Wow offers coming in thick and fast! Brilliant news swingofthings and somerset!! Lovely to hear all the good news! Good luck to those with interviews coming up too.

Feeling march is a long way off, hoping DD will hear sooner rather than later.

SomersetS · 29/01/2018 19:37

That's fab Swing! Manchester - great news.
Hang in there Watford the next few weeks will fly by!
So pleased to hear everyone's news. This thread is fab.

adrinkofwater · 29/01/2018 19:41

Congratulations Somerset and Swing!

No offer yet for DD from Leicester. She doesn't check tsr so doesn't know that some offers went out today, which is probably a good thing just before another interview. More waiting for us!

SomersetS · 29/01/2018 19:56

Good luck Adrinkofwater. Fingers crossed.
Hope it goes well. Daughter of a friend is Med student there and loves it. Great city apparently.

2B1Gmum · 30/01/2018 08:56

Great news Swing and SomersetS.

SomersetS I am sure it bodes well for HYMS, like you I thought they might have been in touch earlier but are clearly sticking to February - will it be this week or next - who knows? Weirdly school mate of DDs still saying she has a February interview at HYMS. DD seemed equally OK about HYMS and UEA at interview, she said HYMS were much more organised but UEA asked for loads more paperwork, certificates, ID, Passport, work ex. form. HYMS was her risky choice because their scoring favours high SJT both before and after interview and she had her worst score (all 1s in her mocks at home) and 3 on the day - that was unexpected and a worry for a few weeks. But here she is with two more interviews to go and whilst nervous also enjoying the process. If it is a no from HYMS I feel not hearing before UEA is a good thing. I believe they are similar sized courses, interview similar amounts and give out similar numbers of offers. Manchester is much bigger and it appears have changed the way they give offers, giving relatively quick offers to those who score particularly highly at interview (Swings DD!) and putting some on hold; I can see the logic but horrid for those on hold for a few more weeks. UEA don't give offers until early to mid March, literally just in time to book tickets for offer holders days! Fingers crossed for all for offers and good luck for those with future interviews, e.g. Liverpool and...? (Manchester of us still).

SomersetS · 30/01/2018 10:46

2B1G I too thought HYMS had finished but I guess the message throughout is "it's not over until August!" I'm guessing end of this week to hear from them.

V surprised to hear from Leicester yesterday as I know they still interviewing mid Feb & were VERY clear in their message - don't bother us until end of March - you won't hear. They must be doing similar to Manchester. Am guessing therefore DD had a good score. Who knows! Could just be high up the alphabet (surname B).

Yes think UEA similar size & set up to HYMS.

Good luck those who at I/views today. Sun finally out in Somerset so would be a good day for getting the best impression of a Uni.

sunflower1209 · 30/01/2018 11:55

adrinkofwater My DD has a Newcastle interview on Wednesday too!
What time are you?

shockthemonkey · 30/01/2018 19:04

Best of luck to everyone, this is certainly terribly nerve-wracking (and in my case it's not even my DC, just the DC of a very close friend).

Can anyone tell me, as I'm almost wetting myself, whether a call from Nottingham, just one week after an interview for vet med, is a good sign?

She missed the call and can hardly contain herself. Don't want to let her get too excited before she manages to call back but for me it sounds very positive.

Thanks if anyone can chip in about the phone calls!

Woodenhillmum · 30/01/2018 20:10

Dd received a call from one of her offers first working day following interview and it was an offer . I think they do this to high scoring applicants .This was medicine not vet school though

adrinkofwater · 31/01/2018 09:45

Sunflower, just seen your message. Interview at 9:30 , so right now! When is yours?

teta · 31/01/2018 10:35

Shickygemonkey a call normally means an offer !
But I’m sure you’ve heard by now.
The interview must have gone well.
2 or 3 of us vet applicants are posting on the other offer thread 2018.

teta · 31/01/2018 10:36

shockthemonkey !

shockthemonkey · 31/01/2018 14:12

Thanks teta!!!

Maddeningly, she hasn't been able to reach them and I have been calling them all day with no pick-up (they are apparently conducting more interviews today). But still, I have been crazy-excited and even more so now teta says it's probably good news.

Will go look at the other thread now :-)

SomersetS · 31/01/2018 17:42

Buckle your seatbelts HYMS have started giving out rejections per TSR. Think I feel a little bit sick. It's DDs fav. 🤢

2B1Gmum · 31/01/2018 18:09

OMG, can't bring myself to mention HYMS to DD, she is working on Geography and I am getting ready to go to a 50th birthday (midweek mad if you ask me but it won't be a late night). I am with you SomersetS - I just hope they don't stagger it over too many days. I now think DD's school friend doesn't actually have an interview at HYMS - all a bit weird though.

SomersetS · 31/01/2018 19:51

Looks like gone quiet on HYMS TSR. Quite a few rejections reported & 2 offers (grad?).
Most seem to have not heard. We haven't heard. I haven't told DD either.
Wait & see what tomorrow holds. 🙏🏽

2B1Gmum · 01/02/2018 13:45

I suspect HYMS news will be over a few days, all sorts of theories on TSR, York allocations first? Order of interview etc... but none proven. DD hasn't mentioned anything.

I also didn't ask whether friends DD had heard from Manchester, she had a January interview I think - she may have decided to keep quiet about an offer or she maybe on that holding list, which is tough. I am glad DD has hers later; and that we have a stop over to explore and find out more about the city - at the moment it is her least favourite - but as with Swings DD, it could all change. Main thing is to go into the interview keen and well prepared, which I am sure she will manage.

SomersetS · 01/02/2018 14:29

No HYMS news for us either.
We want Hull!
Agree, go into all interviews with open mind - DCs are changing their preferences everywhere. Good luck.

SomersetS · 01/02/2018 17:11

Loads of HYMS offers per TSR but nothing here Confused

specialted · 01/02/2018 17:21

somerset, must be awful waiting. I don't understand why they can't just release all the offers at once. Hopefully you'll hear before the weekend. Fingers crossed xx

2B1Gmum · 01/02/2018 17:59

Nothing here either, once again I haven't mentioned it to DD, she is clearly not one of those on tsr who have been checking every night for nearly three weeks! Somerset, let's hope for your DD that the rumour that Hull offers come towards the end is true.... mine has no preference, an offer is an offer from where ever so trying not to have any conversations until she gets one! Although I have to say I was quite annoyed with a parent I have known for years making a comment about what a horrid place Hull was - straight after I mentioned it being on DDs list. He didn't even bother to ask what she was applying for - what I said out loud in reply was quite different to what I was thinking!

SomersetS · 01/02/2018 18:04

Hull gets bad press but I have family there & we went to Open Day. Fabulous campus. Brand spanking new Medical building. City of Culture has given the city & university tremendous spirit, very friendly people & dirt cheap accommodation which was much nicer than most we viewed. What's not to like?!

Movingmountains · 01/02/2018 18:32

Good luck to everyone waiting on HYMS. My DS didn't like York so wish we had gone to Hull as think it would have good choice for him. They were so positive at open day but he didn't like the campus and decided the huge distance wasn't worth it.

specialted · 01/02/2018 18:51

I live in hull! (well just outside). We moved here from Cambridge 10 years ago and love it here. It's such a friendly city, and much better than the people think. Only reason DD didn't apply was that it too close to home. Oh and DH teaches HYMS students once a week and that would be just way too embarrassing!

adrinkofwater · 01/02/2018 20:10

sunflower hope your DD got on ok at Newcastle! We really liked it. DD felt the interview went "alright" but so hard to know. We may have seen you there! Was your interview morning or afternoon?
