, is it Bath or Bath Spa

HuaShan · 26/11/2019 07:50

It's Bath. DS took the MAT test and I'm hoping the offer reflects a decent score in that. Waiting on Imperial now.

tudorbuff · 26/11/2019 08:03

My son got an offer from Exeter yesterday, one grade lower if he firms them (still AAB). Delighted as that is where I went! For him, this is a difficult offer to refuse as he is worried about getting the grades.

oneteen · 26/11/2019 08:50

Well done to the DC on their offers ...still another day another delay with DD's application ...how long does it take to change literally two/three words on a reference?

thesunwillout · 26/11/2019 09:51

@ oneteen, I feel we should crack open the virtual vino when our dd's applications get sent !

MillicentMartha · 26/11/2019 10:09

She'll have to start hassling them some more, oneteen. Must be hard to stop yourself jumping in and taking over!

HuaShan fingers crossed for some good news from your DS's other choices.

tudor I hate these 'lower if you firm' offers. Seems like a bribe. I'd be tempted to use them as insurance anyway and hope they'd accept AAB in August. Do you know if they were in clearing last year for his subject? I know they were accepting ACC for maths in clearing for instance.

OP posts:
Hoghgyni · 26/11/2019 10:24

Millicent on the other hand, those offers do take the pressure off. DD's was undecided between Warwick & Durham when her form went in and they both usually offer A*AA. Warwick gave her their standard offer whilst Durham dropped it to ABB if firm or AAA if insurance. I don't think she will bother with the Warwick offer holder day now.

MillicentMartha · 26/11/2019 10:30

I guess if it's your favourite anyway, but if it was initially a potential insurance, then it's no longer very attractive as an insurance. In your DD's case they dropped the offer even if firm.

OP posts:
Hoghgyni · 26/11/2019 11:06

She was torn between the two as the courses were very different for the same subject. I think she thinks that AAA is too high for an insurance and they won't to drop any further as her subject doesn't go into clearing.

oneteen · 26/11/2019 11:31

It's gone this morning Smile
