Could we have a handholding thread? I have two DCs going through UCSS at the moment, would love to obsess here so I can appear calm on the outside.
LNAT results go to the UNIs tomorrow I think, so offers could be rolling in soon for DD who has applied for law.

Yes very good luck for RADA that's pretty special. Surely the odds are relatively better for your DD though Carl, given that you said she was a member of baby RADA? I know nothing at all about RADA/ stats for RADA! How many auditions in all if she gets through today? Good luck anyhow, it will be an exciting day!

GetAHaircutCarl · 22/11/2016 08:56

I think the odds are even more against DD than generally ( which are already pretty awful) because she is a girl - the same number of places go to boys and girls (14 apiece) despite the fact that female applications outweigh male ones.
Then within the pool of female applicants she stands squarely within the 'over represented' category - white and posh.

Also she's young. They very rarely take school leavers.

So we're realistic to say the least Grin.

If she gets through today's round there are three more rounds. It's like the apprentice with the field getting gradually smaller and smaller!

GetAHaircutCarl · 22/11/2016 09:09

Put it this way, her application to Oxford looks a dead cert in comparison Grin.

meridithssister · 22/11/2016 09:17

Good luck with RADA, what a wonderful experience, whatever the outcome. Smile

ErrolTheDragon · 22/11/2016 09:23

Nothing ventured, nothing gained and the very least she will gain is experience. Hope it goes well!

GetAHaircutCarl · 22/11/2016 17:57

Well that's done and dusted.

Apparently the Twelth Night monologue was 'a bit dodgy' but People, Places and Things 'rocked'.

And she was redirected twice which is I'm told A Good Thing.

We wait to hear...

ErrolTheDragon · 22/11/2016 18:25

Sounds good!

CharliePurple · 23/11/2016 05:20

Fingers crossed.
We are waiting to hear from one more uni and then it's decision time

OddBoots · 23/11/2016 09:19

Good news here, ds only applied to 3 universities, his top choice would be Sheffield but if he didn't get an offer there he was hoping for offers from King's and City (both London) with King's as his firm and City as his insurance.

He has had standard offers from King's and City, we have yet to hear from Sheffield but at least we know he doesn't have to add other options to his UCAS form and he hasn't had to travel to interviews at universities he would rank lower than King's.
We know that the process at Sheffield is an informal interview at an applicant day before they make an offer, hopefully he will be invited to an applicant day soon.

ErrolTheDragon · 23/11/2016 15:16

Great! Glad his measured approach has worked out so well. It must have saved a lot of time and money!Grin hope he hears from Sheffield soon.

HamletsSister · 23/11/2016 17:25

DS has an Oxford interview for History. Very, very proud.

LittleHoHum · 23/11/2016 19:10

Third offer from University of Bath. Smile

aginghippy · 23/11/2016 19:33

My dd received an email from Sheffield inviting her to an offer holders day. In the email, they said it can take up to 10 days for the offer to appear on Track. So she is in the odd position of knowing she has an offer, but not knowing what it is.

I guess the email is sent out by the department themselves, but Track will updated by administrators elsewhere.

CharliePurple · 23/11/2016 19:34

Well done for the Bath offer :)
Ds has offers for the four courses that he hoped for an offer for and a rejection for the MSci which he expected as the only take 20 students who are predicted 3 A*
Decisions to be made now.

Waitingforsherlock · 23/11/2016 20:52

What subject was the Bath offer please HoHum ? Ds has sent UCAS form tonight but I believe it has winged it's way back to school first, so it hasn't gone anywhere yet. He has already done his A Levels and is applying for Economics at Durham, Bath, Edinburgh and St Andrews.

I now feel rather twitchy to say the least.

meridithssister · 23/11/2016 21:03

Email from Warwick today saying application is being 'considered'. Not sure if that is good or bad news! Hmm

LittleHoHum · 23/11/2016 21:21

The Bath offer is for Physics and Maths Waiting but she sent her application in a while ago.

Waitingforsherlock · 23/11/2016 23:06

Thanks LittleHoHum. It's really hard not knowing when an institution may even make an offer, let alone worrying what it might actually be.

GetAHaircutCarl · 24/11/2016 06:49

meridith those types of email are just computer generated PR.

The universities know that offers from elsewhere are coming in and want to keep their institution in applicants' minds whilst they undertake their admissions process Smile.

ErrolTheDragon · 24/11/2016 07:20

Yes, DD had one on four successive mornings from one of her choices, each at a slightly later time, which perturbed her until we'd discussed how such a computer glitch might occur.

Pipkinhartley · 24/11/2016 08:04

Hello to at those who mentioned physics at Manchester, son went to interview and can confirm as previously mentioned - if you get an interview, you will get an offer. Requirements are a a a, apparently the purpose of interview is so they may be able to still consider applicants who don't achieve that. (a* a a)
Looks great for those looking to do physics and astrophysics/ astronomy

GetAHaircutCarl · 24/11/2016 08:05

DD has just text to say she's been invited for an audition/workshop at Exeter.

So she is just waiting to hear from Oxford now.

DS is still waiting to hear from Exeter.

meridithssister · 24/11/2016 09:19

Thanks haircut that's useful. We are just waiting for York now.

CQ · 24/11/2016 10:23

DS had an interview and visit at Imperial College yesterday. He really liked it and the icing on the cake is that they will consider deferred entry, which is unusual for an Engineering course. So he is now planning his 'Slack year'. We'll see what Bank of Mum & Dad have to say about that Hmm

Needmoresleep · 24/11/2016 10:24

Carl, how did the RADA audition go? I have an image of a room full of posh white girls waiting for their turn and giving each other "the evils".
