DS1 has an offer from Manchester. 24 hours after his interview. It's offer no 2 so at least he has a choice now.

aibutohavethisusername · 01/11/2019 16:19

sandybayley great news.

MillicentMartha · 01/11/2019 17:22

aibu that sounds tempting!
Good news, sandy.

DD not sent off her UCAS yet but 2 classmates have had unconditional offers. One for law, one for psychology, Bristol and Worcester.
Just a bit of info.

KingscoteStaff · 01/11/2019 23:19

That’s great sandy.

Do you think she’d take that aibu? Bird in the hand and all that?

oneteen · 02/11/2019 08:40

Well done to all the DC with offers ...hopefully DD's application will go off early next week...she starts working as a Christmas ELF today earning a few more pennies..

aibutohavethisusername · 02/11/2019 09:54

KingscoteStaff she’ll go to the interview and see, her first choice isn’t Queen Mary though.

MillicentMartha · 04/11/2019 17:03

It’s all gone quiet here. Not heard anything for a week since getting acknowledgements except for a postcard from Southampton saying the same as the email, ‘we’ve got your application, thanks and you’ll be hearing from us in due course.’

I know it’s early days but I’m impatient!

Nothing happening here either! DS1 has his interview at Imperial on Wednesday. He's back at school today after 2 weeks off for half term and found it very difficult to leave his pit this morning.

I'm very pleased not to have 3 teenagers on my house all day as the food consumption levels had tipped into ridiculous.

Hoghgyni · 04/11/2019 17:27

It's the lull before the storm. Nothing is going to happen here now for another 2 -4 weeks as all possible offers have arrived. Time to think about other things like coursework & EPQs.

aibutohavethisusername · 04/11/2019 17:36

Nothing else happening here. Waiting for UCL now. DD had an interview prep day at Oxford on Friday which she found useful.

Hoghgyni · 04/11/2019 18:15

DD went along too. She thought it was worth the very long day, just in case she has encouraging news later in the month.

aibutohavethisusername · 04/11/2019 18:23

Hoghgni was that at Corpus Christi college?

Hoghgyni · 04/11/2019 18:40

That's the one. They had a tutor they had met before rather than school liaison staff working with her group & they had all been on UNIQ together earlier in the year, so she had a good time catching up with them again.

aibutohavethisusername · 04/11/2019 19:42

That’s good that they knew each other.

mimbleandlittlemy · 04/11/2019 20:47

Been lurking. DS sent the application off to UCAS on Thursday evening last week and got the standard offer from Cardiff for his course this evening (very niche, too outing to say), so he is going somewhere after his gap year. It is his least favourite choice so now waiting on his top four with crossed fingers.

aibutohavethisusername · 04/11/2019 21:08

Welcome mimbleandlittlemy well done to your DS for his first offer.

MillicentMartha · 04/11/2019 22:00

I spoke too soon. Still no offers but DS has an interview at Manchester in Dec. Grin We have learnt not to rely on emails and he will be checking Track a bit more often. Blush

That was quick, mimble. Cardiff is DS’s 5th choice but nothing bar an acknowledgement as yet.

Manchester is top choice for DS but he would be thrilled with offers from Newcastle or Birmingham and wouldn’t sneeze at Warwick. I do so hope for him he gets an offer from one of those and hopefully with a reduction in their standard course offer but we will have to wait and see. I am trying to keep it all low key as he has mocks coming up in 3 weeks and those are taking up all the emotional baggage at the mo.

Pepermintea · 04/11/2019 22:26

DS got an offer today from Warwick. It's one of his favourites - so good news!

Well done on the other offers and interviews!

aibutohavethisusername · 04/11/2019 22:39

Great news Pepermintea

TerfinUSA99 · 04/11/2019 23:05

@Pepermintea well done on Warwick offer! DS also picked Warwick but heard nothing yet (PPE)

Anyone else doing Edexel History with coursework essay? DS did Crusades but is really wishing he'd done Cold War! Thankfully essay was handed in on Friday after me spending a very late night proof-reading it Grin He's so organised and well-prepared except when it comes to anything that needs another person's input!! One day I will get a question about Saladin in a pub quiz and this will have been so worth it GrinGrin

mimbleandlittlemy · 04/11/2019 23:11

DS doing AQA History and did his course work essay on Margaret Thatcher. That is not history. That’s my 20s.

MillicentMartha · 04/11/2019 23:26

Good news pepermint we love Warwick, though DS hasn’t chosen it mainly because DS1 went there!

I was 14 in 1979, and I can even remember when Thatcher was the milk snatcher when I was in primary school.

Just going to recommend the TrainPal app. It’s a ticket splitting website that’s just saved me lots of money for DS’s train tickets to Manchester. (Other ticket splitting apps are available.) Also the 16-17 railcard is handy with 50% off. It expires on DS’s birthday in the summer but has already paid for itself.

Still snail pace here in terms of submitting DD's UCAS application...at least the HOS was in school today and actually made contact with DD ...still not holding my breath that application will go off this week...(I'm thankful deadline is in January).
