Today is a big day for many... time for a new thread too

OP posts:

I thought I had read somewhere that parity had not only been reached that indeed there were more female placeholders. Off to find what I was reading!

ShalomJackie · 13/01/2019 19:15

Sorry just Oxford

School photos of offer holders!!

Blimey. I'm pretty sure DD's school had the sense not to publicly name anyone until their places were actually secured. I think they were also quite good at managing expectations of Oxbridge and med/vet applicants, many of whom (though not DD as she'd had a mixed bag of GCSEs) had never experienced academic disappointment up till then. It was along the lines of do have a shot at applying (the only sure way to not get a place is to not apply) but also something like 'this process might break you... but we'll put you together again'.

Hubbleisback · 13/01/2019 19:39

Good luck to all those waiting for news tomorrow.
For tonight long hot baths, hot chocolate, cosy PJs and a favourite film/box set. That's for the mums obviously. Brew

LoniceraJaponica · 13/01/2019 19:52

School photos of offer holders!!

At DD's school so few students go to Oxbridge that they do photos of offer holders. They had 4 go one year - the most ever.

Couchpotato3 · 13/01/2019 21:26

Good luck to all those waiting for news from Cambridge tomorrow. My DS didn't get a letter or email on the day, and was going bananas, so he walked out of school and rang the college mid-afternoon!

DrMadelineMaxwell · 13/01/2019 22:12

So few pupils in the local schools here go to Oxbridge that if (after results day) they have a place, they get their pictures in the local paper!

DD would die rather than that and hid from the headteacher when it was GCSE results day to avoid her pic in the school newsletter and the local paper for having all As and A*s for her results.

TheFrendo · 13/01/2019 22:31

Waiting for tomorrow (maths).

Son playing on his blinking computer rather than working for his mocks which start tomorrow.

If he gets an offer I hope he has a 'this shit has just got real' feeling and actually does work.

Best of luck all.

AMilkyBrew · 13/01/2019 22:46

Another one waiting for tomorrow. DD also has mocks this week.
I had a mental block this morning and realised that I had forgotten which college DD applied to Blush

Good luck to all waiting x

Spagyetti · 13/01/2019 23:03

Lost a little respect for this thread at Perhaps you ought to consider a little extra study yourself; to master the English language.. Not nice at all.

Also awaiting tomorrow!

LoniceraJaponica · 13/01/2019 23:08

Good luck to everyone's DC

cinnamontoast · 13/01/2019 23:22

eingev, my DD has an offer from St John's and, trust me, she is not posh. The college is making serious efforts to encourage state-school pupils, which is one of the reasons she chose it, and she found it very friendly - although her interviewers were, apparently, very posh indeed. Well done to your DS for getting a place there. My DD is over the moon and simply cannot wait to get started.

Jano69 · 13/01/2019 23:23

Sleep well everyone and, of course, best of luck for tomorrow.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 14/01/2019 00:34

History here for dd. A very competitive subject so even lower % chance of getting in.
Ahh well...it's already been decided and she's just waiting for the outcome. No point worrying or losing sleep.
Good luck to all those waiting to hear tomorrow.

Lililili · 14/01/2019 05:27

Well I’m up! Not been much sleep here with me, but I hope DD has. Good luck to all those with mocks today. That must be tough!
DrM same thing here with not many applying or getting in and DD has ducked the cameras on results days.

Justanothermile · 14/01/2019 06:07

Good luck to those waiting for news today. Hoping here that it's good news for you all.

Jano69 · 14/01/2019 06:58

History here too.... big day for us all!!

Decorhate · 14/01/2019 07:01

I don’t have a dc applying to Oxbridge this year but two pupils where I work applied to Cambridge so am anxious for them.

Lililili · 14/01/2019 07:21

Decorhate that’s lovely to hear - good luck to them too

WorriedMutha · 14/01/2019 07:22

DD waiting to hear for English today. I think any disappointment would be fleeting as she has four good offers. We would just start booking offers day and transfer our excitement elsewhere. It's a big wide world.

Aurea · 14/01/2019 07:34

Good luck to all waiting for decisions. I hope they come early on too, the wait is unbearable.....

WorriedMutha · 14/01/2019 07:50

She's got an offer. She's happy but dad and I just letting it sink in as we do have our misgivings. Not sure what grades they're asking for as it says you will hear from UCAS and she hasn't had an email from them yet.

LIZS · 14/01/2019 07:53

Well done to her! Dd has left for school so won't look at email until she gets home.

Rianna · 14/01/2019 08:06

O wow , already known !congrats Worriedmut

Rianna · 14/01/2019 08:08
