DS has been on the phone a few times mainly about his computer. Which hopefully we have now found a way to sort. So despite saying I wasn't going to see him till November I'm going up on Sunday with the magic disc which will hopefully fix his problem, also his nationwide card and box arrived yesterday so I'll take that.
He sounds like he's having a good time. He's joined the gym and signed up for ju-jitsu, which made me laugh as he's the stiffest and least bendy person I know. It appears that one of the lads of his course has also signed up for that as he's done it before so they've egged each other on. DS has then talked him into climbing which DS used to do until his horrific fall just before his GCSES after which he refused to go back. So let's see how long all this sporty stuff continues once he's got his computer back.

Hope you're all ok horse and managed to get all the stuff in your hire car.
For everyone else here's to a good weekend.

Aunt P that sounds good!

DD is sending me pics of her shopping and what she is cooking Grin

Oldie2017 · 22/09/2017 20:22

Stoke Bishop area of Bristol at University of Bristol actually. I think it's 20 minutes on the bus. They had thought about taking the car they share but they were right to leave it behind. We did notice lots of local parking space without restrictions near by when I dropped one off but I think it would just get in the way. One was also going to take his bike as he cycles every day at home but didn't either - again I think they just wanted to settle in and see what other people do and what you need once you are there.

Aunt good luck with the computer. Mine would nopt buy his new lap top until 3 days before university and took it in the box unpacked as he hates setting up new things yet he could have bought it in July and spent the summer getting to know how to use it - oh well, his problem, not mine. It will be a prime theft target - new in the box. I hope he's careful.

stonecircle · 22/09/2017 20:49

I can better that Oldie! For the last few months we've had repeated conversations where I've asked ds if he was sure he wanted to take his desk top and 2 screens to uni (he won't have much room, not portable etc). We've had the conversation pretty much every day this week. He was adamant he did. At 4pm today he said, 'actually ....'. So DH whisked him off to Currys and they came back with a slim laptop which turns into a tablet. He spent an hour setting it up and now has gone off for a last night out with his gf before we leave first thing in the morning!

Hi Everyone, finally arrived at 18.20! Shock What a day. Just eating so will update soon, thanks for all the good wishes though, it's been eventful! X

RedHelenB · 22/09/2017 21:42

Glad you made it Hirsemad! Dd started with sore throat today- great timing!

Oldie2017 · 22/09/2017 21:47

At least you made it, Horse.

I don't understand the last minute stuff with one of my sons. He says it makes things more exciting as you get adrenalin. I accept I am very prompt, to an extreme ( every bill paid on day of receipt, emails answered almost right away, early for appointments) but even by normal standards I think being so last minte is not wise. What if the lap top in the box is the wrong one. Anyway I am sure he will sort it out once lectures start next week.

It is wonderful how little washing there is to do - at one point we had washing for 7 at least. I even cut back on the Sky subscription now we don't need two boxes nor sport. Whole new wonderful world (don't tell the boys... although actually I think all the children would be delighted I am happy and the holidays will be here before we know it).

BehindTheBlueDoor · 22/09/2017 22:04

What a day Horsemad! Hope you have a quiet night.
Friends in two places this weekend dropping off their twins in different parts of the country! Glad I've only got one this time and we have another week-not that anything much is getting sorted....by DS that is!

JugglingFromHereToThere · 22/09/2017 22:17

Got DD happily moved in to her Uni accomodation today in only light south Wales mist! As I set off it poured it down!
She really liked her room, which has nice views across a small wooded area, and let me stay for a cup of tea in her flat kitchen ☺
Also met a couple of her new flatmates, both seem very friendly.
Staying over for another night and then driving home after breakfast tomorrow.
We also had a nice evening last night staying nearby right on the coast, so had a lovely walk on the beach this morning.

Horsemad · 22/09/2017 22:47

I am in a gin bar! GrinGin All is well with the world! Wink

Need this after today!

BestIsWest · 22/09/2017 23:14

Horse Grin where do you get the energy? I have Wine, chocolate and liquorice but that seems poor in comparison

BestIsWest · 22/09/2017 23:17

Juggling by the sound of it your DD is close to where I live. If so, it's a great place to be.

Horsemad · 22/09/2017 23:21

My day:

Set off & car broke down 1 hr into the trip. AA sent very nice man out, he fixed problem but engine damaged & undriveable. Had to drive 18 miles for hire car - very nice AA man took me there. I had to drive hire car because DH didn't have his licence with him.
Set off again at 14 .45 but A1 was horrendous with delays, so took 3.5 hrs instead of 2.5.

DS's room is lovely. I made his bed up & almost got in the bloody thing myself, as I was exhausted!! Grin

Have eaten and had gone now and Gregg's Bakers AGM is on tonight in the hotel, so lots of fun! Grin

Horsemad · 22/09/2017 23:22

Had GIN not gone! Wink

BestIsWest · 22/09/2017 23:24

You couldn't make it up Horse.

Horsemad · 22/09/2017 23:36

It was a crazy day Best. Not one I'll forget in a hurry!

TheMightyMing · 23/09/2017 00:19

Bloody Nora Horse! Hope you are ok now? 😩 Xxx

Emptyhouseparent · 23/09/2017 06:40

Mine has a sore throat too and his flatmates and he got seperated the other night and they went home without him... not great

Emptyhouseparent · 23/09/2017 06:41

How do you edit a post to correct typos? *Separated

user327854831 · 23/09/2017 06:43

Have eaten and had gone now and Gregg's Bakers AGM is on tonight in the hotel, so lots of fun! grin

Plenty of free sausage rolls then Horse? You could have asked for some to be delivered to MNHQ.

@Emptyhorseparent that's really not good, hopefully he will make new friends.

We've been asked to go and visit ...I hope it doesn't mean terrible homesickness or anything fishy. I'm glad to have been asked though, better that than struggling alone.

MorvahRising · 23/09/2017 07:34

We're off at 11. DS is still asleep and DH is worrying about how we're going to fit everything in the car! It all feels a bit unreal.
