DS1 has been gone 12 hours and I've not quizzed him on what he's eaten

I only know because I invented a meal tonight that was quick and easy so sent it over and got a recipe back with what they had cooked.

Loving the boys covered in glitter; few of them in Preston today. Fortunately not DS as his hyper sensitive skin has already kicked off when he got stamped going into a club.. even before he left later that night his had had become red and swollen .. so apparently now door staff remember him and stamp a bit of paper, he's going to wear a plaster on his hand so they can stamp that in stead ! He's always been the same anything perfumed or different and he reacts face paints were always a no in school shows. But it did mean he wasn't sparkly today.

rightsofwomen · 24/09/2017 22:02

Journey to Southampton was hideous! 6 hrs instead of 3. At one point we were stopped so long DS got his acoustic guitar out (he's taken 3 guitars and his amp) and we had a sing song!
Kept it together after leaving him for about a minute and then had to pull over and sob for a bit.
Stopped to see my sis on the way home (excellent plus point of DS being where he is) and resisted temptation to tell her to enjoy the time she has with her 3 daughter as they were actually being little buggers!

Late home and DS2 was staying over with grandparents so was alone.
Went in DSs room and saw he'd left my birthday present (on tues) there. Had another good old cry.

He's all settled in (according to 1.30am txt!)
Kept myself busy today by running a half marathon! Let's see how much my grocery bill goes down by!!

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 24/09/2017 22:19

Bloody hell rights

Where were you coming from

M3?

BlossomCat · 24/09/2017 22:24

Ooh, I've had a text! 'All unpacked. The lads in my flat seem nice'
It's not the scrolls of Abraham, but it will do for me!

Horsemad · 24/09/2017 22:27

rights, that's another pig of a journey by the sounds of things.

I remember we always used to hit congestion just as we neared Soton (usually a 4hr drive for us).

user327854831 · 24/09/2017 22:33

6 hours, that's a heck of a journey.

How are you and your DS2 now?

thatdearoctopus · 24/09/2017 22:38

Even though the M3 is usually bad on a Saturday from Winchester southwards, it was particularly bad yesterday as it was closed from J9-11 for many hours due to some sort of chemical incident. Nightmare for Uni students travelling, and also for football fans trying to get to the Soton/Man U game. Plus "normal" travellers.

I've been travelling that way most weekends this year, but fortunately didn't have to go this weekend

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 24/09/2017 22:46

that we left Winchester at about 4.15 today and drove down the M3

Traffic the other way was dreadful

Queued for miles

RedHelenB · 24/09/2017 23:08

I can imagine Horsemad! Think dd is intending to get her money's worth from the wristband! Apparently she's met someone to walk with to the first dentistry thing she's got on Monday so that's good. D's asleep without tears tonight thankfully!

rightsofwomen · 24/09/2017 23:10

From near Cambridge..M25, M3.
We didn't get stuck on the M3 but of course all the minor roads were jammed.

I have quite flexible work hours so I'll be able to plan travel and avoid heavy traffic. Can't plan for chemical spills!

Next week will be strange but we'll soon get into the swing of things.

Horsemad · 25/09/2017 07:05

There'll be no eating vegetables by mine - never has done, so I hope he listens to his dear Mama and takes those vitamin tablets!
He did purchase eggs to make an omlette, which I'm impressed by Grin He's not known for his interest in cooking.

SoupDragon · 25/09/2017 07:10

rightsofwomen DS is at Southampton. Thankfully it seems to be under 2 hours from where we are though (M25 permitting!)

I have been very restrained and not asked DS any questions. Now he's gone I am not upset because I know where he is and i know he'll have a wonderful time (and hopefully come out with a top grade at the end having worked really really hard!!) I did have a slight "moment" last night when I wondered how much he will have changed by the time he's comes home again.

SoupDragon · 25/09/2017 07:12

Just seen the bit about the M3 onSaturday - DS was meant to move in then but stuffed up and they were fully booked. Sounds like a lucky escape!

Horsemad · 25/09/2017 07:27

Soup, my DS looked more 'grown up' when I saw him after just 2 days of being there!! I was amazed Grin

SoupDragon · 25/09/2017 07:48

But he's my baaaaaaaaby! About yay high with chubby cheeks and a small red bear in his hand :o

When he left I told him that I'd done my job and got him to this point of adulthood and impending independence pretty much unscathed and he'd better not mess it up.

midgebabe · 25/09/2017 07:50

Abondened dd on Saturday, not heard from her since, is that normal?

MorvahRising · 25/09/2017 08:15

When we left DS at Southampton on Saturday he said thank you to both of us for everything we had done which nearly set me off.

SoupDragon has he taken the small red bear? DS has taken a small animal he has had for years but it's starting off in a drawer because of the potential embarrassment factor!

midgebabe I would think that's a very good sign.

midgebabe · 25/09/2017 08:20

Thanks MorvahRising I will chant that to myself all day.

SoupDragon · 25/09/2017 09:43

No, he left the bear behind, Morvah ! Apparently he needs to stay with all the other animals or he'll get lonely.

I'm kind of glad because that bear is precious to me.

SoupDragon · 25/09/2017 09:45

Whereabouts in Southampton is your DS, Morvah? Mine is in Liberty Point.

rogueantimatter · 25/09/2017 09:50

Bagel has your DD considered Dundee. It has a reputation for excellence in biomedical sciences.

rogueantimatter · 25/09/2017 09:58

DS' poor bear was very upset at being left behind. He was a gift from some gods guys from the Canadian air force when DS was in hospital aged eleven months. Poor Sydney Bear. No, we don't know why he's called Sydney either.

stonecircle · 25/09/2017 10:07

SoupDragon - is that near the town centre? My ds is in Glen Eyre - his first choice but he announced last night it's not where he thought it was ConfusedConfused.

His room is tiny, though the capsule concept works well if you don't try and keep everything on the floor. He's taken all his cricket gear and I just know he'll leave things festering in there and make his room smell vile.

rightsofwomen · 25/09/2017 10:11

My DS is in Glen Eyre. He has a lovely room.

Had a pang of woe when I came to work (I work in an office in my garden) and his darn bike was not blocking the door (dumped when he'd come back from late shift at KFC).

I've just sent him a skype message, but he's not logged in (wonder why!!!)
