57 mins till we go! Yikes.

Oldie2017 · 23/09/2017 08:06

Good luck to those travelling today.

Horsemad · 23/09/2017 08:08

Oops, I have a bit of a hangover today! Blush Grin

Good Luck Morvah, hope you have a good journey Smile

ErrolTheDragon · 23/09/2017 08:10

Something weirdly fitting about a jolly end to the day in company with Greggs... and somehow reassuring in an uncertain world that their AGM should be fun not dull men in a conference room discussing the fat bottom line.

Sparklingbrook · 23/09/2017 08:10

Good luck to everyone travelling today.

Are you going home today Horse?

BehindTheBlueDoor · 23/09/2017 08:59

I'm with you on that Errol . Wonder if they had canapé sized sausage rolls and pasties available? I do hope so! Safe journey home Horsemad and safe journeys to all those off this weekend.

Ocies · 23/09/2017 09:03

For those of you going to Southampton today - the M3 is closed in both directions at Winchester following a major incident.

LoveVelo · 23/09/2017 09:11

rogueantimatter, map my run is handy for running routes, I use it when I'm away with work and want o find a route, a fair few posted around the Barbican/ City:
www.mapmyrun.com/gb/barbican-eng/
Have picked up Dutch style fixie bike for DS to get about on although his halls also offer free gym and it looks pretty good. One of the benefits for a new build I guess, which makes up for a 4 mile commute to campus.
Still a week to go for us so appreciate all the tips on the thread and all best to those setting of this weekend.

Horsemad · 23/09/2017 09:33

We are staying another night - wanted to explore this area for a while, so thought we should do it whilst bringing DS this weekend. Smile

Sparklingbrook · 23/09/2017 10:10

Any communication from DS Horse? Are you planning on seeing him before you go home?

HSMMaCM · 23/09/2017 10:23

DD's housemates are all arriving today. She's had 3 days with the place all to herself, so she'll be glad of some company I think.

Best of luck to all those moving their DC into Uni this weekend.

Horsemad · 23/09/2017 12:36

Not heard from him today Sparklingbrook but we are doing a BIG food shop at some point today.

Also going here catpawcinocatcafe.com/ Smile

Sparklingbrook · 23/09/2017 12:43

Envy That cafe looks amazing, and right up my street.

Don't forget to get him to check freezer/fridge space before the shop I think DS was a bit late to the freezer and there wasn't much room left.

Oldie2017 · 23/09/2017 12:55

I stayed one hour (clearly not a proper parent..... that was last Saturday - arrived at 11. They said you can park the car for 20 mins. and then travel a distance elsewhere. I said we'll clear it by then and they chased us after an hour - the delay was their fault by keeping the new students alone for a while to show them the room and then not suggesting the cars be parked right near the entrance to the room where there was lots of space to park... but the hour was fine and he was fine. When I started telling him about the lovely fig tree with seat around it by his front door and the history of fig growing in England I think he made it clear my time was over......

rogueantimatter · 23/09/2017 13:02

lovevelo thank you for the link. Will send it to
DS who will probably ignore it but you never know

HSMMaCM · 23/09/2017 13:44

DD's room with the view of the gents loo!

She'd have enjoyed a story about a fig tree too Grin

Aww. If it's any consolation DS looks onto the bins.

rightsofwomen · 23/09/2017 13:58

We are stuck in Southampton bound grid locked roads......

bigbluebus · 23/09/2017 14:11

My DS's room looks directly onto the building site which is going to be the new sports hall. So far they have only dug the foundations. I'm guessing he won't be tempted to try and lie in during the week with the building noise Grin

user327854831 · 23/09/2017 14:12

Horse that looks great,.

Rights I hope the traffic cleared in the end.

We went for a visit today, left v. early as the traffic is usually terrible; it took no time at all to get there. It was quite funny because many students are from overseas and so they have been talking about how long it took to get there - 14 hour flights etc etc whereas the journey mine had is an hour Grin

They have also discovered how appalling most people's geography is as the other students (the home ones, not the overseas ones) have no idea in the country where people are from and thought we were from somewhere near Scotland!

stonecircle · 23/09/2017 16:21

Did you get to Southampton ok Rightsofwomen? Took us an extra hour which wasn't bad considering how bad the traffic was. Quite a slick operation I thought, when we got there. Nice accommodation (his hall is only one year old). Though the usual capsule arrangement. Only 3 of DS's 7 flat mates had arrived - all girls (his gf won't be impressed!)

He was a bit moist eyed at one point last night, and a bit tearful when we left home this morning (clearly couldn't bring himself to say bye to the dogs 😥

2nd university delivery in 6 days so feeling shattered and a little sad at going back to an empty house.

LittleHo · 23/09/2017 16:37

I've still got three out of my four still here!

One drop off tomorrow and then another the following Sunday. ds is getting ready to celebrate (he has just gone into sixth form).

The roads sounded terrible today for Southampton Uni.

GetAHaircutCarl · 23/09/2017 17:40

Dropped DD off at her halls earlier and the other flat mates were waiting to greet her.
All seemed super friendly, offering her cups of tea etc.

DS goes next weekend and then it'll be me rattling around as DH has to go straight off to a partnership thing in the US.

QOD · 23/09/2017 17:41

Dd and her boyf came home late last night as both poorly and Dd had an upset with a friend. I’d had wine so had to wake dh up hehe
Anyway. They’re full of snot and miserable but they’re home 🏠
