My DD's term apparently ends on 1st Dec anyway.

I feel as though an Advent Colander should be a thing, but not quite figured out what.

BackforGood · 30/09/2017 18:16

Agree Lady

My MiL posted ds an advent calendar each year he was at University. I expect the post cost more than the calendar Grin. He felt very loved though.

DD2 has left this afternoon with DH as her uni is too far to travel to and from in a day. There was no room in the car for me and to be honest I didn't fancy 10 hours sitting in the car. I went up with DD1 and once we had taken her stuff in she was keen for us to leave and DD2 will be even more keen that we drop her and go.

Her arrival is tomorrow morning so DH will feed he breakfast in the hotel, take her to the supermarket for some fresh food and then drop her off, if all is fine he will be on his way back to London by lunchtime.

Her end of term is late, 1 week before Christmas, and she is not sure if she will come home for a weekend in November or not yet. If she doesn't I will go up and see her if it fits in. DD1 was very busy in this term at the weekends although she managed to meet up with us last December for a day in a city around an hour away from her uni.

As DD1 is taking a year out I don't have an empty house so its all fine here.

bigTillyMint · 30/09/2017 19:14

HSM, I already thought about thatGrin

Apparently a senior resident shut their party down last night, but DD didnt know what time that was Grin

fairyofallthings · 30/09/2017 19:24

An advent colander is ideal as it's holey.....

DD has a formal coming up, I'm surprised as I thought they did that at halls and her hall is a self catered one. She's looking forward to it and has packed a dress for that kind of thing.

Green, that's good news about the room.
QOD enjoy the party.

Mytimenow · 30/09/2017 19:27

DS home for a brief visit, full of Freshers flu, I was expecting his washing but said too much to bring on train, so I suggested after 2 weeks of uni it's time to do some washing! Glad to hear all about his flat mates and that they all get on so well.

bigTillyMint · 30/09/2017 19:45

Fairy Grin
What is her "formal" dress like? Just wondering if DD will need to get something new if she does have a Formal

ErrolTheDragon · 30/09/2017 19:51

Boom tish, well done fairy Grin

Thank you Errol and Tilly.
DD has got a cocktail type dress. It's at the union so your DD might be going as well Tilly.
Moving over to the new thread now.

Was the asparagus strained in the advent colander?

Fairy, is your DD at the same uni as mine?

LaughingLlama · 30/09/2017 21:41

I'm glad your DD is ok Fairy.

fairyofallthings · 30/09/2017 22:21

Tilly - yes.

parques · 30/09/2017 22:21

Had a lovely few hours in Brighton today with my DS. Seems really happy and has met some nice people, so that is a relief! Far too much partying though - I'm sure the sleep deprivation and liver abuse will have an adverse effect soon and some sensible nights will be needed!

HSMMaCM · 30/09/2017 22:34

DD has been cleaning Shock

DS's loan still not come through. SFE claiming the university hasn't confirmed his enrolment. Bloody hell fire etc etc

LineysRun · 01/10/2017 09:02

Oh and that Guardian article screamed political bullshit to me. Over a grand on coffees and lingerie, yeah right. These students are obviously over funded snowflakes, far too much money thrown at them ...

HSMMaCM · 01/10/2017 09:13

Liney - he did register at the uni didn't he? Just asking, because I heard about a few DC who forgot.

OP posts:
LineysRun · 01/10/2017 09:22

Yes, he enrolled on the 19th and got his uni ID card, and he started lectures last week! And he's made himself known to student support about another matter.

But obviously there's a cock-up somewhere. He says he'll sort it out tomorrow with student support people.

I think I'm a bit worn down with it all. It wasn't like this for DD at her university - it was very plain sailing in comparison.

lostheloveofmylife · 01/10/2017 14:42

D

lostheloveofmylife · 01/10/2017 14:46

Oops. FaceTimed with dd yesterday. She is full of cold and exhausted. Too many late nights I think. She had to pay her deposit for Semester 2 halls so I was glad to see that she had put money aside for that.
It's her 18th birthday on Wednesday and I'm feeling quite sad that she won't be here.
