Previous thread and hope you don't mind that I set up the next thread @juicy0. Just did it to ensure that we carry on chatting seamlessly Wink

@sluj I just went to page one of this post by mistake and saw the post about your DS loosing his backpack, now that seems like a long time ago and made me feel rather sad to think about how our worries have changed 😢
Anyway don’t want to be sad.
Someone sent me this, it makes me glad my children are older, thought it was very funny 😊

sluj · 21/03/2020 11:30

😂

icanbewhatiwant · 21/03/2020 11:36

Ds seems to think he has exams to do yet. Not sure how they will do those from home. He's doing biology.

Itscoldouthere · 21/03/2020 12:12

DS has been home since Tuesday, I’ve not witnessed any Home study yet, think I’ll have to get him on track next week, I think he thinks he’s on holiday !

PBLR · 21/03/2020 12:27

Thanks for the welcome everyone

sluj · 21/03/2020 12:39

Both DSes are due back from UEA in a couple of hours. Is it wrong to be more excited about what food and toiletries they are bringing back than seeing my 2 boys?? Especially as I haven't seen one since January 3rd Blush

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 21/03/2020 12:58

DS has had to do an assignment something he completed yesterday and some SPSS work. I think he thinks that's it for the year though. I do hope not!

@sluj hopefully all sorts of essential goodies. Did you ever think you'd get excited at loo rolls and tins coming back home!

OP posts:
icanbewhatiwant · 22/03/2020 06:04

Yes what is it with toilet rolls? A friend turned up on my birthday with 2 packs as we were getting low. She said "happy birthday" as she presented me with them 🤣 I'm glad she did as still none anywhere.

I forgot to say ds tried to ignore the pup for a while. But he likes her really. She's quite nervous when people come in the house. She's missed out on puppy socialisation classes and not had second vaccine due to her upset tummy. So she's not been out. I did carry her to school a few times, but can't do that now. If people visit (not many with the current situation) she runs and hides. Interestingly she ran up to ds when he arrived and jumped all over him. He must smell of us or she could smell him in the house.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 22/03/2020 09:02

Teenage boys are real softies underneath all their bluff. Glad to hear that your DS1 has warmed to the puppy (and hoping they sort out her tummy issues - any news/progress?). When DS comes home the first thing he does is greet the cats (they're heading on for two now) in a special voice he has for them!

@NewModelArmyMayhem18 pup is getting better thankfully. She had her vaccinations and was wormed then 3 days later all this started. So I'm a little concerned it was one of those that set it off. But the breeder used the same wormer. So maybe wasn't that. We have to start the wormer again tomorrow for 5 days. Then if she's still fine she can have her vaccines Friday. I'm looking forward to being able to walk her. We can't do much else apart from walk at the moment! The other dog is getting several walks a day to get us out. I need to force the boys out too. Ds1 will come on a walk. But the younger 2 refuse.
Ds3 is moaning of boredom already so I need to make him walk.

Just received the following message from the uea regarding my question about next terms fees.

Thank you for your email. There will be an official statement from the University of East Anglia addressing these concerns in regards to terminating contracts early and clarifying on the issue of outstanding Accommodation payments soon, which will be emailed to your UEA email address. Should this upcoming email leave any questions unanswered, please do contact us in regards to Accommodation issues, or the UEA Finances Office for payment-specific queries.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 23/03/2020 14:34

Thanks for the update @juicy0. It gives nothing away at this stage though, does it?

We have just got back from emptying ds's room. I'd forgotten how much stuff there was. I almost sent him in his car alone. Glad we both went as he did 4 trips down the lift to the car and I did 3. I wore a mask in the lift...don't want to take chances.

What have you all done with the keys? I wondered whether we should drop them off somewhere. But brought them home.

juicy0 · 23/03/2020 15:00

@newmodelarmy no it's very vague but at least it's on their radar. We have to start paying next years private accommodation in July and DD has lost her summer income as she worked at a wedding venue so a waiver on halls fees for next term would really take the pressure off.
However I am aware that we did sign a contract so I don't have high hopes!

@newmodelarmy we haven't actually emptied DD room yet. She's still hopeful that she may be able to return after Easter although I think that's extremely unlikely. I should imagine you will be able to return keys by post or courier if you are not nearby. Hopefully uea won't take too long to decide on their policy ........

juicy0 · 23/03/2020 15:01

Sorry @icanbewhatiwant the first para was in reply to you and I have no idea why it's bold 🤷‍♀️

NotSorry · 23/03/2020 15:08

Thanks juicy0

juicy0 · 23/03/2020 15:15

Of course if we haven't already emptied rooms
And then we get put on lockdown tonight I guess there won't be an option. Maybe that's what UEA are hoping for?

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 23/03/2020 16:22

@juicy0 that would be very unfair. As I just said on t'other thread, we are a car-free family, so it's not really been feasible or responsible to do a journey over the past few days on public transport.

Well done to you and our DS @icanbewhatiwant

OP posts:
icanbewhatiwant · 23/03/2020 16:30

Yes the threat of lockdown is exactly why we shot off there today. We are fortunate to be in the position to go as only an hour away.

It was very quiet around the university. A few cars were being packed. We only saw a few students walking about. But it is Easter holiday now anyway. It was weird packing everything up early knowing we wouldn't be returning. Well...I won't anyway. Obviously ds will go back but not to halls.

icanbewhatiwant · 23/03/2020 17:12

Is there another good thread? I gave up on the others a while back.

juicy0 · 23/03/2020 17:37

The email has landed and it's not good news!

Ignore the first pic, that was a screenshot of a piece of medical advice I'd saved 🙈

juicy0 · 23/03/2020 17:57

Hold fire, there is talk amongst DDs friends of another email offering the option to terminate the contract. I'll post a copy when she gets it.

icanbewhatiwant · 23/03/2020 19:18

@juicy0 thanks for that. I wish ds had read that before we went today. I might email to ask if we can post them back.

icanbewhatiwant · 23/03/2020 20:12

Ds has had a message from UEA. Looks like if he fills in certain forms...he won't have to pay accommodation fees next term.
